ASH435  Doesn't seem to work with 10.4.8. Gave various warnings and then seemed to freeze up.

SJJ_PUBLIC  I paid for Location X a long while back and then stopped using it. Today, with this update, I rediscovered it. It is pretty cool, especially with the new automatic locations feature that can switch you between Location X locations automatically when you join or leave a particular wireless network. Nifty! I did see a bug several times though. Sometimes when I add a "shell script" action, I don't get the window allowing me to add any. Further, sometimes the UI becomes unresponsive and I can't do anything, not even quit - it just beeps when I try to. I have to force quit Location X and relaunch it when this happens. Otherwise this is looking great. Running 10.4.5 on a 15" PowerBook G4 1.5 GHz

MARK  Since my last comment/review, they have updated this to work with Tiger, and not only is it flawless, but they've added some new capabilities, including the ability to detect when its been moved to a new network, enabling it to change all its settings automatically. A GREAT program, and a no-brainer if you constantly are switching locations.

ANONYMOUS  I bring my PowerBook between home and the office every day, and used this frequently under Panther. At first, living without it in Tiger was an inconvenience.

Thankfully, I've found that all the functions for which I used it (switching network location, switching SMTP servers, toggling automatic checking of mail, switching default printers, changing sound volume) can be performed with Automator & Applescript in Tiger. I've got the same functionality back, in the form of one double-clickable Automator icon on my desktop, and it's free!

MARK  It was a great program, but it breaks under Tiger. While their website says they are working to update it, there is no estimate as to a date, and while I've sent them a note asking how long it would take, I've gotten no answer. Be careful NOT to buy it yet if you're running Tiger, as it will not work.

JEREMY   Good app, but a shame Apple couldn't include it in OSX. Hopefully for the guys they won't do a Konfabulator and add it just after people have paid for it (always a risk with really neat shareware !)

I've been trialling LocationX for the last couple of weeks and it's cool - much more comprehensive than the simple SMTP changers.

Sadly it's not 100% yet (doesn't change the Entourage default timezone to match the current location, no network re-connections etc)

I use a great app for Windows - MobileNetworkSwitch that achieves all this, and more, for $5 less...

That said, there's nothing like it for OSX and if I carry on working in two timezones I can see it becoming essential !

PMR  Phenomenal program. I'm a registered owner and use this program multiple times every single day of the year. The new features in this release add to an already impressive app. I don't know how any PowerBook owner could live without it.
