I don't have a previous version installed, yet the installer, after identifying my boot volume as installable, says "there's nothing to install." Very strange.

Nice utility. But for those of you who (like me) object to Internet-based activation...be aware that this application indeed uses it. I find it objectionable that the developer does not even let us know on his web page.

This has caused me to not register the license I purchased. I plan to replace my computer in a couple of months, and nothing on the web site tells how to transfer a license to a new machine.

This is a useful app. I have Acrobat Pro, which provides finer grain security control. But for quick-and-dirty, PDFPro is great. Also, the password entered through PDFPro will not work in Acrobat Pro. You need to be careful with this: If you lock a document using PDFLab Pro, you must also unlock it with PDFLab Pro before working with it in Acrobat Pro. I actually think this is a desirable feature, but some may not.

While the functionality is good (it's nice to have a visual warning when your PowerBook power supply is disconnected), this app is definitely NOT the one to use.

Problem: the application prevents the PowerBook from sleeping (Mac OS X 10.4.6 at least). I did extensive troubleshooting and finally attributed the problem to this app.

Second problem: ChargerChecker prevents the disk drive from spinning down. In addition to draining the battery more quickly (my life dropped 15-20 minutes when running this app), it made estimates of battery life unreliable.

Third problem: actually an issue rather than functional problem. This application phones home (Little Snitch revealed this).

PowerMate has worked perfectly fine for me, including OS 10.4.5. However, a while back I needed to delete my user prefs file to make it work properly. This is a known problem (Griffin told me about it). Hopefully v1.6.4 will solve it.

Excellent piece of software. My earlier comment was wrong. Turns out that the problem I had was trying to upgrade from too old of a CD. For the 2.6 upgrade to work, you need v2.5.

2.6 is colorful and enjoyable to use. The only change I'd make is in allowing different settings for the screensaver and standalone app. Specifically, I wish I could set the clock to show only in the screensaver. Maybe in a future version.

Would be nice if it worked in registration mode...but it doesn't. Tried it on a dual G5, OS 10.4.5, and it doesn't recognize my original CD for registration. I also noticed that the posted version is 2.6.0rc1 (ie, beta), so maybe they'll fix this by the time it goes final.

Very nice functionality, but it's got some serious problems:

1. After you've viewed a file with MilkyWay, you can't delete it unless you either use a SUDO deletion process, use TrashIt, logout or restart. Apparently MilkyWay doesn't properly release a file after displaying it.

2. There's no way to control the file types MilkyWay displays; it seems to show anything that QuickTime is capable of. I definitely don't want to view PDFs with MilkyWay, for example, but there's no way to stop it.

Also, it would be very handy to have an option to not display a file when you click on it. For example: Command-Click to view, or Command-click to just touch the file without viewing it.

Good start to a nice thought, though!

This looks like LAST January's update, not THIS January's. All the documentation, file dates and so on indicate January 7 2005. I'm sticking with what I have until this gets sorted out.
