BASTI79  Thanks for the response! Feel free to contact me via email to "software@sparrer-online.de", if you have more details, such as when exactly this happens.

I am still on RealBasic 5.5.5 ... the more people donate, the faster an Intel-Version will be available. ;-)

BASTI79  Shortly before version 1.2 will be released, I'd like to get this cleared: In fact, what you have seen were'nt MAC- addresses but IPv6. Mac OS X uses IPv6 if you are connecting to your server using the "Network" folder of the Finder. If you use "Connect to server" (command + k) Mac OS X uses IPv4 and AFPStatus will display the correct IP address and (if resolvable) the DNS name.

BASTI79  Thanks for your suggestion! It made it into version 1.1.2: The name of the connecting computer will be shown inside the GROWL notification, but only if it can be resolved via DNS. Since DNS Names of connecting users via the internet can be quite long, I would not want to show those long names in the menu ... but I will think about a solution.

BASTI79  Version 1.1 has an error where stopping File Sharing through AFPStatus might log the current user out. I am currently investigating this problem, but I strongly recommend to use 1.1.1 in the meantime which prevents the log out. Thanks!

BASTI79  I have to admit that both applications do have things in common. However, as the name says - AFPStatus focuses more on File Sharing. AFPStatus was developped because of a personal need - I was looking for a tool that actively notifies me upon incomming connections through File Sharing - and not just by changing a color of a menu item. I just thought that some others might like it as well.

If you are fine with Sharing Menu, that's absolutely fine with me (I know the developper), but isn't it sometimes nice to have a choice?

BASTI79  I really hope that the 1.1 update to my AFPStatus will make it into your menu bar. It adds exactly what you asked for - turning File Sharing on and off, and accessing the "Sharing" preferences and additionally GROWL support for system wide notifications. But please feel free to drop me a note about what "various sharing modes" you exactly mean ... Thank you.
