ALEXF Had my hopes up...but still will randomly stop playing MP4 video files :( AVI remains fine, though I still get random 'network error' messages that don't seem to affect playback at all.

ALEXF Used to be perfect but whether it's newer versions of MediaLink, or updated PS3 firmware it's now a hit or miss proposition. I'd guess that 4/5ths of the time the PS3 does not find the media server and restarting either system does not help.

ALEXF The Safari plugin shoots the CPU up to 100% and never lets go of it until you restart Safari. Whatever it's doing it's not using that 100% to play videos -- they stutter along like a slideshow. This is on a clean install of Leopard.

CRAIGSEE The 100% CPU issue seems specific to QT 7.4.x and Safari. It doesn't happen with QT 7.3.x or with FireFox. They've figured out what the issue is though and the fix should be out very soon.

MACUPDATE ADMIN I view the Flip4Mac WMV download page every day, sometimes several times a day, it's my job. I have thousands of softwares and their version numbers commited to memory. Today, May 19, 2008, the Flip4Mac WMV download page changed. Yesterday it listed version 2.2.0.49 available for download. Today it lists 2.2.0.49R available for download. This means to me that it is a different file, and thus it was posted today here at MacUpdate.

ALEXF It doesn't start at login anymore, no matter how many times I click that option :( Otherwise a great program...using a Mac without it feels unnatural. This was one of the first shareware programs I ever bought.

ALEXF Neat little program that is a great value. This version finally fixed the problem of music tracks not showing up on the PS3, so I bought it immediately. Everything works flawlessly now :) The ability to navigate your Mac's filesystem is a bonus!

ALEXF If it's your own video you probably don't need MTR, as it is probably not copy-protected. You can just use Apple's Disk Utility to make an image of your DVD and then burn that image to a blank DVD using Disk Utility (free) or Toast.

MDIDDY Maybe because it is quality software? Synergy is one of those must-have apps for me. I've used it and enjoyed it since v1. It makes so much sense and works so well I'm very surprised Apple hasn't incorporated this in iTunes already. Maybe version 8.

GUILLAUMEK I agree. Synergy is fine as it is. It never crashed on me in over 3 years. And i believe there is no need for new features. The app does its job. Apple should contract Wincent to pack Synergy into iTunes. Then again, i wouldn't recommend buying the app. There are free alternatives that work great.

FLYING ACE The 5 minute demo only affects flying with the joystick, you can fly for as long as you want using the autopilot. And the 5 minute demo is a lot more than MSFS gives you.

SWORDFISH Did any of you realize that you can restart X-Plane for another 5 min of fun? Do that a few times and you can get a feeling of the sim. Don't expect to master X-Plane in 15 minutes. It's a large app and will take some time to know its inns and outs. Now think you are the dev. Do you think if you give a 1 hour demo period people will buy your software? The dev is mostly coding X-Plane *alone* except for some help in the scenery code department. He codes for 3 platforms simultaneously. He has to compete with the whole Microsoft team to keep X-Plane as a viable alternative to MSFS. He has no time to loose at coding complicated anti-piracy schemes, and no money to waste buying an anti-piracy engine license.

ALEXF It's certainly a fun game. Easy to understand, but challenging enough to keep your interest. The graphics are well-done and stylish. A few bits of constructive criticism: - add more variety to the types of buildings/tank colours - perhaps have the player try to shoot at a slow moving target? - maybe have more of a progression to the levels I realize all this might detract from what is meant to be a simple game, but it'd help convince me to pay $14!

CF7 I just had the idea that you could make a screen saver out of the computer Vs. computer option in the game. Although, when I set up the game with CPU Vs. CPU, I found it quiet distracting when I started to try & do some work in front of it.

ALEXF Very lean and easy to use. It's mostly bug-free but sometimes torrents reach 100% and don't stop. It just keeps downloading and changing from (for ex.) from 99.5-100%. And sometimes the torrents just stop, but that may be the tracker. I hope the little bugs get fixed soon; this is a great torrent client

ALEXF Terrific program. I only keep iChat around for AV; MSN is off my drive completely. There's one little bug that I hope gets fixed soon though: contacts' MSN icons don't get fetched automatically. You must start a conversation with them before it shows up in the contact list. I remember in a previous version (perhaps the one that first gave us user icons), all this would happen automatically.

ALEXF They're different programs. Handbrake is for turning a DVD into a smaller AVI or MP4 file. MTR is meant to extract the native DVD video (.VOB) so you can either watch the DVD without the disc, or back it up to a blank DVD-R.
