ADVENIO SUPPORT Hi LARRYMCJ , I'm really not sure what you mean when you say "now the imports hardly ever work. People complain about this in their forum all the time and all they say is "it's the site's fault...we'll fix it in the next update..." but the next update seems to never come, or is so far away that it does no good." These recipe web sites change constantly, and MacGourmet is always updated as soon as it can be to keep up with the changes (for instance, the version you comment on includes fixes for two recent site changes). There is always some amount of lag, just because I can't really do a release immediately when something is fixed, but in general, things are found and fixed pretty quickly. I'm also not sure what you mean about next updates never coming, etc. because I don't typically make comments about future updates. I try and fix web site imports as soon as someone reports them not working (for instance, one site just broke today). I'm really not sure why you claim that you're "tired of their web recipe imports not working as advertised." When something breaks, the first thing you need to do is make sure that your version is up to date. The next thing to do is to send a quick email with a link so that if I don't know about the site change, I can file a bug and get it fixed. Once I have the information, I can fix the problem. ADVENIO SUPPORT Exactly. A partnership like the one with Mariner allows an indie developer (like me) access to markets and distribution that just isn't possible otherwise. The Deluxe version is retail boxed and carried in the Apple Store, on Amazon.com, etc., something that I don't have the time or connections to do on my own. (Version 2.4.2)

ADVENIO SUPPORT @XENOPHILE: Honestly, I don't understand your beef. You do realize that MacGourmet is still available as it always has been, that you don't have to purchase Deluxe, or any of the "bloat" as you call it, right? Mariner didn't acquire the product. It's just a cheaper retail bundle. It's a distribution deal, I still own it and develop it. Period. If you have a problem with it, just ignore Deluxe and stick with the standard version of MacGourmet. As to what might happen at the end of the distribution deal, it's not a short term deal, and in the event of termination, there would be some kind of path back to the regular Advenio product. ADVENIO SUPPORT While I sometimes don't get to reply immediately, and I'll admit, sometimes things do fall between the cracks because of email volume, spam filters, etc, I replied to your email as soon as I received it. I'm not sure why you never received my reply. You also never asked about "Cooking Light" which has actually bee "obsoleted" because that site is now rolled into MyRecipes.com. You are able to download an optional importer for that site on the web importers page: http://macgourmet.com/website_import.html. These sites change constantly, so while there might be lag time between updates, you also need to stay current with MacGourmet versions when things are fixed. If you had received my reply, I guess we might not be having this exchange, but I do my best to supply immediate support, especially for registration issues, etc. (Version 2.4)

ADVENIO SUPPORT @xenophile: This is a only distribution deal. The product continues to be developed exactly as it was before, and ownership has not changed in any way. Mariner sells a bundle of everything, into markets I can't access on my own. The standard basic version still exists and will continue to exist, and the price hasn't changed on that since 2004. ADVENIO SUPPORT Mariner Software is redistributing MacGourmet and its optional plug-ins, Mealplan, Nutrition and Cookbook, as a discounted retail bundle, all in one convenient package, at one price, called MacGourmet Deluxe. The update to Deluxe is always just a tad behind the release of the standard version, just because of the change of hands. You'll find that Deluxe 1.1 (which includes Macgourmet 2.4) was released a day after MacGourmet 2.4 was. (Version 2.4)
