FUELLEMANN  One of the deepest storylines and one of the best RPGs beside Baldurs Gate II. DonĀ“t hesitate because of the graphic - the game is brilliant!

AL_GIOVANNI  Hey, Spider Web -- your MU icon doesn't do this game justice! That blurred, low-res dragon made me hesitate. I'm glad I downloaded the game, but I gotta admit, my very first impression was shaky. Just my 2 cents...

I'd also recommend you add a screenshot to this page. How 'bout it?

Otherwise... great game. Very involving!

SWILK  Spiderweb Software got me into mac gaming. Unfortunately, none of my friends understand why a 20 year old college girl opts for avernum in darkness rather than beer soaked frat parties. I'll tell you why: the game is amazing. I enjoy being able to control my own destiny in this game. No other RPG I've played allows me to do whatever I want, even killing the peasants! If you're a graphics snob, this game might not appeal to you, but it will challenge your brain and make you laugh.

SUPER MAN  Great game; graphics aren't super, but they're better than most other RPGs of this type (Decent character pics anyone?). This game gets a 5 for depth and flexibility. Play the demo for hours and hours, you'll see what I mean.

The Hints:

When starting out, specialize your characters; devote two of them entirely to Strength, Endurance, Melee skill, Defense, and Hardiness. Devote the third entirely to Dexterity, Bows, and Defense, with a little Endurance. The fourth character should have as much Mage Spell and Priest Spell skill as you can give them, focusing on Mage Spell skill to start.

Give the "skilled warrior" and "quick on feet" abilities to one of your fighters. Give "skilled warrior" and "toughness" abilities to your second fighter. Archer should have "nimble hands" and "quick on feet". The mage should have "quick on feet" and "expert mage".

MASTERKEW  This is easily one of the best Action RPG series that has been released for the Mac. Exile 3 had everything, from the addiction creating storyline and gameplay to the secrets that create the bet replay value.

Avernum 3, based on Exile 3, has it all, but better. At the very least, any true Adventure RPG fan needs to play the demo.

After Exile 3, if you ahven't played any other avernum game, the controls and changes to gameplay are a little... weird. But easy to get used to!

ISTARA  Avernum 3 is amazing - it totally lives up to all its promises as a rebuild of Exile 3 and sequel to A1 and A2. It has hundreds of hours of gameplay, you don't need to have played any of Spiderweb's games before to jump straight in and play (and win) this one. There are masses of quests, masses of powerful magic artifacts, it's just a great, thoroughly enjoyable game that people even on slightly older macs can enjoy.
