BLOCKSOFT Great little utility. I discovered it whilst waiting for Dockstar (free equivalent) to support 10.5. It has worked flawlessly for four months since I installed, and whilst I have no interest in the screensaver option, I can see it would be of use to some users. (Version 2.1)

BLOCKSOFT Thanks for the feedback. I haven't yet found a suitable way to alter the 2D background, but I'll look at adding some less obtrusive separators shortly. (Version 1.4.3)

BLOCKSOFT Download it and try it out. Docker is a very different tool from Tinkertool. The latter gives control over aspects of various system areas, whilst Docker concentrates on the Dock, and gives far more options and customisation. A comparison between the two isn't really fair. BLOCKSOFT The reason you can reset some settings when cancelling the password entry is because some settings do not require admin permissions to be reset. The interface is a matter of personal taste I suppose but please feel free to backup why you dislike it so much so I can consider this. The password handling dialog is to minimize the number of times the password is required. There is nothing sinister - your password is not stored anywhere on your hard drive. Thanks for your feedback. Graeme, Blocksoft (Version 1.4.1)

iConiCal | Dec 5 2007 |
BLOCKSOFT When used correctly iConiCal is no problem at all. It requires to be run daily to keep the icon up to date. If this its one at startup or at a certain time each morning it is a very unobtrusive application. Similarly restoring the default is as simple as pressing one button in the Settings window. Any problem please email me directly. (Version 1.6)

BLOCKSOFT I have looked into this issue and decided to stick with the .dmg file. Some people have had disk images generally on late versions of 10.4. There is a discussion here which suggests that it was the result of installing an OS X update using Software Update rather than the Combo installer: There is another here which claims to have isolated the problem - that it was due to a leftover from an old version of Virtual PC which is incompatible with Intel Macs: If you are still struggling, a .zip file is hidden on my server at http://www.blocksoft.net/docker/Docker.zip (Version 1.1)

BLOCKSOFT That's true Neil - iConiCal is primarily aimed at users prior to 10.45 and 10.5 users can still use it to change the color of the iCal icon. (Version 1.6)

BLOCKSOFT Rick, to bring up the settings, press and hold the Apple key just after launching iConiCal. You need to get in pretty quickly so you are holding the Apple just as the application starts bouncing in the dock. I admit it is a little fiddly, but this avoids the problems which would be cause if you were holding the Apple key whilst opening iConiCal. If you are still struggling, deleting the iConiCal Preferences file will force the settings to show the next time you launch iConiCal. None of this is an issue in 10.5. As OSX 10.5 now updates the icon regardless, I have modified iConiCal accordingly, as you no longer need to run it daily. As such, the settings window always appears in 10.5 (Version 1.5)

BLOCKSOFT It sounds like iConiCal isn't loading as your system doesn't know where it is. Have you moved iConiCal since the initial setup? Having moved it, uncheck and recheck the 'Open at Login' and 'Launch at Midnight' options to reset these to iConiCal's current location. To uninstall iConiCal, you simply need to drag it to the trash. To change iCal's icon to the default, you first need to open the iConiCal settings, accessible by pressing the Apple key as iConiCal loads, and press the reset button contained therein. BLOCKSOFT Great little app. Does just what it should with the minimum of fuss - ideal for leaving in the dock and dragging HTML files onto when you have finished editing. It would be great if XML and CSS files could be checked through the same application too. (Version 0.3)

BLOCKSOFT Johnny, check your settings (hold down the Alt key while iConiCal launches to bring up the settings) and check that the 'Leave iCal open checkbox is not checked'. Also, you say that you have had this problem for a few days - let me know if it still exists in v1.1 Finally, if iCal was open before you opened iConiCal, then it will not automatically be closed for obvious reasons. If you are still having problems, please let me know by email. (Version 1.1)

BLOCKSOFT LOOPNINE, thanks for your comments. Unfortunately, the way iCal saves its icons, it is necessary to open iCal to change the dock icon. I am however looking into ways of making this more reliable and less obtrusive for future versions. Regarding your second point on iCal staying open - what should happen is that iCal opens, and if you have not checked that box, it will quit. If this is not happening 100% of the time, I'll tweak the code a little to fix that. Thanks for the feedback. (Version 1.0)

JOHNNY ROCKET I can't find any email info for you so had to reply this way. The checkbox to leave iCal open in not checked and I upgraded to v1.1 when it came out hoping that it would fix the problem. I trashed the preference file and reopened iconical, set preferences, closed it and iCal, reopened iconical and it still leaves iCal open. (Version 1.1)

MemoBlock | Jun 6 2007 |
BLOCKSOFT Thanks for your feedback. I had not noticed this issue as the majority of diacritic characters are saved correctly by MemoBlock. Have you found any other problematic characters?
| [ Reply ] | |

MemoBlock | Jun 6 2007 |
BLOCKSOFT In response to the comment below regarding diacritic characters, MemoBlock does handle the majority of diacritic characters correctly, and most users will have no problems using umlauts, circumflexes, accents and so on. There does appear to be a problem with some characters, including the caron (?), which I shall look into. For languages which do not use that particular diacritic however, there is no problem, and 99% of users can use MemoBlock without issue. (Version 4.8)

BLOCKSOFT I needed a basic text editor for editing my website files etc. I can work offline, or combine it with Cyberduck to modify files directly from the website. The main feature for me was 'tabbed' files within one window - I much prefer working this way, as it keeps my desktop for less cluttered and lets me work on multiple files simultaneously. Great work, keep it up! (Version 3.1)

BLOCKSOFT Thanks for your comments. It is my intention to make the cards at least twice the size, and better quality in v2.0 of the application, which will be released in a few months.
