I still don't see a fix in the list of issues fixed that corrects the survival of a window's size setting after a quit and re-launch.

i.e., if one sets the window's size to be larger that the document (which I prefer for working with docs) upon relaunch and re-open the window boundaries revert to a default, which is the document's boundaries. This is still working in 4.1.2 and NOT after that.

Let me know if this has been fixed. Otherwise I'm not even going to bother testing this one...

First of all: all of these people seeing nothing happening for a while when launching the update: Be patient - it will install, it needs to unpack the installation bits which take some time. Just hold on and do not cancel the process. I worked for me...

I have a Mac Pro Quad Core 2.7 Ghz Mac. I had Windows XP (SP2) running with the original Bootcamp 2.0 drivers that came with the Mac on the install disks just fine. I installed Bootcamp 2.1 from a stand-alone download under XP (SP2). When I restarted I was greeted by a horrible 640x480 4-bit color screen telling me my drivers are out of date and were made for a previous version of Windows (?!?!) (the default VGA driver was loaded) I am unable to get my display set up properly all settings are greyed out. I have a dual monitor setup with an ATI x1900 PCIe card and a ATI Radeon HD 2600 PCIe card. Neither of them work now. I had to restore my system via System Restore to a state 2 weeks earlier to get my Windows XP back.

Seems pretty stable with all applications so far. They even fixed a sound notification issue with Entourage.

1st off: why isn't this update in the automatic update built into Office 2008? I just checked for updates this morning.

2nd. There is an annoying thing (amongst many) in Word and Excel: Application Preferences are not available unless I have a document open? - ridiculous.

I would like an option to NOT have a blank document open every time I start up Word or Excel. Why isn't this in the preferences? Very annoying.

Another annoying thing, connected to the comment above about a blank document opening when I start up Excel: if I switch to another app while I wait for the looooong startup of Excel it will pop the window of it's blank document in front of whatever I'm using (another application) - two VERY annoying things. Computers and software were supposed to do what I ask them to do not have a mind of their own and force the user to accept whatever it is programmed to do.

Because Adobe is in bed with storage device makers ! They make applications now close to 1GB big, I mean that's insane! Just so you eat up hard drive space and soon you will run out of space and go out and buy a bigger hard drive to store useless application data such as 12 other language packs that come with the app that you will NEVER use.

I've been using this great little app for a number of years now and find it indispensable for cataloging my backup disks. Used to be CDs and now DVDs. Also catalog my off-line hard drives with it that I use for backup such as Firewire drives. Very stable program as well. Highly recommended.

-- Note to PHALARON (another reviewer below) It takes a only few second to launch this app to scan disks. You let me know if you come across a computer that I don't have to start up to do my computing please.

What does it take?... This latest beta version still doesn't remember window position on re-opening documents. Try it: open doc, resize window to a larger window than doc boundaries, save, quit. Open again, the doc window will default back to just the doc boundaries. Bummer! Version 4.1.2 does. Come on you dev guys why is this so hard to fix?!

Numbers don't appear on the tape as I type and perform calculations. Seems to work in Tiger (10.4.11) but NOT on Leopard (10.5.1). I'm running a Mac Pro Quad Core 3 Ghz with 7 GB of RAM and Leopard (10.5.1)

Also, the developer support form on the website doesn't work when submitting a support email with Firefox (so what do we expect from this developer then as far as a software?...):

The Protection Setup doesn't work for me on Leopard 10.5.1 -- Nothing happens when I try to copy the directory from one hard drive to another for "Protection" -- I'm amazed at a small utility DVD taking up 1.9 GB of a DVD. What for? What on earth is on this disc? I'm sick and tired of all these developers robbing me of storage space. Why does a simple application take up 100-200 MB of space? That's ridiculous! On a side-note: Why can't a simple thing be done in this day and age where if I'm on an English-USA Mac, the application installed on this Mac should only contain "English.lproj" files within the package of the application and not 12 other foreign language versions which bloat it up to 200 MB? I think it's application developers laziness and we who already shell out money for the software pay additionally for it in eaten up drive space, bc we have to get bigger and bigger drives to hold their bloated applications!

This is truly a great app for a lot of things. But the new version (4.2) doesn't remember window positions for me as the regular 4.1.2 version does. Open document, set window position, save, close document, quit app. Upon reopen the doc window is slimmed down to the document boundaries, i.e. this new version does NOT remember teh window pos. Anybody else encounter this issue? Version 4.1.2 correctly remembers the window position set upon re-open.

Running smooth and fast with heavy pages that struggle on other browsers, and no crashes - BUT only once I removed Speed Download and some other "menu manager" from the Input Managers folders (under ~Library/ and ~User/Library/.) Do a search on Input Managers and remove any suspect stuff and restart - then try Safari again.

Great product, but the Beta doesn't remember window positions for me as the regular 4.1.2 version does. I talked to the support guys about this but I guess they haven't fixed it in this release. Also when I opened some files it gave me a bunch of "font errors" - but, I'm using FontAgent Pro and autoactivation - this, again works well in the regular 4.1.2 (non-beta) version of OmniGraffle Pro.

Copying any text in WORD locks up computer for several seconds, the larger the text volume the longer the wait. Computer locks up with fans starting up loud to cool processor (G5 - MAC OSX 10.4.8) WHY? Incredibly annoying when trying to work on several pieces of text.

There is still no option to NOT EJECT disk after erasing a re-writable disc. It has to be ejected after every erase and then put back in if you want to write to it. Idiotic.

There is no way to "open" a disc image with a simple standard "open" command from the menu either in "Data" mode or "Copy" mode. Only in "Copy" mode can one select a disc image from the "select" button. Idiotic.

Roxio people, invest some time in usability studies.

Same troubel here with "Running with Scissors" I think the studios have wised up to this and introduced a deliberate bug to prevent people from ripping their DVDs.

All these years Intuit has neglected the Mac market in a gigantic way and yet they expect us to shell out bucks for this miserable program. Minor, "window dressing" updates don't do anything. Even if it was given away as "shareware" I doubt anybody would use it...

There are too numerous major annoyances that go on with this program to list here. Calculations are wrong, the impossibility of certain financial operations, the fact that you can't change the font face or size in registers, or general appearance of windows, columns, etc. Overall a big zero to Intuit for delivering a miserable app to us Mac users.

I totally hate Stuffit Expander not remembering window positions. It insist on expanding stuff smack in the center of my monitor - meaning the progress window. I move it, but it comes back to my main display into the center. If I'm downloading something in the background and working on something / reading a webpage... it will pop-up right in the center of my screen annoying the hell out of me. Come on!!! In previous versions it remembered the window position. Allume is LAME!

No idea what you're talking about... I have not experienced these problems. As far as file typing issues in the Findar you can always fix any issues with the "Get Info" command and assign any app to your liking to open a particular file with a certain extension ALWAYS with that app.

So far no glitches, all's smooth. See no diff in Dashboard. Some apps will need to be updated that mess with the OS appearance such as TransparentDock
