EMILIO the scanner works well, but in the background it leaves an EPSON helper application, "EPSON Scanner Monitor" (that forever searches for the scanner) that takes up to 10% of CPU processing time on a 1.33 G4 17" Powerbook. Unchecking Epson Scanner Monitor from the list of apps launched at login has no effect - you have to manually kill the application from terminal or process viewer. That's no nice for people who, like me seldom use the scanner... at least on this machine ;) (Version 5.75a)

SHINZA.COM Although it's not noted here, there is a newer version (oddly numbered 1.25A -- don't ask) of the Epson software that includes more than just a TWAIN driver. It was released in Sept 2003 and appears to work for most people in both Jaguar and Panther. Some people have found problems using the newer software on Panther with Firewire-based Epson scanners, however, and have reverted back to 5.75A. I'm using the newer 1.25A software with a Perfection 610 on Panther, and it works flawlessly. The software can be downloaded directly from the following link: ftp://ftp.epson.com/drivers/epson10867.sea.hqx (Version 5.75a)

WARREN WEST I have an Epson CX 3200 printer/scanner/copier with a USB connection. For the life of me, I cannot get the scanner to work with my G4 Powerbook, running OS X Jaguar 10.2.8. Epson cannot solve my problem and I cannot open the links they provided, let alone download any update drivers or Twains. All that happens, is the page seems to refresh itself, with no download.????? TED I have been using Epson 1260 Perfection Scanner in Photoshop 6 via (Classic 9) while running in OS X 10.1.3. All was OK until I upgraded to 10.1.5. Now, when I import Epson Twain, a dialog box appears telling me that the scanner is not connected, yet, you can hear the scanner warming up. I've upgraded Twain Software v. 10588 prior to this occurrence. Is 10588 for OS X 10.2 and higher? Or is it needed for 10.1.5?

ANONYMOUS This version of twain works also with the Epson 1200 Photo scanner. (twain 5.75a is not listed on the epson site as a driver for this type of scanner ) So if your looking for a OS X compatible driver for your scanner and you can't find one - try and use this one. Epson should go to hell for their crap support. (Version 5.75a)

PAUL RUSLING In response to the comment "Epson should go to hell for their crap support" I agree entirely. I have a 2450 that I have to keep System 9.2 running on a nother amchine to be able to use, as it refuses my other 3 Macs, all on OSx10.3. Epson is dreadful for Mac users - and their printer support is dreadful. I paid £4,000 for an Acculaser 8500 printer 2 years ago and a simple JAM message fault means EPSON demand a n up front payment of £800 to attend and look at it. (its a fuser assembly problem). Why do they hate us Mac users so much? Are they a Microsoft company? (Version 5.75a)

ANONYMOUS I installed this build of the twain driver under OS 10.2.1, and used it with the epson perfection 1250 (haven't tried the transparency adapter yet). Image capture worked fine, but you still need to cancel the auto scan to get into manual adjustments. I had no problems making a 300 dpi scan. Image capture, however, promptly quit itself after the save finished and Preview launched itself. (Version 5.75t4 )

On that point then I would like to know of any hints or tips on scanning negatives, film and slides. Many thanks, Jed. (Version 2.34a)

BOB MILES I have a PowerMac G4 and a Perfection 1650 Photo Scanner. I've installed OS 10.2 and it works with all my hardware/sofware without any problems expect for the Epson scanner. Image caputure does reconginze the Epson TWAIN driver 5.75t3, however it only will save the preview scan resolution (72dpi) not the resolution scanned. Also, GraphicConverter and SilverFast do not recognize the scanner or 5.75 TWAIN driver. The 5.75 TWAIN driver is useless to me. I'm using the scanner in OS 10.1.5 with the Espon beta Scan to File. I've been to all the help sites and have spent many hours without success trying to get the Epson scanner to work under OS 10.2. (Version 5.75t3 )

AARON MARKS I love it! Scans perfectly, both on fully automatic mode and in manual. Image Capture worked beautifully. Photoshop 7 however was not able to see the scanner (epson perfection 1250). Still, I'm very happy to be scanning in Jaguar! Now somebody tell me why I couldn't find this application on Epson.com but instead had to look to macUpdate?? Don't get me wrong, I love MacUpdate, but Epson's web site makes it very clear that they don't support OSX yet, and here they apparently do. (Version 5.75t3 )

ANONYMOUS well like most printing and scanning tasks for Mac OS X, this latest driver almost works. I installed it, then rebooted, and then tried to use Image Capture to scan a photo. It displays the overview just fine and then you can print it. But the SCAN button is grayed out, that is you cannot save it to a file. Next I tried to use Photoshop to start a scan, but it complains that no scanner has been installed. Go figure. (Version 5.75t3 )
