ANCIENTYGER  It's pretty fast, at least on smaller images. I wish this were an Image Unit for Core Image aware applications, with advanced controls. This would, then, be amazing.

ANCIENTYGER  Really, nice applilcation. Looking forward to 1.0 release, should be a very powerful app. As it matures i hope other apps(specifically, Cocoa apps) will look to it as an alternative to Pshop or Gimp. Gimp.app is nice, but this is all cocoa and makes use of Core Image. This is more than an aggregate of image units but a real image editing app. In many ways, more powerful than Seashore is currently, but Seashore can access .xcf files... which Gimp.app can make of .psd files. Working in 128 bit.. in Chocofloop... is nice though! Looking forward to a Beta version.. .heh.. when the final version is out.. i think we'll all be used to using it already!

ANCIENTYGER  Okay.... Omniweb, Safari, Shiira, Sunrise... who could ask for anything more.... really, other browsers aren't up to these.... even camino, mozilla, firefox... this is just browse, author go! great! this, i think, is the fastest. even faster than Shiira. sometimes i click and the site is loaded. wow. and that's with no cache follks.... not always that fast but, ,usually, which is impressive. the way the sites scale... that's great! i'm very impressed. As far as very helpful normal browsing.. the KHTML browsers are best... Sunrise, Shiira and Omniweb are sweeeet. Safari gets better with extra add ons... this is a good addition to the OSX browser bunch. yeah... i want this one on my dock too!! why not? it's my mac! i want great browsing... stable browsing (uh oh OW.. stability has to get better..) and powerful browsing! yes! this.. is a powerful browser... needs services though like Omniweb, and Camino!

CARCOA  Carbon/Cocoa is fully integrated in Mac OS X. As the end user you will not see any difference between Carbon/Cocoa.

From Apple's Carbon developer page:

"Carbon is a set of APIs for developing full-featured, high-performance, and reliable applications for Mac OS X. Carbon enables C and C++ developers to take advantage of Mac OS X-specific features, including an advanced user interface toolkit, an efficient event-handling mechanism, the Quartz 2D graphics library, and multiprocessing support. In addition, other industry-standard C and C++ APIs are easily available to Carbon developers, providing access to such services as the OpenGL drawing system, the Mach microkernel, and BSD operating-system services. And you can use virtually any Macintosh development environment that supports PowerPC to build Carbon applications."

JAY  try entourage on an MS exchange system. It's the worst piece of software I've ever seen.

it's slow, doesn't syncronize properly and can't even resolve exchange server hostnames.

it's full of LDAP problems and errors.

The GAL is a seperate directory service.

Whoever wrote this program should be kept away from a computer.

A real piece of junk!

Ain't worth a penny. MS couldn't pay me to use it!

Buyer Beware

My 6 year old wrote a better e-mail client.

ANCIENTYGER  Got out LOL i hear you, but ducking the bill isn't always the coolest review! LOL that's your personal thing. You do raise a valid point, however, yeah i saw this coming too.... When i saw the promise of the app itself. Freeware is great! i love it.. but, when a price point is added.. and it doesn't exceed $50 .... i think it's a fair deal. ;-) I want some of these apps to continue.. and not get end of lifed... like Watson. wow, what a great peice of software that was only getting better. Now, it's going Java, and multiplatform. Does this mean no more sending movies schedules to iCal, address to Addressbook? What about the recipies? that could have been being sent to all the cocoa recipie apps(glad i can still do that via services) Would have been nice to send football or baseball events to iCal!

My point is, if we ante up... they can stay around a little longer.... There are a lot of Classic mac apps that are.. well, not being updated.. and boy, would they have been nice on X.. better if they were Cocoa :-P or widgets in tiger!!! k, peace love and hairgrease. Good point about keeping your eyes open and not griping!

