I updated to the latest version (060707), but when I did a check for update in that updated app version, it said:

"Application release 20060627 is up to date."

and in the About menu, it says:

"RELEASE 2006 06 27"

Shouldn't it say 2006 07 07? Is it updated or is it not?

Absolutely Great!! It works flawlessly.

But I have one question:

I was previously using Euro Assistant Pro X 2.6.8 (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/7265), but Euro Assistant and the Currency Converter showed different results for the same currencies. I did some research and gathered that it must be due to the fact that I've had Euro Assistant set to query the European Central Bank, whereas when I changed to Bank of Canada, both programs gave the exact same results.

So I'm wondering, is it possible for you to make a preference option, to chooce which bank to query? I'd prefer to keep using European Central Bank instead of Bank of Canada...

Here are the addresses for the 3 major banks:

European Central Bank: http://www.ecb.int/stats/exchange/eurofxref/html/index.en.html

Bank of Canada: http://www.bankofcanada.ca/fmd/exchange.html

International Monetary Fund: http://www.imf.org/external/np/fin/rates/rms_rep.cfm

SUPER AWESOME! Thanks!

One wish though: --> The widget makes a folder for each transfer in the drop boxes when sending file over Bonjour. And those folders are named by sender's name and date. That's cool, but if I don't want that, and instead wants the files all thrown in to the same directory, without dated folders, I'd wish you couldmake that as an -option- instead. :)

Keep it up! This is a killer widget. Looks nice also!

Great update! Only one thing:

When I'm closing an unsaved document, without wanting to save, I get the following doaligue message:

"KABOOM. Could not delete backup file "/private/vat/tmp/folders.501/TemporaryItems/PixenAutosave.pxi".

I had this problem in the previous (beta) version as well. I've tried to delete the preference file and I've also repaired permissions on my harddrive. Any ideas for a solution?

I love Pixen. ;)

I LOVE this game. I wish there were some really serious tournaments going on, online, in this game.

There is a bit more to it than just having good reflexes. You have to plan ahead and make sure to win as much terrain as possible.

So people, start playing it online and have some games with me!

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but it doesn't work for me.

My system is: Powermac G5 dual 2.5 Ghz, 1.5 GB RAM, OSX Tiger 10.4.6.

Entered the exact username and password, but nothing shows up in the menu list.

Don't use any firewall either...

Does Recipe Box support international measurements?

If not, I suggest adding the feature of being able to edit custom measurement abbreviations and manually convert from english to your own nation's measurements. Maybe it could tap into the OSX's built-in measurements converter in Calculator.app, or the Dashboard widget, Converter.wdgt?

If there were only Apple, we'd never have these beatiful machines to look at. And you wouldn't have anything to compare it with.

Ok. Time for a review.

I've had this mouse for a couple of months now. Before I start complaining, I must still say that the actual mouse is a real eye-opener, in terms of unsurpassed sensitivity and great design (save for the fact that the side buttons are too small and quirky). Too bad, though, this great sensitivity isn't adjustable in a comprehensible way. (At least not for me.)

Right now, I'm very frustrated about my Razer, and I really don't know where to start, but I have a lot of beefs with this mouse...

Seeing that virtually nothing is being improved, on the Mac driver, I just can't help feeling deeply disappointed. Now, there _are_ updates now and then, for this driver, but obviously they aren't improving or adding anything vital to the lack of features.

First. In my opinion, there is _NO_ logic whatsoever behind the design of this driver. It appears that the Mac implementation of the driver was rushed in a desperate last minute squeeze-in. For starters, the driver does _NOT_ override the Mac OS' in-built mouse accelleration scheme. This leaves you wondering, which control is actually in charge of this mouse?!

Secondly. If you set the driver's accelleration setting at 0 (zero), the pixel accuracy feels all ok when moving the mouse slowly. But (!) if you twitch the accelleration slider up one fraction of a pixel, the accelleration goes nuts. Logically, since there are 171 'steps' on the movable slider (I've counted them), moving it up from 0 % accelleration to the next smallest 'step', should mean that you'll raise it to 0.6 % accelleration. Which, honestly, shouldn't introduce any noticeable accelleration at all. But indeed it does... Don't ask me why, but the accelleration is raised by more than twice of what it was at 0 % accelleration. What gives? And while this is supposed to be a 'precision mouse', why not let users enter exact numeral values, with decimals in the 'advanced' settings tab? I know you can edit the com.razer.PRO.plist file, but that seems like a long way round.

