APPSCOUT [Why does a screensaver need an installer script anyway??! I know where to put screensavers.] Indeed. We all do. This seems unnecessary, today. When that happened to me, after the initial puzzlement, I just renamed the folder 'Desktop' Developer. When, if ever, do you expect to make this 10.6 compatible? (Version 2.2.1)

APPSCOUT Thanks for the update. PNGs work fine. a] Can we have the output on a white background instead of black. As mentioned, a printout of black will use a LOT of ink? ;-) b] Can we get the option to choose which house system we'd prefer? Specifically Equal and Whole house. c] Can we get a text readout of the major aspects and planets in houses? (Version 1.1)

ANONYMOUS There isn't a way to uncheck them as of yet. It'll get thrown into the next update. The other apps are Apples iSync and iStat Menus. iStat Menus is an awesome little system monitoring app that can be found here. http://www.islayer.com/apps/istatmenus/ (Version 1.0)

APPSCOUT I actually like this app. A lot. I'm sorry that my last entry — a trifling bit of absurdity — upset so many. Wow! You really, really hated my script! LOL FWIW, I was mocking myself — for having invested so much money on FD. An app BTW, that started life as a Mac app, and has now fully become a ported Windows app — for the Mac. This is not like so many crappily ported Windows apps. You likely know which ones I mean. It is truly a cross-platform app. Designed cross-platform. Which is okay, because it works well. And it looks good. I was mistaken to think that my original intent would be obvious. My bad. (Version 2.0.1)

APPSCOUT Loads of features, and pleasant to look at. But, decidedly un-Mac-like. Would this be able to be 'native' to the Mac? Without the palaver of X-11? or MacPort? A NeoOffice to OOo, if you will. Could Celtx be a model? Using HTML, XML, RDF and TXT? It's time or money, right? But, any time that I contributed, would be time well wasted. FWIW, is this a Linux app, the same way IE is a Win app? They just happen to run on the Mac? Poorly. (Version 0.46.3)

APPSCOUT INT - DAY - COMPUTER DESK AppScout sits before his glossy screened iMac, which sits before a window — in his cramped bedroom office. His wife enters the room. And he points to the iMac screen. I know Final Draft 4 cost me $399. And each update since cost $79. But, what do you think? (Version 2.0)

At the moment that I DLed it, there was no mention of X11 posted. I looked. As I did in April. It's not like this hasn't happened before at MU. Posts that point out mistakes, vanish with the corrections — all the time. And FWIW, I'm not the only person that had this running without X11. Read ALL of the comments. And, do try to be less rude. APPSCOUT Still opens X11. 10.5.5 - 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - 3GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Had GIMP (Wilbur) 2.4.5 aswell. Deleted from drive. 2.6.3 would still open with X11. {Replaced 2.4.5. with 2.4.7]

HOFMAN What made you think this one does not launch X11? The abstract clearly mentions that Apple's X11 is required, and there's no mention that it runs without it. There is only one version of Gimp for MacOSX I know of that does not require X11, and that's not this one. (Version 2.6.3)

PETER DA SILVA So what's the version that doesn't require X11? (Version 2.6.3)

Gimp | Dec 11 2008 |
HOFMAN The question is not "which version", but rather "which app". There are AFAIK 4 different mac apps for Gimp with varying characteristics in integration in the Mac OS. The one at http://gimp-app.sourceforge.net has an experimental version that is the only native version I know of. But I have never tested it. (Version 2.6.3)

APPSCOUT This seems to run without X11. Menus are 'Mac' menus, not Linux ones. Tho', if I start X11 before or after I start 2.4.5r2, my iMac locks up. Hard restart is required. I installed this version of X11... http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/xquartz But Gimp.app 2.2.11 and GIMPshop 2.2.11 do NOT start up. Have noticed that 'Hiding' Gimp is not possible, unless a document is also open in Gimp. Even a blank one. Is this a 'NeoGIMP'? (Version 2.4.5r2)

APPSCOUT Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I'll never understand Apple's choice to waste screen real estate with this bit of useless eye candy. It serves no practical use in spatial relations. Atleast Dock magnification is useful — to some. And the Genie effect could be useful, sort of. The Dock 'shelf' is useful, because? Anyway, now to find our white Menubar! (Version 1.0)
