LUKECOMINS This wee app has always been terrific! Why Mac doesn't give us options to make these changes to our dock in the actual 'Dock Preferences' I really don't know... I have made use of TranspDock on all my Macs over the last however many years BUT please note - there is still no MacOS Intel compatible version available. You mention that "Verison 2.3.9 updated for compatibility with Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.8" but do not state that it is for PowerPC only, and not the Intel Macs... Come on Free Range® and do the homework so we can have our beloved Transparent Dock once again. Long live transparent docks! (take note Apple!) (Version 2.3.9)

DSOSB I have been waiting for a long time for the universal version of this terriffic app. I really do miss it! I have used it for years now and it was always the first app I updated when I upgraded software. Please get an Intel happy version out ASAP. MACUPDATE ADMIN From the developer's site: "Why no Intel version?... Until a couple of weeks ago, the primary reason would be no Intel machine available for testing. Recently though, I was finally able to purchase my first Intel-based Mac (actually my first Mac purchase since my G3 Powerbook in 2000). I've now received that MacBook Pro and assessing the possibility of reworking TransparentDock to allow customization of the Dock on the Intel-based Macs. What I've found so far is that the current patches that were established for Dock customization by TransparentDock on PowerPC-based Macs will not work for the Dock on the Intel Macs. So it seems it will take some time to determine what's possible, and whether perhaps an entirely different approach may be necessary. So, I guess the short(ish) answer now would be I haven't yet established access to many of the TransparentDock options for the Dock running on Intel Macs. So... why do other application(s) continue to work on both PowerPC & Intel Macs that modify the dock appearance? Mainly due to a different patching approach, for which I have only found success with modifying the dock window attributes (color, transparency, etc.). Many of the other dock customizations available within TransparentDock have proven more difficult to access using current patching methods." (Version 2.3.9)

TOMIS Excellent! Now I can have my transparent background back, just the way it should be. Maybe Apple will get a clue about this one day, that background just looks silly after you've used the dock without a background. My only problem with TransparentDock is that the developer designed it in such a way that he needs to make a release each time apple updates the OS. I understand this is to keep us from messing up our systems, but that's what backing up is for. Would be nice if we could over-ride this hand-holding. (Version 2.3.7)

JUMP420 best app for the dock. I don't know why Apple doesn't just buy them out and include this feature on their OS by default. It's simply the best. Be wary of Clear Dock as it is made by Unsanity. BERND Solution to lost contextual options: The dock changed with TD does not contain foreign localisations. At least on a german system that is true. In the package contents of the Dock.app (it lies in /System/Library/CoreServices/) you find a folder named "your language.lproj" and that is empty. You can copy the files missing in that folder from the backup of your dock that you made with TD. I recommend to substitute the complete ".lproj"-folder. If you made no backup, you can use Pacifist to install the localized files again. (Version 2.3)

SHROOM This utility seems to customize every single aspect of Dock.app not possible with any tool currently out there. There is one problem and it seems to leave Dock.app's permissions in disarray after running it. Could it be that it applies the changes without changing them back? I still give it 5 stars even though of that little problem. If you give an app 5 stars yet it has a little problem, then it must be good, yes? (Version 2.2)

ANONYMOUS This software made my dock behaves weird. When i hit command-TAB, applications's names are scrambled. If i switch on to the default Dock.app, then erything goes back to normal. Don't use this unless its author do something about that bug. (Version 2.2)

ANONYMOUS That bug is apple's fault. Not TransparentDock's fault. When you increase the font size, it doesn't display text properly in the switcher or in expose. Blame apple. (Version 2.2)

CHARLIE L I'm running 10.2.8 and when I first tried this program I loved it, but after a few days my dock got screwed up. When I open the application it doesn't do anything for a few seconds, flashes a dialog box saying something about an error, asking me to fix it, then quits without giving me enough time to read the message. I finally got my dock to work again thanks to the backup, but even after reinstalling, I still can't get TransparentDock to work. (Version 2.2)

Please send me an email (email link is in the ReadMe file or available on my web site) so we can figure out why it's not working on your system. Thanks, Kevin (Developer) (Version 2.2)

BOB_WEINER TransparentDock works as advertised, and adds even more Dock customizations than simply making it transparent. Works fine under Panther (I'm running it with OS X 10.3.1) on a Dual 2GHz G5. (Version 2.2)

ANONYMOUS this works great. using osx 2.6 with dockfun v3.7.2 and everything just works fine and you dont have to have an extra program running as it changes the dock app itself and lets you make a backup of your original. i tried cleardock and it would not work with dockfun (Version 2.1)

ANONYMOUS excellent program.. since it alters the app its effects are permanent and it doesnt use up power. In addition, it has been stable with OSX through 10.2.6, however it is no longer compatible with 10.2.8. updating to 10.2.8 will remove color and transparency settings from the dock, attempting to mod the dock using the program again results in a nonfunctional dock. behaviors i noticed before launching the backup copy of the dock on 10.2.8 were: -nonfunctional/nonexistent dock -first itunes then safari crashed -desktops set to cycle once a minute were cycling once every 3-5 seconds. note: launching the backup copy of the dock immediately restored stability, however i miss my darker, richer dock with purdy colors =P~ and have already sent in my email offering royalties for a prompt update (Version 2.0.2)

ANONYMOUS Was a great hack when it was FREE but now for $8.00 I don't think it is that great, especially when you find out that OS upgrades with it installed go really BAD. (Version 2.0.2)
