F451 Softchaos was bought out by illumineX, inc. They are going to be further developing Webtractor and Yoink, but no word about Workstrip. (Version 3.2.3)

F451 I have reviewed and tried every other app out there as a replacement for Workstrip and NONE, absolutely NONE, are near the level of work production that Workstrip provides. It will be a sad day when Workstrip ceases working for me altogether as it so comprehensive in nature it should be part of the Mac OS system. (Version 3.2.3)

DEVON CHATTERLEY Can anyone help me with WorkStrip? I just updated my iMac PPC G5 (not Intel) to Leopard (10.5.4) and updated the WorkStrip to 3.2.3. version. It is working ok, but the instant preview is not instant but buried under "More..." option in the contextual menu. I have not seen anyone mention this in the previous comments and I did see that a few people have PPC and are running Leopard so I guess it is working for them. Any help is appreciated. I use Workstrip primarily for instant preview option. I know Leopard has some preview options through Cover Flow but I deal with a lot of graphics files (AI, PSD, IND, EPS etc) for which Cover Flow does not work. I also like the option of previewing a file without going through a Finder window. Any help is greatly appreciated.

PETER N I have just spoken by telephone to Gary at Illuminex, and, unfortunately there are no plans to re-release Workstrip or update it, The reasons are largely technical, the way it was written originally, and a perceived lack of demand. I wanted a second licence key to enable me to run two copies on the same network, but he is unable to generate this. In these circumstances, is anyone willing to share theirs with me? F451 Utterly disheartening and I hope they make it open source to allow someone else the potential to continue development of Workstrip since Workstrip is more at home with Leopard that any other previous Mac OS. (Version 3.2.3)

NUVS I too am a long-time user of WorkStrip. I have been using 3.2.2 on a PowerBook, but now I have a new MacBook Pro. Anyone have a copy of 3.2.3 that you can send me? (Version 3.2.3)

MACUPDATE ADMIN I found an archive of the file, version 3.2.3, and have uploaded it to the MacUpdate server, it is now available via the 'Download Now' link on the MacUpdate page for WorkStrip. (Version 3.2.3)

MACSTERDAM another huge fan here. sorry the company is no longer in business. should any of the original developers read this: firstly, I hope you've on to do other fun stuff. secondly, any chance of releasing the source-code? workstrip is to wonderful to let is disappear. (Version 3.2.3)

F451 As a huge fan of Workstrip I am sorry to see that it has disappeared. I see no substantiation about the circumstance of how SoftChaos disappeared, just hearsay. There is no "time bomb" as version 3.2.3 was made for Intel and version 3.2.2 made PPC. So it you moved to the Intel version that is where the issue occurs if you are running a PPC. Since Leopard has what I am looking for in the way of Workstrip's replacement I am simply waiting out Leopard's release as my version of Workstrip works with no problem. (Version 3.2.3)

HANK2 Defunct???? Uh, oh.
Softchaos website isn't available.
I just started getting popups yesterday saying I had another copy of Workstrip running on my network, so my Workstrip was having some of its functionality disabled.
I'm not on a network. I have only one copy of the app.
Anyone have a clue what's going on with Workstrip? (Version 3.2.3)

APPLE CODER I have used this for 4 years now and it is on all my Macs (5) and I have 23 people that I got to use it. They all love it as I do. Made life much easier, and I have had no trouble contacting them, and I have needed a better habit to use, this is it. Does more than I use it for. (Version 3.2.3)

CYBERATOMIC Is this app every going to be updated? I paid good (most would say way too much) for this software, however there are no updates, no news, nothing. The developer does not even respond to it's paying customers questions! We badly need a Universal Binary version of this program, but there is no word about this anywhere. Anyone who is looking for a dock replacement - look elsewhere. I did. I just paid for DragThing which is already Universal Binary even though the developer was in the hospital! Save your money and pass on this program which is dying on the vine - sad too. (Version 3.2.2)

ANONYMOUS I prefer Drop Drawers, which has the tabbed feature the previous reviewer asked about. I find it works a bit faster and more intuitively easy than Drag Thing (which is still a fine program). But if you tinker with Drop Drawers for awhile, you begin to discover just how much functionality the developer put into it. Beyond that, I've also found the Drop Drawers developer to be responsive to requests. Just my two cents here. (Version 3.2.2)

MARVIN DANIELSON I'm sure many of WorkStrip's features might someday become a godsend, when and if I chose to relearn my habits. But I can't replace my dock with something that doesn't behave like the dock. Most notably and regrettably, it doesn't display contextual menu items for apps like iTunes, Adium, Mail... am I supposed to get a widget for every one of those? Even so, it might almost be worth its outrageous price just for the tabs, which I've been searching for lo, these five years. Anybody know a shareware/freeware app/haxie that makes the whole screen edge beneath the dock (not just the arrows) clickable? (Version 3.2.1)

ANONYMOUS Try Drop Drawers. It does not have the contextual menu features you might want with iTunes and such, although it does allow you to pop up folders and select contents. But overall, it's my main shareware of choice. Once I explored its features for awhile, I found out that it's exceptionally versatile. I tend to prefer it over Drag Thing (which also works fine). I find Drop Drawers to be faster and slightly more intuitively friendly. (Version 3.2.2)

MIKE BUETTNER Great app. Unfortunately I too have run into the "validation problem" with no response from SoftChaos. Too bad. I can''t even find all the resources so I can get rid of it. No unistaller. (Version 3.2.1)

KIDCOOL Watching my processor usage, Workstrip, as it sits idle uses 2-4 percent. The minute I begin mousing, it has jumped as high as 14% and will stay there as long as the mouse is moving. Wrote the developer a couple of days ago and no word yet. Anyone else have this problem? I also think a spacer or divider tab would be a welcome feature. Other than that great software! JANE WATSON I think WorkStrip 3.0 is a fantastic file management tool. I work on a number of projects at a time and since Ive started using WorkStrip Im finding that i am spending less time hunting for files and images and actually being more productive. The previewing ability of images is so useful as most of mine have stupid names so not having to launch Photoshop or Illustrator let's my struggling PowerBook of the hook until Ive found the right ones. The Dock seems so basic compared to the abilities and features of WorkStrip 3.0. Everyone should be working with this App!! (Version 3.0)

S. HOVDE Cool! When I first started it up, it lined up all it tabs right on top of my Drop Drawers tabs and I groaned. I was sure I could move the WS tabs to another edge of the main screen, but what I really wanted was to move them to a different edge of a _different_ screen. Then I discovered that this is indeed possible from the preferences! This is incredibly elegant and useful software. After playing with it for just 30 minutes, I paid the shareware fee. I am looking forward to building up all of my different work spaces! (Version 2.5.1)

POSHBIRD This is a great little app, and fab if the dock irritates you. Coupled with WindowShade (so you don't have to minimise things to the dock) and you have the perfect way to work on OS X. (Version 2.0)