Third issue. And this is a terribly awkward thing. The button settings... I'm sorry to sound so complaining, but they are the worst imaginable settings ever. And the sad part is, USB Overdrive 10.4.5 does _not_ recognize this mouse on my system. I've tried uninstalling the Razer drivers and see if I can get USB Overdrive take over, but it just won't detect the device. An example of the nuttyness with Razer driver's button settings is, the right mouse button. Apparently, there had to be something wrong by calling the right mouse button for just that, 'right mouse' (or mouse 2). Instead, it's called 'Menu'... Menu?? A right mouse button is a right mouse button, not a menu button. Well, that may be too harsh to say it's a critical issue, but it exemplifies the whole oddness about this driver. And when, or if, will they implement per application settings for these buttons? Had it not been for the fact that USB Overdrive doesn't support this mouse as of today, I wouldn't complain about the button settings feature. But it has taken too long time for me to still regard this as a serious mouse for the Mac. Only thing that still keeps me using it, is for its sensitivity in games. With all the great looks and slim, ergonomic design, the Razer Pro 1.6 mouse could have been so much more...

This is it. This is really IT!!!

Nothing else that I've tried compares. There have been web based "solutions", and PHP based "solutions", etcetera. All of which I've never been able to sucessfully set up a simple iCal calendar sharing route between my computer and my wife's.

Now it's possible. This developer is a saint. Thanks and thanks again. I will donate to this program without hesitation.

I only have one request. That is, to make it so that the application icon, which looks great and all that, but in my humble opinion, I don't want to have my dock nor the application switcher filled up with 'passive' programs that I rarely go in and work with, since they just 'sits' there, if you know what I mean.

So, an option of hiding the icon in Dock and the Application Switcher is all that I can think of, being left for my desire. Otherwise, I'm totally happy now that I can finally sync up my calendars with those of the computer right next to me.

Thanks! This is brilliant.

One great addition that you might want to consider:

- Add Spotlight Comments to be able to be added in the listings

Will this program be the first to enable that feature?

I will wait to review this app (at which point I will probably give it 5 stars), until the following little kink is fixed.

At least for me (I'm using OSX 10.4.5 on a Powermac G5 dual 2.5 Ghz, 1.5 GB RAM), it always crashes when I'm trying to drag a couple of picture files into its window. And the same happens when I'm going through the Add File>Open dialog (albeit not seemingly exactly as often as it does when I drag and drop files.

On a further evaluation, it doesn't seem to crash anytime, when I'm dragging actual pdf files, only when dealing with image/picture files, such as .jpg, .png, etc.

It's a great app for sure! (And yet, it works flawlessly when consolidating .pdf files.) But I'd be very happy if this crash bug when adding pictures could be addressed. :)

Thanks.

I bought a Razer Pro mouse today and one thing that I noticed right right off the bat, is the RADICAL sensitivity range. Wow that!

But the thing that really brings my excitment down - the things that people have already pointed out below - is that this driver is almost useless for Mac peoples.

In this state, it feels rather pointless to rate this driver, as I definitely believe (or actually, rather EXPECT) the Razer company will fix it.

My question is: Does USB Overdrive fully (or at least partially) support this device? If not, will it? What's your best guesses?

This is partly a comment or thought about Michael Pipolo's question.

If you're not using the newest (Tiger) system, you might be interested the following. If you are using Tiger, though, the application I'm mentioning below might be able to work for you anyway.

There once were one, sole application that could manage to actually wake up a computer from DEEP sleep, i.e. not normal sleep, but the sleep it has when the computer is 'shut off' completely.

I have never since, seen any other app that can handle this arcane wake up, and I honestly don't have a clue how the developer of that app did it. Sadly, he stopped developing the app and it is probably belonging to the past (Panther and older OSX). Its name is iBeeZz (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/10589).

