RABITZ I've got iOrganize 6.2.1. I like it but it sometimes doesn't save entries even though it's set to automatically do so, and I'm unable to install version 6.2.4 or to find version 6.2.3. I've tried reaching the developer several times with no success. Either iOrganize is no longer supported or it is inadequately supported, and I do not recommend it. (Version 6.2.3)

LEO SPILL WOW - iOrganize - iRemember ! Been three years or probably much more since I regularly used this. Weird to see it back (Like seeing an old girlfriend who while hasn't changed much still wasn't anything to look at in the first place ). Patched up to work with the latest OS yet nothing new or mind-blowing added. I've since moved on to DevonThink Pro and can't imagine returning. (Version 6.2.3)

BRUNO BLONDEAU Spotlight should be working fine. Below is a screen capture showing Spotlight in action: 1. Spotlight is able to search notepads directly (without exporting). In this example, ztest.iorgsql is found. This is done thanks to a spotlight plugin that is included in the iOrganize application. 2. Spotlight is of course able to search exported file, but this isn't the responsability of iOrganize, as exported files are in .rtfd/.rtf/.txt. These files are handled directly by MacOS X. An example is also provided in the following screen capture. Please note however that Spotlight is buggy on a few systems, and there's nothing iOrganize can do to solve these issues (a few workarounds are available on the Internet. In some cases, reformatting and reinstalling everything may be the only workaround) http://www.brunoblondeau.com/iorganize/misc/spotlight_in_action.jpg Screen shot (Version 6.1.2)

VIVALDI I'm using Iorganize 6.1.2 under Tiger (4.2) and having real problems with exporting files. (This problem also existed with ver. 6.0 and 6.1). No matter how I export (using the default "foldername" and "filename" titles, or my own titles; exporting to .txt, .rtf, etc) nothing turns up in Spotlight. I also visually inspected the folder (my Home folder) and found no matching subfolders in it. Unless I'm seriously misreading instructions, export under "File -- Current Category" does not work at all. One more general issue: why does a file have to be saved after opening it and doing nothing? Can't quite without saving. This is a minor inconvenience, true, but there should be an autosave option. BRUNO BLONDEAU Thanks for reporting these issues. The small issue after opening a file can be solved easily. A fix is going to be available in a future release. Autosave is also planned. Don't hesitate to send me an email directly. Most bugs are solved in a matter of days if not hours when reported. As for the Spotlight issues, I unfortunately can't do much, as they seem to be due to your system. http://www.brunoblondeau.com/iorganize/misc/spotlight_in_action.jpg Don't hesitate to contact me, I will be pleased to help you to find a solution. ANDREAS iOrganize became a central application for me. (registered since 4-20-2003) At first glance I missed favorites, until I made a list without categories: (="hide category column") sorting by priority. The change from the old interface felt a little hard in the beginning, but it turns out to be worth it. Thanks to the developper! (Version 6.0.3)

NETKAT I've used iOrganize since 2002...this is a VERY nice upgrade...or more of an evolution. Interface changes (panes now allow viewing of categories, note titles and note content all at once) make for even more simple and efficient use than before; stuff's all there right where you need it and way less scrolling. Well worth the bucks; I've used it every day since the first time I downloaded it. (Version 6.0.2)

JOJOXMAN Just got the reply from Bruno, very fast. Solved the problem with Chinese search feature with the update that Bruno sent me. New hotkey added for deleting a note and/or category. I've sent a email with a list of functions I like to see. Hope they get implemented soon. (Version 6.0)

KELTER iOrganize 6.0 new UI is far slicker than the 5.x UI. Some things that I don't think folks get here is that the application can store ALL kinds of info - not just notes. Anything from snippets of text, to PDF files, photos, etc... Additional features that seem to be unstated but are "in there" and helpful - Spotlight indexing, "live" searching, timestamps, modification times, drag and drop from other apps. (Version 6.0)

BRUNO BLONDEAU Tomax: there's already a shortcut to hide the category column. I can easily add a shortcut for the note list if needed. While it can be disturbing at first to move from iOrganize 5 to iOrganize 6, most beta-testers now love the new user interface, and it should also be easier to use for new users. iOrganize 6 was indeed designed to look like Mail, which probably features the best possible user interface to search/collect/sort: no drawer, everything visible on screen, easy to drag&drop a note in another category. Well, probably not the best user interface for _all_ users/uses, but let's say for most (as Mail, iTunes, iCal, iPhoto, XCode... are all using a similar user interface). To anybody: don't hesitate to send feedback by email. All comments are read and taken into account. Features requested by several persons have more chances of being taken into account, so don't hesitate to send feature requests even if they seem obvious to you. (Version 6.0)

