ANTHONY SIGALAS Great new application that brings you all your social sites updates into a simple and very mac-like interface. It's still in beta, but it's very stable and has never crashed. I wish future updates will bring FriendFeed support, but the app is still young and its future is bright. I love it. (Version 1.0r546)

Plex | Jun 23 2008 |
ANTHONY SIGALAS This is the Media Center software to use on Mac OSX. While it might seem daunting at first to set up, it's actually easy to use and offers a great deal of customizations. You can download skins to change the way it looks (I'm very fond of xTV, a Front Row clone). OSXBMC plays most of the known media file format with better results than VLC. High Definition MKVs look great and software upconversion do wonders on SD content. The developers are friendly and open to suggestions and this thing is free - what more could you wish? My favorite feature of the newest betas is smart folders support! Too cool! (Version 0.5b9)

ANTHONY SIGALAS An indispensable utility for any serious Mac user. It has almost replaced my favorite launcher utility (Launchbar). Fast, efficient, problem-free and very easy to setup and free! Highly Recommended. Please support the developer by donating. (Version 3.0b5)

Urly | Sep 25 2007 |
ANTHONY SIGALAS Absolutely brilliant! Nice and simple, although the developer stopped the development a great addition would be to just drag the new urls to the Urly dock icon and forego the need for drawers. (Version 0.9.1)

Chroma Player | Sep 2 2007 |
ANTHONY SIGALAS After years of using VLC as my video player of choice I came upon Chroma Player. This is how a video player for the mac platform should look and act like. Used it for the full 15-day trial period and never had a crash. Much more stable than VLC but the best part is how it renders subtitles using the native resolution of the monitor instead of that of the video file (like VLC). The result is crisp text that doesn't strain yor eyes. Also try using the transparent background subtitle style (the animation of the text box is wonderful). I love Chroma and use it a lot so I wrote a Sofa Control script for that (it's in the new version of Sofa Control). I only hope the next versions will add playlist support. If you like me are anal about type (and if you're using a mac you should be) and view a lot of movies with subtitles then Chroma is the player for you. (Version 2007.2)

NetNewsWire | Jun 5 2007 |
ANTHONY SIGALAS Although I was a heavy user of Newsfire and later Vienna, NetNewsWire 3.0 made me switch in a heartbeat, as soon as I downloaded the first beta. The reasons are many: The new UI came leaps and bound in aesthetics, compared to the clunky view of NNW 2.x - full screen mode -combined view - OS integration - snappy Spotlight search - vertical tabs with nice previews & the fact that I have it installed on my 5 macs with a single licence. NetNewsWire 3.0 has everything a modern and advanced RSS reader have and more. It has even become my browser of choice! (Version 3.0)

MacBornes | Jun 4 2007 |
ANTHONY SIGALAS Very addictive card game and now that 2-player works via Bonjour, MacBornes rocks. You can even create your own set of cards or themes (I did) for a more personal touch. I'd like to see more card games like this on the Mac platform. Kudos to the developers for making this a freeware! (Version 1.0b12)

Septavo Tangram | Jun 4 2007 |
ANTHONY SIGALAS This is a great puzzle game from the developer of Solavant. The game interface is very elegant and simple (avoiding flashy and cartoony set pieces and backgrounds), making Tangrams solving on your mac as fun as it can be. The mechanics of the game are nicely done with a snap-to-grid function that allows for easy placement of the pieces. There is no timer, you play as many puzzles as you like at the time (amongst the impressive number of 1000 puzzles!) making it a great game to kill your time between tasks or when you need to take a small break from work. When you're stuck on a puzzle there is a progressive hint system that makes your life a bit easier but ruins your stats! ;-) Finally each puzzle is numbered, so you can mark your favorites and share with friends. TV Forecast | Mar 4 2007 |
ANTHONY SIGALAS Excellent widget with great usability for us TV-Shows junkies. One stop at my Dashboard and I can see what to expect to see tonight. Kudos to the developer for a great and beautiful widget. I used to use thefutoncritic.com for tv listings but now TV Forecast it is. Easier and quicker [F12]. Perharps a next version will allow for resizing. (Version 1.0)

SofaControl | Jan 8 2007 |
ANTHONY SIGALAS Sofa Control 2.0b offers unique new features over the previous version like Virtual Mouse, newly designed global menus, double pressing that offers new functionaity and a new more user friendly script maker to create your unique scripts. The ability to browse through files and open them on your disk drives gives sofa a clear edge over the rest of the Apple remote apps. Furthermore the developer is friendly, open to suggestions (he has incorporated everything I asked for) and quick to reply and solve any problems. This beta also has a new script called Sofa Safari that enables you to browse with one apple remote click through sites that are reporting MWSF 2007 live keynote from Steve Jobs. So instant live coverage of 2007 keynote from your Sofa :) (Version 2.0b1)

Vienna | Dec 24 2006 |
ANTHONY SIGALAS I was a hardcore NewsFire user, but due to the developer's arrogance I was forced to seek another RSS reader. I had my eyes fixed on Vienna for a long time, but the newest version introduced Unified layout which is absolutely brilliant. This feature, together with the ability to change styles (CSS templates really) made me a Vienna believer. A big thanks to the devs for bringing to maturity a great open source RSS reader! Cereal | Jun 24 2006 |
ANTHONY SIGALAS A nice lightweight RSS reader. Not many bells & whistles, but that's a good thing. Some nice things missing are a "Refresh All Feeds", more keyboard shortcuts, an option to import OPML and so on. (Version 0.3)

Accordion | Jun 2 2006 |
ANTHONY SIGALAS Another excellent plugin for Rapidweaver from YourHead. Accordion is a very useful plugin and I use it in many of my webpages. However it is still in late beta mode (current version 1.0b5), so approach with caution. I have bought all the plugins from YourHead and this one is certainly one of the best. It makes for a less cluttered page, using a vertical tab technique via lightweight Javascript. You have to see it, to appreciate how cool it is. (Version 1.0b5)

Forty-Two DVD-VX Plus | Apr 16 2006 |
ANTHONY SIGALAS This version resolves an issue causing output height to be squished when encoding from some DVD's. That held me off from buying Forty-Two DVD-VX Plus. Now that this problem is fixed I bought this app in an instant. It has some nice features but an overly simplistic interface doesn't give you a lot of choices. Either way, it works better than the freeware Handbrake for me and I recommend it to anyone having problems with Handbrake. A nice addition would be the ability to encode on the newer H.264. Solavant | Jan 22 2006 |
ANTHONY SIGALAS At long last! An elegant mac solitaire collection game! I downloaded the demo and I was hooked. This is what card games should look on a mac. I have a fixation for card games, but so far with the exception of the freeware FreeCell, all the others was just plain ugly! With Solavant you get 137 solitaire games - no way you could get bored. What's more one of the features of this game is that it is hard - no hints or workarounds of any kind. You vs. the cards. As I said before the graphics are excellent and I encourage any fan of card games to download the demo and give it a try. The demo gives you 100 deals - more than enough to test drive it. I bought it after 16 deals! If I had to give a negative, that would be the absence of a pause button, especially handy when at work, but a workaround is to quit and save the game. (Version 1.0.1)

ANTHONY SIGALAS Very Nice Try! Thank You! We here in Greece have to pay an extra 150 Euros in Apple's Greece Reseller, in order to have the "benefit" to have Greek in our Mac system! I suppose the developer must be one of those angry customers like me. I mean, it's not that Apple products are particularly cheap in Europe anyway, to have to pay even more, is simply not acceptable!
