AT  Hope that the developer could develop a secured erase data utility for the iPhone and iPod touch. It's a much needed utility.

DOUGOFTHEABACI  If I'm not mistaken the iPod Touch can be made to show up as an external volume, correct? That would mean it definitely shows up in Disk Utility. Even if it can't be used in such a manner it still might.

Disk Utility has some heavy security features, including the ability to completely wipe a volume and "zero-out" everything a dozen or so times which would make any data unrecoverable.

MACMELO  My recommendation is (ironically) to keep using Renamer4Mac 2.8.

Works great on Tiger and Leopard and the improvements listed for version 3.0 are really only very minor ones...

AT  Thanks De-Mu, Name Mangler is great! It's from the same vendor of Butler. It's free and I don't mind sending the developer some donation again. I have dumped Renamer4Mac v2.8 or v3.0 for good.

Why can't there be an electronic download upgrade purchase?

AT  I bought TTP during the MUPromo bundle. That was version 4.5.2 and I have updated it to 4.5.3

Caught a quick glimpse of the site and my web browser crashed. My question is whether this is a paid or free upgrade?

CHRISCHRAM  It is indeed a paid update. $25.00 plus a shipping charge of $5.00 and up and up and up. Last time I paid for a TTP update was a year-and-a-half ago, so I guess it's not too bad, but I really hate it when they gouge you for shipping. Any of us could mail a DVD for less than a buck.

THEC13  I can understanding paying for a 5.0 update, but just an incremental update is not going to happen. I'll spend the money on DiskWarrior.

SCOTT_R  Just bought TTP 4.5.3 four months ago, and they want me to pony up for another update. $30 including shipping? Geez,.

LEOOFBORG  Actually, I've been to Alsoft's website and the Leopard upgrade to DiskWarrior 4 will be free.

I thought the eDisk that TTP makes might be a good idea, but in all truth I only used it 2-3 times.

I'll probably wait for the DW upgrade and for the author of Applejack to update his script... personally I'm a bit ambivalent about $30 for an incremental upgrade in light of what Micromat's competition is doing.

AT  Don't buy this. Bought this during the promo. Two weeks later, the developer updated it to version 2.0 and rendered my purchase useless. Asked what's going on and the developer said he made a mistake in pricing and begged me to buy for this upgrade.

I luv to help and support developing software. But his reply is simply inexcusable and ridiculous, and his method is despicable.

Drive-in
Jul 31 2007

AT  I thought this app was dead already. I actually like this app. With this, I can create a cheap-man version of the Kaleidescape system. But both Kaleidescape and Drive-In are region code specific. If Drive-In supports multiple region codes, I don't mind paying more for the software. The region codes thingy is a stupid concept and should be abolished altogether. Another worrying thing for me is, if Flip4Mac folds, I will have a headache in future if Apple decides to change something in its future OSes. Then we are all f***.