Too nightmarish and creepy for my liking. I get the feeling also, that this game tries to impose a lot of christian beliefs in its audience, which definitely rings a warning alarm, at least for me.

I have but some minor request left, that would lead to even greater perfection:

1.) I would be so happy if you could include the ability to set the alarm termination interval to infinite. I know it might appear as if that would defeat the whole purpose of having an alarm, but for us hard core morning slackers, it often takes more than half an hour to wake us up :) An infinite alarm would, eventually, help people to get their bones out of the damn bed.

2.) In the alarm section, where you can select an iTunes playlist and a specific track, I think it would be great if you were able to choose whether you want the playlist to optionally start at the selected track (if you choose one) and then continue with the next track in that same playlist, as opposed to only repeating one track only this playlist. Of course, I can select a playlist without selecting any particular track, and then it plays all the tracks in that playlist one after the other. I might be wrong, but I haven't found a way to start a playlist with a particular track, without having that one track repeated, skipping to the next one once the track is finished.

3.) This is really no biggie. The localization didn't seem to kick in properly for the YearYear-MonthMonth-DayDay format, as in my country (among others).

I hope you take this as constructive response, as I really love what you're doing. This app is exactly what I've been looking for, and it's the best one of its kind, especially in its current price range ;) Right on target.

The following is not intended to be interpreted any direct criticism to the developers of PHP iCalendar, but rather, it's my personal story and general reflections after a series of failed attempts using it.

PHP iCalendar is probably fabulous, but oh so complex to set up. I would consider myself being fairly computer literate, but I was surprised to see that this was apparently way beyond me.

I tried and then I tried again to get this workig, but eventually I decided to give it all up.

Now, I'm definitely not disappointed in the developers who made this great PHP-based calendar sharing system. Not at all. I gather it's terrific, if only you're smart enough to make it work for you.

But.

I CURSE Apple for not allowing their customers to share their calendars for free (sharing, as in publishing<->subscribing, i.e. synchronizing), and how they are greedy enough to charge them for a wicked amount of hard earned cash in order to do it... It's insane. Especially when there are lots of other free alternatives to .Mac, many of which you'll get more storage space than in a .Mac account (correct me if I'm wrong), for example gmail.

After having struggled with PHP iCalendar, without eventually being able to enjoy its potential, I'm now left with a very bitter feeling.

This is humiliating... All I wanted was to share my calendar (in an automatic fashion) with the computer next to mine... And I think that it goes without saying, that I certainly do *not* want to pay for something that should be an integral part of Apple's iCal application.

Finally, I'm sorry for being a sour kraut, but I couldn't help expressing my frustration about this.

As a hint (and a request) to the developers of PHP iCalendar, may I suggest that you consider making an accompanying GUI for us who are not too familiar with editing scripts, setting file permissions, PHP, etc.?

Thanks for the word. Take care.

One of the most groundbreaking shareware app that I've even bought.

I've used iCalViewer for one and a half years now and it still is one of the greatest little pearls of all applications.

Buy it. You won't regret it, ever.

Some may say, they would get stressed seeing their todo timeline on the desktop every day. But on the contrary, I would say, isn't it more stressing looking in your calendar, only to find out that you have missed an appointment by 3 days? iCalViewer lets you plan ahead.

Not only do I like how you can have it on your desktop, underneath all your icons, but also I worship the feature that makes it run as a scree saver, and that, along with other screen savers too!

Awesome.

One word: ASTONISHING!

This pearl is indispensable. Finally, I repeat, finally someone makes a file transfer application for computer-to-computer (LAN) transfers that actually works. I can't believe why Apple didn't streamline such a trivial task to be as simple as it is with Schick...

Again, I'm so glad that you made this, Wurst-Wasser!! It may sound like I'm over-exaggerating here, but now I now I'm saved from tearing any more hair from my already half-balded head.

There is but one (very minor) thing that I'm wondering about. Is it possible to set it up so that I don't have to have the application up and running on both computers in order to send files? I guess this isn't doable unless there is a daemon for it, which might be too cumbersome to create.

