EELCO DEULING  I have tested TextSoap and Clean Text and settled on Clean Text because it's cheaper.

They offer more or less the same functionality but TextSoap wins: it's more simple to write your own actions and the services are more useful than those of Clean Text.

However: Clean Text offers all I need out of the box. I don't mind opening the app and make all the tweaks I need in the app. If you want to automate everything and don't mind paying more (and enjoy a more refined interface) you will like TextSoap more.

TIMSTRINGER  Just wondering how Clean Text compares to TextSoap?

Does anyone have any feedback to contribute based on experience with both applications?

ANONYMOUS  They priced themselves out of a sale. I use this program quite a bit and finally justified paying $15 for it. I went to buy it and now the price is $19.95. I'll pass.

KINGADROCK  I have to agree with you. The application itself is great. I've been a registered user for quite some time. $24.95 is way too much money for this kind of app though. Should be priced at $15 max.

BRUCE_Y  They seem to be on some sort of price hiking spiral.

Even though there have been NO UPDATES since march of 2007, they have raised the price yet again ...

was $15, then 20, then $25, now its up to $35. With no improvements. I really don't know what they are thinking. The product may be OK, but if all their development effort is limited to updating the product price list, well, not a good sign.

(I guess we can expect version 5.0.0.0 to be priced at about $50 or so by end of 2008)

KINGADROCK  Since it was the MacUpdate Promo today, I downloaded and tried the latest version of Clean Text.

I gave it a fairly thorough run through and found nearly no changes to the version I currently own and use (3.4.1).

I agree with you, I don't know what the heck this company has been doing with their products other than raising their prices.

No thanks.

PAUL  At $15 I feel it's overpriced a bit, but I've tried all the rest and inevitably when I need to clean up an eMail before I fwd I find myself downloading this little jem and waiting though the required reminder-ware notice. No funky instalation or preferences and it works out-of-the-box without having to read the directions - just like a Mac!

TED  I've to disagree with the reviewer before me. WordService is a nice utility for casual users, but Clean Text is better for repetitive jobs, as e-mail cleaning. You can apply several filters with just one click, and you can also save the filters you used as a custom preset, so that you can rerun it again later. Clean Text is a great time-saver, given my needs. With WordService I would have to apply one service at a time. Thanks, but no thanks.

HYPER  I have used it years ago. And, it has not change much since then (if it has at all). Try WordService with combination of any Cocoa apps like TextEdit or Mail. You will get a simpler process with more options.

ANONYMOUS  The application is quite easy to understand, the interface is really transparent, and it even supports regular exressions now - it's a huge step forward.
