BAMBU  Now it just needs a bullet-time spinning Tardis in-between each segment of the wormhole. (( smile ))

Beautiful work.

BAMBU  To quit a currently running Caffeine, command-click on the menu-item and you get a menu with quit as the last option.

That should help you with just unzipping and replacing 1.03 over the 1.02.

Best wishes

BAMBU  Is there a general discount somewhere or was that something you had from something else?

BAMBU  You don't know me. Please don't make assumptions about other people's lifestyles. It's rude.

CandyBar

BAMBU  Sadly, yes. CandyBar 3 will not accept a CandyBar 2 serial number.

A CandyBar 2 serial number gets you five dollars off the retail price and a Pixadex serial number gets you five dollars off the retail price. If you have both, it stacks and you get ten dollars off the retail price. This isn't mentioned anywhere but on the purchase page.

Which would bring it to a more reasonable nineteen dollars.

"If you bought CandyBar 2 or Pixadex 2 on or after October 1st, 2007, you qualify for a free upgrade to CandyBar 3." Information is on the purchase page.

CandyBar

BAMBU  I just got off the phone with someone at Panic. I let them know the issues I have with the current version. The man I talked with thanked me for not sending an angry email or being angry on the phone and I would urge anyone who is having these same issues with CandyBar 3 pricing to do the same. Email founders@panic.com or phone the company and *nicely* let them know that this was a mistake and they have made many of their customers unhappy. I suggested what MREL CEE suggested about a "lite version" that just offers CandyBar 2 features in Leopard which I would be happy to pay an upgrade fee for, but not at the price that I originally paid for CandyBar 2. I *want* to give Panic my money because they make great software (and I'd love to buy Coda, but that's *way* out of my price range) and they are truly nice and understanding folks.

I believe that with enough kind feedback on what we really want out of this kind of application they will do the right thing and offer an alternative that will be beneficial to everyone while still selling the "heavy" version that seems to be popular to at least one person who has commented here and I don't doubt will be popular with others.

User interface modification tools really shouldn't cost this much, no matter how many features they throw in. No matter how you feel about CandyBar 3, the pricing should concern everyone, because this inflation of non-productivity tool prices is going to be detrimental to all of us.

BAMBU  Twenty-four dollars to upgrade from CandyBar 2?Are you kidding me? A five dollar discount? And people wonder why it's so hard to sell shareware. This is extremely upsetting and disappointing.

Yes, new features, blah blah blah, but I bought CandyBar for the one reason and not the others and I don't have a choice now. My initial investment is now worthless and the new features aren't compelling, especially since many of them are available as freeware alternatives (such as dock modification).

Thanks for nothing, Panic.

Pangea Arcade
Oct 21 2007

BAMBU  This is definitely a great idea, packaging three classic arcade games in one. Unfortunately, these three games don't appeal to me. I'd love to see Pangea work their magic on a trio of mini-sim arcades, such as Sims Pool, Video Golf and Pole Position. Or re-imagined (this would draw me in bigtime) Mappy, Zuma, and Lunar Lander.

BAMBU  Does this have enUS support? Or just enGB and deDE support?

Greatly appreciate your work. Fun to fiddle with but getting realm looping and all the log messages (ships and zeppelin movements, no errors, though) are in German, which is probably the cause of the realm looping. Oh, and if you're looking for PPC support, you might look into Mangos 4 Mac forum, working on Ascent.

Maybe I just need a different set of dbcs. Or an English Silver DB. Or something. Fun project to play with.

Definitely not a threat to They Who Must Not Be Named.