What I'd like to propose is, that you might consider adding the option not to show (hide) the Dock icon (I'm not a big fan of having lots of things in the Dock jumping around ;), and additionally make the Bezel have an 'Ok' button on it and have it show up forever, until acknowledged by clicking ok button (like for instance the Bezel for incoming calls in Skype, etc.). Maybe Growl support would be something to look into.

Just some suggestions...

But all in all. This is a very neat little app that really WORKS. It's a permanent keeper for sure.

I tried DropCopy for the same tasks, but it often didn't work and it forced me to compress some files as .zip's before sending. Now, Schick takes the lead in the Mac LAN-file transfering competition. Nothing compares to this.

I would disagree to the sceptic comment down below. For irrational and absent-minded, non-snobbish commoners like me, this program really seals the deal! I couldn't live without it, since it sorts all your ideas and stuff nice and easy in one convenient and streamlined facility for production planning. And the collaborative part of it is awesome.

Go go go, Celtx!

PS. Georgesimian, what specifically are you missing? Why not share your knowledge and state the items that you think are missing out? Clearly, this is a very generous application, especially while being free. And it certainly deserves some push of knowledge from people in the know. To a certain degree, I believe this app is an effort, very much derived from lots of user feedback.

Awesome idea!! Very nice game concept.

There are only two things that I would like to suggest. First, the things that you can pick up, such as extra lives and the yellow thingies are a little too hard to grab. It seems that you must fly exactly right towards them, with your nose pointing at them, in order to get them. I think it would be nice if that was a little easier.

Secondly, it's hard to know where you're supposed to exit the level. I might have missed some information, since I didn't read the description of the game, but anyway.

Despite that, this is a really awesome game that you've created! Great job!

Sorry for asking this question here (it's about Synergy2), but can I move the cursor over to another workstation - on which someone is currently operating - and have TWO mouse cursors doing thing on that persons screen?

Also see Sound Miner (www.soundminer.com). Although it is much more expensive, it might suit some users needs better than this program. Then again, maybe not. It's just a tip if you want to look in to alternatives.

I wish this app had a separate column where you can edit(view your own file comments. That is one of the most important features missing, which makes it perhaps better for sound designers to use Sound Miner, which gives the users a terrific oversight of their comments/descriptions.

@ RONALDJOHN

While App Zapper is nice also (and have a nice icon and a very cool sound effect!), I don't think that it beats the potential of Yank. Since Yank observes the very installation process of applications, it registers which files have been installed and where. While App Zapper seems to just pick files that it can relate to the application in question, I'm doubting that it had the same precision.

Although, it still remains for some expert reviewer to make a comparison of Yank in relation to the others.

I'm planning to buy Yank, can any pioneers please tell us their impression of it?

This application is top notch. And the price is fabulous.

As a suggestion to those who bought this, I really recommend using it in conjunction with another fabulous schedule/todo application; iCalViewer.

That way, I can easily see and edit the todo's that I have in HighPriority (which is in the menubar) and then let them be displayed (on the desktop) by iCalViewer.

Thanks to the developer of High Priority for the low price tag. I'm definitely giving it 5 stars in all respects!

@ SCHMELDING

The word "Lingon" is swedish and it translates into "lingonberry", "red whortleberry" or "cowberry" in english. :)

Same goes with the word "Smultron" (as in the name of another application from this developer), which translates into "wild wood strawberry" (or something like that) in english.

I tried this nice little game and it's a keeper! I like the feeling of it. Now I'm excited to play the network feature of it!

Very nice widget!

A suggestion:

- Make it so that you can re-edit the values (for instance if you want to change the seconds) after you have typed them in. As it is now, you are just pressing 1, then 12, then 15, if you want it to be 1hr 12min 15 sec. My suggestion would be that you should be able to click in the hours, minutes, seconds (and so on) fields and correct any mistake. If I'm not mistaken, there is no way you can correct typing errors. I might be mistaken, but anyway, I think this would be more convenient.

Maybe also (excuse me for being picky), make it a little bit tinier, slimmer. But that's just a cosmetic request.

