AROONA SOFTWARE  As VideoDrive 1.11 for Snow Leopard is a beta version, some issues can arise. This is a result of the major overhaul of the QuickTime framework in Snow Leopard.

The specific issue you have can be easily fixed by disabling the option "Add chaptering" on the main window.

AROONA SOFTWARE  The current version of VideoDrive (version 1.6.3.03) is fully compatible with the newly released versions of iTunes 8 and QuickTime 7.5.5. Tiger users are advised to install VideoDrive 1.6.2 available at www.aroona.net.

AROONA SOFTWARE  As stated on the MacUpdate page and our own website, the new version of VideoDrive does indeed requires a new key, which will be provided for free to existing customers. This uncomfortable upgrade path has been taken with good reason. The decision was not taken light-hearted and causes a lot of overhead on our part. Still, we are committed to provide all existing customers with a new key as soon as possible. We advice to apply for the new key before installing the new version. As written before, if we do receive complaints about our upgrade system, we will definitely consider revising our upgrade policy if possible, and try to enhance it to make our customers happy.

Kind regards,

Aroona Software

AROONA SOFTWARE  Actually, VideoDrive does not require to be located in the Applications folder. The behaviour you describe is a bug. We are working to address it in a next release. Please email more details (aroonasoftware@gmail.com)

There are no plans to release a multilingual version in the immediate version as we want to add more features first.

AROONA SOFTWARE  VideoDrive indeed analyzes file names and folder names to determine if a video is a TV Show.

Solution 1:

The file name needs to contain S01E03, 01x03 or 01-03 to identify the video as episode 3 or season 1 of a TV Show.

Solution 2:

Put all files in a sub folder "season 1". then they are all identified as episodes of season 1 of a TV show.

Solution 3:

if you do not want to start renaming your files, consider manual meta-tagging (see VideoDrive Preferences). It also supports automatic season and episode numbering!

A more in depth discussion is provided in our FAQ Question 3: http://www.aroona.net/VideoDrive/MetaData_Questions.html

good luck!

AROONA SOFTWARE  Lemming is correct: all videos can be imported in iTunes without reconversion. However, as iPod, iPhone and AppleTV only support MOV and M4V formats, reconversion will be required in iTunes or in VideoDrive to put these videos on those devices.

This means if you want to watch a non-compatible video on your AppleTV you will need reconversion as this is a result of the limitation of the AppleTV. You can however stream non-compatible videos over the network to shared front row libraries.

Another solution is to put unofficial codecs on AppleTV, but this is not officially supported.

We are clear and upfront about this matter and do not have any intention in misleading our customers. If you have any further questions, you can contact us by email: AroonaSoftware@gmail.com

AROONA SOFTWARE  This is most likely a problem with your configuration. Do you have growl installed, or recently removed from your system?