ANCIENTYGER  Firefox is grand. IE had troubles long ago.... Finally, a browser touting SOME of the features Omniweb has had and Safari is going to gain in successive releases. Points over OW? It's "cross platform" & the charge is stated "by donation". (OW allows you to use it without paying, but states it's charge, so actually, you may pay more for Firefox if you'd like..) I do appreciate some of the the other features of OW more (especially, that it's cocoa), but i'm glad Firefox is on my dock. Now i can make sites for the world.. and test them in a browser others have! Finally, the mac has a browser rich experience....the top browsers are all browser featured or available on to our community! Firefox, Safari, Camino, Omniweb, Konqueror(heh, unless you haven't been keeping up), Opera.... lets stop fighting with each other... get some Apple juice... and celebrate... then... get back to supporting or community.. and ALL who support it! Bravo Phoenix.. oops... my you've grown...."Firefox". Kudos.

Bible Reader Free
Jun 26 2004
***½.

ANCIENTYGER  I am pleased to see this type of software being developed. Searching the Scriptures has been a part of my maclife for some time now, and simply easy and beautifu on OSX. I've had BRS since X.0, have been looking at Accordance, iBible, and my Personal favorite... MacSword. Bible Reader looks like it will take it's place among these. I'd like to see a fuller toolset. When Accordance has been around for years (thanks for updating for X), BRS (no longer in development?) pioneered Bible Reading on OS X, the Palm Reader elegantly presents the scripture for reading, iBible like, the others (except BRS) providing Bookmarks in its features list and the Cocoa built, MacSword, makes Bible Reading powerful (Built upon the Sword Project: An attempt at a Klingon Version shows it's power! Chinese, French, Swahilli, RED LETTER FEATURE!!!etc.) and simple. I love accessing the software via services from other apps(great when discussing scriptures via Instant Messaging or Chatrooms)... What i'm waiting for.. is one of these to present a Guttenberg style Bible.. or not only pics, decorative text items... but, encyclopedias.. with dictionary like illustrations of antiquited ideas and objects. (i.e. Solomon's earthquake resistant, building methods.. 3 layers of stone.. one of timber.., or ancient images etc.) i encourage the developer to keep up the great work! Maybe you all should "talk amongst yourselves...." see what you can do.

ANCIENTYGER  I thought Mac people "weren't" interested in such destructive behavior. I thought we were encouraging a "safer" more "secure" environment not trying to promote the willful destablization of the network of tool that we've come to enjoy. I figured what we've all learned is that it doesn't take much coaxing to make humans ignore apples, oranges, pears or even life if they think they can obtain the dreams of avarice. Can we learn nothing from Eden? Please, don't leave this tree in the center of our Garden.... at this point, we don't even need a serpent to do the coaxing....

CYBERHIPPY  You guys are all nutz!

Mac users cannot be contained or described all at the same time, some like destructive behaviour - others dont. Taking a small minded view like that IS however a complete waste of time and space on this forum. Software like MacKrack - comes along now and then, so there is NO POINT in blaming the publishers or the writers or anyone else for that matter.

If somebody uses a tool for right or wrong, it is only they (the user) who can dictate which category they fall into.

For instance, some may say that a knife is a murder weapon and is bad - whereas I use a knife every day to cut my toast.

Dont blame the brush, blame the artist!

Anyway, now I think about it the world is FULL of hackers / crackers and I for one would like access to their methods without having to practice on other peoples computers first. Think about it....

ANCIENTYGER  Omniweb is great. Been using it since 10.0. I hate that in these days of mass layoffs people deny smaller companies the opportunity to make a little for their efforts. the way OW runs, you really don't have to pay for it. They constantly keep the app in demo mode. So, people who can't afford or don't want to pay for the software should stop complaining now. If you don't, you simply show your ignorance or your inert postition on the well being of others. Support, the good guys. Make your critiques, make your suggestions, give praise, but don't argue about paying, when you don't have to. Omniweb is fast becoming the best browser. Features. Stability. Speed. Cocoa.(well, in my opinion, cocoa is the top of the list.) I'd like to be able to see a .css icon on css files i generate in OW. Thank you very much guys. Wait wait!!