TOMAX Bruno, what?!?! i try for so long to help you improve iOrganize, now you come out with something that looks like everything else, and makes the same ui mistakes?! at least you finally got a global Search, but the rest - all the stupid panes gotta be open, taking up space and distracting... old iOrganize was much better, except no global Search. all it needed was that, and a drop-down menu to select notes from categories... one big writing area! minimal mousing! it would have been Beautiful, Perfect! :( you almost had it, dude. bah. this app has officially jumped the shark. it's not bad but now is nothing special. try iNotePad before buying. it's not perfect but it's currently the best for me. i switched to it because there was no global Search before... hint: you could have me back if you made the contextual menu that lets the user select notes from categories... and maybe switch back or prefs to allow swapping categories/notes panes (most people have many more notes than categories...look at the vertical space!) JOJOXMAN I am comparing this app to Hog Bay Notebook. Main problem is with the Traditional language processing. I've noticed the following small issues: 1. Chinese (traditional) character problem, sometimes it turned back into symbols, this happened in the body of a note. 2. search function doesn't work with Chinese. 3. Not enough hotkey, especially for deleting a note or category. 4. highlight function is kind of weird - I can press the highlight button in the toolbar, but cannot cancel it, pressing the hotkey doesn't help either. I had to select part of the highlighted test then press the hotkey to remove highlight to get back to normal. 1. Table creation - you can create simple table in the note body. 2. interface - very simple, and clean 3. speed - so far, very fast Overall, not a bad app, just need some polishing-up. I've send email to the developer already, let's see what they say. (Version 6.0)

ANONYMOUS Not really trouble, but a tendency that users should be aware of. On trying to do a search-and-replace (through a PERL script) of a text file exported by Iorganize, I discovered that Iorganize silently writes to Unicode formatting (by using "Export Category..."). While this is fine for non-Roman alphabet users, it also means that null characters are interpolated between each character, making any search-and-replace impossible without changing the encoding to ISO Latin or some other single-bit form. To developer: might it be possible in future versions to change this behavior in Preferences? (Version 5.5.4)

SPWARF iOrganize is now opened all the time on my G5 iMac - I'm throwing in there tons of info, and it's now replacing all least 3 apps! I had one systen hang (probably related to iOrganize) and one sudden quit, but since the, everything is fine! You can also save when you want, and you can view and work with more than one notepad at a time. It really is simple and powerfull - less bloated than Stickybrain. (Version 5.5.4)

LARS regarding the daily backup: iOrganize creates a new daily backup only when you quit the app. That means, when you dont shut down your computer or you dont close iOrganize in three days, the "daily backup" is then three!!! days old. I guess, that is not really inituative... (Version 5.5.4)

MARIUS again (the second time), I couldn't open an iOrganize document any more. It occurs, when my system (10.3.5) didnt react after it woke up from sleeping mode. After system-restart this special iOrganize document gets corrupted. All the other iOrganize documents, which were not open, before i went to sleeping mode, still work. Thank god, i have a daily backup. But I lost two hours of work and finally my confidence to this app. Now I am forced to look for alternatives :-( (Version 5.5.3)

DANNY I compared iOrganize with Macjournal. Is there any reason, why to pay for iOrganize? Macjournal is for free, has the better interface (I think), the same functions and stability like iOrganize and above that, you can protect your entries with a password. I paid for iOrganize a long time ago. But now I am a bit dissapointed, that a freeware program seems to do its job much better. Maybe I am wrong... Hopefully there will be an upcoming major relaese. DARYLF2 I've used many examples of this type of note-taking tool, and iOrganize is the best that I've found. It's simple, but still has all the features I find most important (categories, styled text, good search function, good import/export capabilities, integrated backup, and excellent stability). The developer is also very responsive! (Version 5.5.3)

RAFIKI I agree about category management. While the program is very strong in a variety of aspects - stability, ease of use, feature set, etc., I prefer the freeware MacJournal's cleaner interface. ANONYMOUS iorganize is great, BUT be careful when your system crashes. the last four month my os crashed after the sleeping mode twice, and every time the iorganize-database got corrupted. then I lost my data, i have put in the database since my last backup. GRADUS iOrganize is a nice and straightforward program, but there's nothing about it that justifies the $20 price tag. It is very similar to MacJournal which is free and has even more features (like encryption and automatic backup). With iOrganize, you definitely get less value for your money. Instead of charging $20 for an app that can't compete with a freeware program, the developer should add some features that make iOrganize superior to MacJournal. How about multiple databases, better support for OS X services, an option to display categories vertically or horizontally, another sub-level of categories? There is a lot of room for improvements that would not compromize the simplicity and straightworwardness of this program. In it's current shape, however, it's probably the weakest among the many freeware and shareware notepads for OS X. If you don't like MacJournal for some reason, check out Jotz, Xnippets, IdeaSpiral et al. and compare them to iOrganize - they all have either more features or a lower price tag, or both. SEAN It's a great application! I use it whenever I need to take some notes on my computer. The best thing about it is there is no limitation of use even though it's shareware. A reminder pop-up window doesn't really bother me, and I guess I'm gonna pay $19.95 soon. (Version 4.4.5)

KP Great features. Simple to use. I loved this app on OS 9 and it is almost as good on OS X, which sadly has no notepad.app (though the new stickies are cool, how many of those things you want sprinkled on your desktop?) It seems like this is the most powerful and flexible of the bunch, but the interface takes up quite a bit of screen real-estate compared with jotz, which, while not as fully featured as this, is a much smaller app all around. Having a tough time deciding between the two. (Version 4.2)
