MACINEN Doesn't work with MS LifeCam NX-6000 :( Macam says the cam is not connected. I'm using the latest Leopard (10.5.6) on a MacPro. Applications like PhotoBooth and Skype are working ok by the OS, but the picture quality needs tuning badly. The Picture is much overbright and lacks color (the white balance is way off). Please developer try to make macam work with nx-6000.

TANKKNIGHT Works great with a USB PS3 HD Eye on my G4 MDD 1.42, but only generates a black screen on my G5 quad ... Of course I wanted the cam for the G5. I also tried a Logitech cam on the G5 with same result and based on web searches (that I did after I bought the cam) Macam doesn't work on the G5 quad.

BRUTHIAUX The driver works fine with my 3-year old Creative Labs N10225 / PD1130 camera. Thanks for this! Color and resolution are more than good enough for my needs (recording lectures for college students). It doesn't make me look like a movie star, but I'm beginning to suspect the problem is me, not the technology. :-)

MEGGANI Would be great, except the Logitech Quickcam Messenger gives a very pink,green, and odd-looking video on my intel 10.4.7 mac mini. Well, at least with the right settings I can have it black and white, which is better than nothing. Hopefully it will work with normal colors someday!

TARZAAAN With this new version, my Sonix-controller-based (SN9C102) webcam now works. Frame rates now are about two times those of the original Sonix drivers - with only just aver half the CPU load!

DAI YI Good news that this works with IceCam. I had endless problems with Macally's own driver (CPU spiked to 90%) and ended up returning the IceCam for an exchange. Have yet to receive the new camera but look forward to trying it with this driver. I hope it will solve the problem.

ANONYMOUS For anyone who has a kensington VideoCam webcam and you are getting really dark video,and adjusting the brightness isnt enough.Launch the Kensington VideoCAMworks in classic(classic not not os 9) and point the camera at whatever you are going to be recording.It will adjust the brightness automatically,then stop classic and start up macam and bam you got the corrent brightness going.Works perfect for me.

PETE Thanks to the generous Macam developer guys for a useful driver. Since so many webcam manufacturers left their products unsupported in OS X this was a really necessary piece of work. I have one of the kensington webcams that had the glitchy, stuttering video before i installed the new macam.component file- now i'm seeing nice quality video in imovie and yahoo! messenger works for me however IchatAV doesn't recognize the camera and wierdly, the macam application no longer works. When I first restarted with the component file in place (library/quicktime/) I was really worried cause my boot stalled and froze... three times! then I unplugged the usb cable (to the cam) and it seemed to sort itself out... the finder continued to boot and i haven't noticed a problem again. hmmm somebody mentioned another video viewer program so maybe I will try that. Thanks and know i appreciate your work and I'd love to see the 1.0 version of Macam

ANONYMOUS There is a Macam component patch that will fix the stuttering image problem associated with the Kensington VideoCam 67014, 67015, 67016, etc. and perhaps other brands. If you have the image stutter and jumping, replace the Macam.component that should be in your Library->Quicktime folder with the patched version available here: http://homepage.mac.com/lonsing/macam/ Note: this patched component is different than the "patched" Panther version of the Macam application & component available here. You use the Macam application from here (or any other app. such as Videoviewer, etc.), but replace only the macam.component with from the address above, which is what actually enables the camera (without stutter).

ANONYMOUS According to the iChatUsbCam author, macam is broken in panther. Myself, I got the standalone program to launch, but installing the component freezes iChat (donno about other apps). A temporary fix is supposed to be at this site: http://www.multi-cam.net/camera_downloads.html. Look halfway down the page for the patched macam that works with Panther (it's unofficial). ANONYMOUS The fix doesn't work for CPIA cameras at least. Plain 0.8 hangs when iChat is opened (once even crashed panter). With fixed 0.8 iChat opens nicely, but doesn't find the camera. With both versions, standalone macam program works just fine.

STUART MILLER Macam doesn't operate with the Digital Dream l'espion xtra. This camera is an upgrade of the standard l'espion and uses the STV674 instead of the STV680. I'd be pleased to hear from anyone who manages to get Macam working with this camera. (PS:I don't think it's appropriate to add a review.)
