Thanks for the lecture. Unless you are a developer or friend, perhaps you will show a little compassion when you know all the facts.
On 9/21/06 I purchased VueScan for use on a Canon 8400 scanner. I did check and VueScan supported the 8400.
On 10/1/06 I purchased a Canon 8600 scanner as a replacement for the 8400. The 8600 was relatively new on the market—and it was not unusual for a developer to need some time to catch up. I waited and the developer released many update—none of which supported the 8600.
It is now 12/6/06 and another VueScan release with no support for the 8600.
On 11/26, I emailed the developer and—now read carefully Shawblower— he said he needed a document from Canon and when, IF EVER, he gets it, VueScan will support the Canon 8600. So, it's very possible that I will be out $49.95 FOREVER! Hence, my posting which you responded to.
