2006 to 2008 to get from 3.5a1 to 3.5a6? So can we can expect betas in 2009, and the final release by 2011?

JOELSCHMIDT2 I see the problem. it does indeed download a 3.5a1 DMG, but if you actually check the version of the ircle app, it says it is 3.5a2. (Version 3.5a2)

LETTUCE Would be even better if the download link actually downloaded a2, instead of a1. Don't bother going to the homepage just yet, either. The link nfor a2 downloadsÂ… a1. (Version 3.5a2)

XBOXDRUGGIE Yeah.. I paid for a license too back in the way back day... when the interface was akin to OS 9. Times have changed and unfortunately Ircle has adapted into the greatness of OS X and the wonders of fully carbon aqua goodness. Onno what is up? Do you just not care about Ircle anymore? RAZZ Ircle remains the best IRC client for the Mac. This baby installs and runs every time for me. Things I like: 1. It works reliably. 2. Access to IRC commands from the console. Most Mac IRC clients do not provide this or provide a very limited command capability. 3. Full DCC, Xserve, and CTCP capability 4. Video capability 5. Automated functions 6. Scripting 7. It's small footprint. Many IRC clients are bloated. Things I don't like: Too many windows to clutter the screen. On the other hand, I have a big screen so it doesn't bother me as much as when I had a smaller screen. Other clients go too far the other way by putting too much in one window, using tabs, etc. Maybe an option to use tabs would be nice. (Version 3.5a1)

ONAR VIKINGSTAD I tried the 3.5a1 but it just hangs when trying to start it on a MacBook Pro. It actually hangs the whole system, and it takes about 2 minutes before I can force quit it. If I remove the Ircle preferences it loads but then crashes right when it`s about to draw the windows. (Version 3.5a1)

ANONYMOUS Switched to XChat Aqua a long time ago. This program is outdated and only for those who hold onto it for nostalgic purposes. (Version 3.1.3b1)

ANONYMOUS absolutely comical that this thing still looks exactly how it did under system 7.0, and it's STILL in beta all these years later (Version 3.1.3b1)

HUCK I dunno, I don't think "bloated" when I think about Ircle. Sure, I wish the interface was simplified a bit. Colloquy looks like it's got a good idea. But then again, Colloquy isn't anywhere near as mature as Ircle. I don't feel good reading your posts when Ircle's always been there. (Version 3.1.2)

ANONYMOUS Colloquy is open source. Which means that one Colloquy month is roughly equivalent to one Ircle year. Colloquy has grown by leaps and bounds since this post was made, while Ircle has been static. (Version 3.1.2)

once upon a time ircle and snak were your only serious options for irc on mac (pre osx) thank god those days are over. i think the developer should concentrate on working on the interface, than bloating the app with silly "features" i wouldn't use this app even if i got paid. (Version 3.1.2)

ANONYMOUS Terrible user interface which completely clutters the desktop and looks totally out of place on OS X. If you've used it for a long time (pre OS X days) and feel at home here then it may suit you, or if you only wish to chat in a couple channels at a time it's manageble, otherwise give it a miss. ANONYMOUS This is dinosaur-age software - I first got online with a Mac in 1996 and on my ISPs setup CD was a beta version of Ircle 3.0. Eight years later we're all the way at 3.1.1. The only significant changes in the interim have been that it now runs on OSX, and you can have an input line per window. Wow. (Version 3.1.1)

TRIPHAZE It may be a dinosaur, but it does what it does without problems. FWIW, I was the third person to register way back in 1995, so I should know. (Version 3.1.1)

ANONYMOUS One could've said the same of System 6. There comes a time when you just have to evolve or die. Ircle's done neither. (Version 3.1.1)

HUWR Using this application is like beating your head against a brick wall. Unless you are a masochist and enjoy pain, treat yourself and download one of the better IRC clients. - Multiple windows (one for the huge input-line, one for the connections, one for the user list) is weird and unneeded clutter. - What's with the Mac OS 9 icon that I still get in the Finder? - ircle also eats babies. X9! PFt. This is the ONLY decent IRC app for Mac. XChat Aqua? Fugly. All the others? Psychotic and confusing layouts and horrible UI. This one also has more features than any IRC char app for the Mac. and it's stable. Never had it unexpectedly quit on me. I love this app. (Version 3.1.1)

GR The 90's just /msg'd and they want ircle back. Still slow and bloated, still no utf-8 support, still unpractical to use, still has a messed up interface, still uses messed up colour codes. Do yourself a favour and check out colloquy or xchat aqua. (Version 3.1.1)

ANONYMOUS I was there when Ircle first created the concept of "color" codes for text in IRC. The guy who made mIRC at first agreed to use the same scheme, which was logically organized and actually made sense. But at the last minute he renegged and barfed up the mIRC color code scheme which by all appearance was designed to be as incompatible as possible with Ircle. So you can thank the mIRC author for screwing up color text in IRC, not Ircle's author. And if you don't care for this software simply don't use it. (Version 3.1.1)
| Nov 28 2004 |
ANONYMOUS Slow and bloated how? You dont explain yourself very well. If the colour is the only thing you are really complaining about there are options within ircle prefrences to set the colour scheme to whatever the user wants. (Version 3.1.1)

BASTI Ircle is an old-school IRC client for the mac. I have been using it for years but I switched to Snak because Snak's interface is less bloated. I don't need most of Ircle's 'features'. Useful for the advanced 31337 user but too bloated for everyday use. (Version 3.1f2)

CURRAWONG Though it's rather long in the tooth, and a long time between updates, the real progress in this program is best measured by trying 3.0.4 again, which seems awful in comparison to 3.1. To it's credit, even alpha builds have been more stable than betas of most programs, and there have been few problems with beta builds. Although it's rather a cluttered and feature-overloaded program (show me an irc program with audio and video streaming!), it has useful features like buttons on the userlist and has far more options for the control of the program. To its detriment, it can't do an all-in-one-window layout like xchat or snak. (Version 3.1f1)

ONI i think IRCle its a good intenet relay chat client, but i still think that they are too much panels, it will be better if we can group tyhe panels and channels like Snak (Version 3.1b16)
