.GURU  Please re-update to 2.0.1 (330), because there was a tiny bug in 2.0.1 (229)... sorry for that!

.GURU  I will propose all my users to download version 2, but for those of you willing to live with an unsupported 1.X release will not be forced to update!

You can easily ignore the update notification and continue using 1.X

.GURU  I can understand your resistance to the fact that Shimo 2.X costs € 12,95 Euros. But please think of it from another standpoint: Version 2 supports many new VPN protocols and you can not only control Cisco's client, but even replace it completely! Shimo 2 is a standalone VPN client and on the Mac there's no other client that has that many features. Compare it with equinux VPN Tracker, which costs more than € 120 (factor of 10) and supports less protocols than Shimo 2!

Try it and you will see what I am speaking of...

For some weeks you can continue using Version 1.X, because I don't know yet what to do with the old version. Send me an email if you have any suggestions!

HAZMAT  I wasn't aware that this was a complete replacement for the Cisco client. I think you should make the clearer in the description. As for Shimo 1.0, I think it would be nice to keep it updated or make a cheaper version of 2.0 as simply what 1.0 was, a nice front-end to the existing Cisco client.

Thanks.

DANA SUTTON  When the author says that "we can" continue using v.1 for several weeks, what does this mean? Is there some way that he is going to disable v.1? Or just declare the licence void. Either way, especially since he has accepted donations from some users, I think he had better check with a good lawyer before trying to do this. Since v.1 was originally disributed as freeware I propose going on using it as long as it is technically feasible, and will only pay for v.2 if I have no choice (and if there is no alternative product available)

.GURU  I am really thankful for all of those who donated money for the development of Shimo 1.X !!! But I had to develop version 2.0 from scratch, which was a lot of time spent on programming. Therefore I had to change from donationware to shareware. Furthermore Shimo 2.X is not only an interface. It is a working VPN client on its own. In many cases you can even uninstall Cisco's client completely and just use Shimo with vpnc. It even supports other popular VPN protocols that no other client on the mac supports!

Please think again about your judgement...