Thanks for a great widget! I'm sure that many audio and video creators, like myself, will find this a very nifty tool.

Screen Calipers is good looking and ran flawlessly when I tried it. A really stable, good looking and nice app. But it costs. Not that it costs very much, but I thought I'd mention a tip about a similar, free application also.

It's called PixelStick, http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/17836

I made a pixel test using these two apps and I got different results. According to my test, using these two programs simultaneously, they give different measurements, and there was no way I could have been mistaken, since one app gave me an even pixel value and the other one gave me an odd pixel value, so if I had somehow misinterpreted their graphical gui's, the results should have differed with 2 pixels (depending on where you presume that the ends of their 'rulers' are). But, again, I got an even/uneven mismatch in the pixel values.

When I brought a screenshot picture of these two apps into Apple's Preview application, and cropped the image after the two application's ruler start and end points, it turned out that the measure given by PixelStick was the same as the new cropped image's size.

Note that I'm not a rocket scientist, so my test might be totally faulty. Maybe they are both right (I read something on PixelStick's website about the fact that there is a difference between pixels and points, and that OSX uses mostly a points measurement system.)

(Sorry if my english fails me and if I'm not making any sense in that observation report. I tried my best.)

Anyway, I thought I'd mention this other app also, for you to decide whichever you prefer. PixelStick also has a very neat ability to show the center point betwee two points. In general, PixelStick looks more geometrically appealing and concise, while Screen Calipers looks more "gear'ish".

Change the name to something else than 'Amnesty', or at least so that it doesn't begin with 'Amnesty'.

First thing I thought when I saw the name was that it had something to do with Amnesty, which it apparently doesn't, so it's a bit misleading.

Only one request; scroll-wheel support.

Otherwise, this is my favorite one!

For some reason, I can't open any wav or aiff file... I want to convert them to mp3, but the files are dimmed out when I select Open. Also there is no drag-and-drop function to move sounds from the desktop to the encoder window. I'd like to request that.

Otherwise, it sure looks promising. But I'd appreciate if someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong :)

Shouldn't it rather be $19.5 or something like that? It must be a typo.

I agree that this is THE best single mono/stereo track editor and mastering solution among every currently available Mac dittos. I purchased it one and a half year ago, and I still think it's totally awesome; rock solid stable, powerful and fast (wicked fast!).

BUT (!)

There are two (2 little details that I'd like to humbly express my discontent in). Remember, these are my ONLY objections, all other audio programs (I have tested them all) in this genre has tons of things I could complain about, so. Anyway, here are my concerns:

1.) Every time that I want to create a new document, say if I want to save some part of the current file into a new sketch document, I have to first SAVE THE NEW DOCUMENT, before being able to use it... That is honestly quite irritating, since I'm always ending up with LOTS of documents, many of which I never really wanted to save. This is what I can't seem to understand why DSP-Quattro does it. Where DSP-Quattro beats the competition by miles, here's where it really looses ground. All other applications let you create a new document, do whatever you want to do in it, and finally DECIDE, whether you want to save it or not. :(

2.) I think that the copy/paste functions are quite fuzzy. It isn't like, normally, when you just select a part of the sound that you want to copy, then press Command-C for copy and Command-P for paste. Instead you have to use another combination. Maybe it's just me who have a concern about this, but I think that the copy/paste routine has to conform to more standardized and common operation.

But all-in-all, if you are to buy a great, classy sound editor and want the real stuff, buy this one. It won't let you down and in comparison to the others, this application still stands its ground as being number one.

I have some questions to either the developer or any users who might now:

- Does this program support world's most logic date format, YYYY-MM-DD ?

- When using TimeNext in Networking mode, do I have to -manually- mount a network disc each time I want to sync my employee's TimeNet data with mine, or is there some way I can set up a permanent network route (á la 'one-click-sync')?

- Does it have, or will it support in the futire, iCal interoperability? The benefits of being able to use it with iCal are enormeous.

The functions of TimeNet seems very concise and hands-on, so I'm curious to know about these things before I decide which of the available billing apps I should buy.
