DIARBYRAG Me again, my mother and father always told me that it takes a strong person to admit when they were wrong or hasty when making comment... ...well that day is today, I have downloaded and tried the new improved Taco html edit and the component part is... very good, I don't think you make enough of that feature as I did not see it the first time and I can't think of another program that does it as simply, even Coda which I do really like does not appear to have anything similar... unless anyone knows better I will give it a thorough workout asap and perhaps apart from eating my words I may well be getting the credit card out (Version 2.5.3)

DIARBYRAG Hey I used this program for a while when I was on the css learning curve and for free it was ok. But 0 to 25$ is a step too far. 10$ maybe But after a due consideration I decided it was way better to spend the necessary $'s extra to buy coda which is way better. nice try, no cigar ! GHOKIE Taco's a good little program. I used v1.x (free) for basic code management. However, $24.95 for this program is a little steep. I've switched to Smultron, which has basically the same functionality and is free/donationware. If you're looking for a capable editor, give Smultron a try. (Version 2.0.6)

RICOBLUES I've use Taco for a lot, making 15$ of dontation. The software was not implemented so I switch to SkEdit (great editor). Programmers work must be supporte. Shareware is good, donationware too, but I'm very sad to know Taco is shareware without any information or upgrade policy. Have a nice day. Riccardo. (Version 2.0.5)

IRNBRU001 I've used it for a while now and I'm not impressed. I find all the features clunky. It just is not smooth enough or crisp enough to use for large projects. It's free but that doesn't make it worth using. (Version 1.7.2)

AKROBAT It's not meant for large projects as you put it. I suggest you use Dreamweaver or one of the other 'pay-through-the-nose' apps. Eveyone else here finds it definately worth using, so... that's your problem really. (Version 1.7.3)

KARL BENSON This has been absolutely essential in my work as a designer. As a person who works with the standards from the W3C (http://www.w3.org/), I find it to be best when you code by hand. All of those programs out there that let you produce the layout and then give you the code tend to output rather terrible HTML or XHTML. Doing it yourself not only lets you make sure that you're code is proper and well done, but it also allows you to acquire an excellent knowledge in how everything works. Taco HTML Edit may not have the most numerous or amazing features, but it gets the job done. It's quick to launch and doesn't interfere with my work when I'm fiddling away with my latest project. I must say, the developer has been quite useful for me. When he was working on PHP support in a beta version, I encountered a bug that crashed the program every time. Unfortunately, the thing that crashed it was the editing of a single line of code in my template file. I notified him and, in the next version to be released, the problem was fixed. Can't beat support like that. I hope to see this project continue to mature. I would love to see support for more markup languages, such as XSLT. Generic tag colouring for unsupported languages would be awesome if specific languages cannot be supported. I would also like to see colouring for CSS. With or without these features, however, I am nonetheless pleased with this program. (Version 1.7.1)

TOMIS A very nice update. Taco is getting pretty slick these days. Good clean MacOS X toolbar icons only add to this. There are some pretty powerful features in Taco, batch find/replace makes working on entire sites a breeze. The new spelling support needs contextual menu support. Once, that happens it will be a joy to use. Keep up the good work guys! (Version 1.7)

FLASHKIAI Great application - I tried several free editors, and this is, by far the best of them all. It has almost all features I need: 1. Working on whole projects - very useful - you don't have to open multiple windows an switch them all the time. 3. Tags ordering and checking. Tha app. is very flexible. The only thing I miss is CSS syntax higlighting - I can't understand why the author could not think about it. This woul make Taco the best tool - I wouldn't change it for any Macromedia or Adobe product. Sure you have to know HTML - but hey, this is a HTML editor and it should stay this way.

JEREMY This little app is phenomenal. I only downloaded it half an hour ago, and I've already used it to tidy up my website's main page. Neat. The only thing that detracts slightly from its merits is the interface. Nothing functionally wrong with it, but it could use the attention of someone with a talent for GUI design. But then it's free, so nitpicking about the interface is just churlish. An outstanding piece of work. I'm astonished by the power this application packs inside its modest size. (Version 1.6)

DAVE This app keeps getting better! I have been using it for a while and am always looking at new options, but keep coming back to Taco. I find the customizable quick insert menu very helpful since I do a lot of work from similar templates. The current release has a nice insert menu that will help many newbies who don't want to have to remember code. It is not meant to tech code, but I've learned a few things from its options. Keep up the development. Two improvements I see this might need: 1) Option to search for new updates (I was using v1.2 long after 1.5 was released) 2) Live preview is still not perfect. It worked with my small files with local references, but not my bigger files that have http link sources. (Version 1.5.1)

FF9LOK3 I just needed a quickie for a family homepage of photo albums. I might update the page 3 or 4 times a year. Applework 6 made a mess and the double save (http & cwk) is annoying. Of the freebies and demos (didn't try the sharewares) this was the easiest to use and figure out. You will need a little HTML knowledge or a pocket reference. Just wish the window view option (split or not) was a savable preference. (Version 1.5.1)

TONY Insanely ggggrreat ... about as good as its gets before Dreamweaver or BBEdit (according to taste). I just wish someone could make the live preview thing a two-way street, the way it is in Dreamweaver (drag over WYSYWYG text in he preview, code highlights in text editor, and vice versa). Silly? Do it in DW and you're hooked. (Version 1.5.1)

TOM Great program. No bugs found so far by me. Has few features, but a big plus for me is it color codes tags. I purchased HTML Creator, figuring it was a deal at the $15 or $20 I paid for it, but the guy who makes it refuses to color code tags. I've even emailed him about it in response to his "feedback" email he sent me. Nothing. I use Taco exclusively because what's most important to me is to have the features that make coding HTML easy and productive rather than focusing features I rarely use. Oh yeah, and it's free. JONEDWARDS Great stuff! Offers most of the same fundamental features as BBEdit, including color-coded tags, preview with browsers, find & replace, etc. The GUI could use some smoothing out, but not because it's difficult to use; the icons are just a little jagged. Otherwise, this is a great program for basic HTML coding! (Version 1.0)
