MAXOUT The feature set is not bad, but the app is unstable: it crashed on attempt to kill a thread on a G3 iBook with OS X 10.3.9. (Version 1.0rc2b)

ANONYMOUS and that would likely be due to the fact that development stopped on this app almost two years ago. (Version 1.0rc2b)

REVERB A little rough around the edges -- spelling mistakes in the interface, drawers that overlap each other, etc. But it has some nice features and worked well enough. Could be a really great newsreader with some more work. (Version 1.0rc2b)

ANONYMOUS Just downloaded this and will be switching from MTNW, abandonware or not. Works fine on 10.3.7. Thanks to the developer for making the source available - hopefully its useful life will be extended (Version 1.0rc2b)

GARBAGE -: ABANDONWARE :- Unfortunately, due to a lot of reasons, I am giving up developing a PUBLIC version of Halime from now on. Please feel free to download the source code above, which represents the latest version of Halime. Please don't ask me for any support on the source code, use it as it is. You can in fact download, extract and startup Project-Builder to build a copy of your own. I would like to thank all of you for your support and help and wish you all the very best. (Version 1.0rc2b)

ALEXMATHEW Absolutely Stable on mY OS X 10.2.8 with Ver 1.0rc2b. Much better interface than MT-NewsWatcher. - does not confirm if message has been posted or not if SMTP server address is incorrect. - more decoding types should be supported by adding helper applications. But even otherwise, the feature set is excellent! (Version 1.0rc2b)

DENNIS RUDDELL I'm more than inpressed with the interface as it *almost* approaches Gravigy for Windows. The only problem I figgle with is sometimes the reader just won't pick up all the posts from the server. If anyone can give more advice, please post it here and/or email ruddell@unibase.com But I do think this application is going to go much further and thank all involved for the effort...

CHRISCHRAM Am I just dreaming that someday there may be a version of this program that doesn't crash when one tries to kill a message thread?! (Version 1.0rc2b)

ANONYMOUS This will never be a fast/stable/killer newsreader as long as the author stores everything as objects in memory. Until the author uses a database framework (a search on MacUpdate shows a couple), Halime will always have a large footprint in memory as well as on disk. (Version 1.0rc2)

MARK This will be a killer newsreader when it's more stable. As it is, it takes about a minute and a half to open (if it opens without crashing) and several minutes to close, it doesn't seem to be able to sort headers chronologically with the latest posting at the top (unless I'm missing something), decoding multi-part attachments needs to be more intuitive and reliable. Overall, it's slow. Having said all that, I use it all the time and it is (excepting Pan), the best newsreader out there. Looking forward to the next rev! (Version 1.0rc1)

ANONYMOUS What an absolute piece of garbage this new version is. The older versions actually worked better. Doesn't connect to server consistently, and refuses to load headers most of the time. I think I've gotten this version to work once since downloading it (Version 1.0rc1)

DAVE A clean, simple user interface. A bit unstable as it is still beta software. A bit of a memory leak. No feature (that I have yet figured out) that enables you to set a default directory for saving files. All in all, an excellent, simple newsreader that needs some improvement. Try it and send feedback to Halime. (Version 1.0b1)

ANONYMOUS Not obvious how to use it - so complicated it's frustrating. Batch downloading of binaries gobles up more disk space than the actual download uses! (Version 0.9.4)

ANONYMOUS I am a die-hard usenetter, always used Brian Clark's workings (YA-NW, Thoth). I have been usenetting for about 9 years now. Halime is a vision of the future, and the fact that I am holding a copy of it in my hands is very exciting. You can pry my Brian Clark products from my cold, dead fingers, but you'll notice a Halime stuck into my back pocket from now on. Very, very very nice. I see a lot of potential here. Well done. ANONYMOUS I am new to newsreader programs, except for limited use of Netscape. I really like Halime. It still needs some work, and I found it to be unstable if I try to load multuple groups in one subscription... other than that, I really like it. It is not terribly user friendly, but I chalked that up to me not being familiar to newsgroup readers. I tried some other free programs out there and came back to Halime. (Version 0.8.9pl4)
