8BIT-WINTERMUTE  I tried using this software to sort out some notes for an ARG we're planning and I can say hands down that it is one of the ugliest and most un-mac like pieces of software I've used for a while.

The interface completely gets in the way of actually storing anything. Whilst the features seem good, and the concept is nice, the terrible interface makes this absolutely useless.

8BIT-WINTERMUTE  I did try this on an intel mac and it crashes out when you get to the speaking part of the tutorial - why make this PPC only these days??!

I would like to take part in the project but at the moment it won't work - everything else seems fine up to the speaking part

JORKIN  Thanks for your interest in the project. An Intel Mac version is in progress, but I am the only person working on this project, so this will take some time. I started the project before Intel Macs were available. The project web page does clearly state that the current version will not run on Intel Macs.

8BIT-WINTERMUTE  Would it have been a better idea to post the Mac screenshot instead of one from XP?

MACUPDATE ADMIN  The developer makes no Mac screenshots available, and the one you see is the one submitted by the developer. Complain to the developer.

8BIT-WINTERMUTE  Puzzled by the comment "Most Mac users have a spare computer sitting right next to their main computer on their desk"

I certainly don't

ATTENTIONWANDERED  lol i actually do.

alot of people start off buying a cheap used imac g3 or something to see how they like it, then step it up to a newer mac

PEANUT BUTTER  i don't, but I have a PC under my desk (usually off, with monitor sitting on desk powered down), 5 old ibooks on the shelf in deep storage, and a imac in the closet. But do I want to power up any of those macs just to use the screen? No. I would like to be able to use the PC's screen without disconnecting the cables and getting a 2nd video card for the mac - this could be the trick.

MACNERD1984  Well don't use the app then and stop wasting everyone's time with your vacuous statements.

****.

8BIT-WINTERMUTE  I switched to this from X-Chat Aqua. It's mac-like enough.

The only things that bug me are the growl-style popups that are a bit annoying, and I wish the nick column could automatically be as wide as it needed to be instead of me having to go back into the options to keep changing it. Other than that, this is the best mac client I've used for IRC.

It sits at 2% cpu use on my dual core iMac BTW not 65%

LEONCAHUN  2% cpu is only true when you use it _very_ carefully, like just letting drop in chat-messages, etc.

But: whenif you scroll in populated windows, when you change themes, etc. cpu-drawing jumps up very high (like 100% on a Core Duo), leaving the app temporarily unresponsive, therefore unusable, at least warming up your Intel-Mac.

It's a pity since otherwise this app could be _the_ OS X IRC-app.

But please fix ressource-management first. Thx.

JOHN NOWAK  Unfortunately, it'll never be fixed. There's massive incompetence on the part of the author.

8BIT-WINTERMUTE  This is a great program but it seems not to be using MANPATH because I can't make it find any of the Darwinports / fink installed manual pages.

This really limits the usefulness for me
