4QVS  As I am using this little app since ... (so long I forgot)

I agree a 100% with the previous 4 reviews!

It just works (if you know what you are doing)

As a Mac Admin I could not live without it!

I specially like the feature to remove ACLs

FORMICA  Fantabulous. Enabled me to fix the permissions of a Firewire drive that had somehow gotten screwed up, and now I can recover the data on the drive before erasing and reformatting it. I'm very pleased.

BRIANHOLMES  This app is excellent at removing the ACLs! Instantly goes through and removes all previous ACL's including the folders and items in the folders. I've tried a few of the other apps that remove the acl's along with doing other permission changes and I've found that it works better (and quicker) to use a seperate app for that and just have the 2 windows open.

SAM ROWLANDS  BatChmod brings back a familiar interface that works. The GetInfo window in Leopard's Finder doesn't work half the time and prefers to display a bunch of permissions for 'Unknown' that cannot be changed. It doesn't matter how many times I repair my permissions these files are always buggered. BatChmod to the rescue, not only is its interface logical, it works too! Darned amazing if you ask me. Once the permissions have been fixed with BatChmod they show and work correctly in the Finder, Result!

DALLASCLUBGUY  Something I did caused the permissions on 4 outboard hard drives to go to "Custom" and a small lock icon to appear in the lower left hand corner of the drive icon. I could no longer open the drives. I was told I did not have adequate permissions. I could unlock the pad lock located in the get info area, but I could not change anything. This wonderful utility was able to bypass this lick level and get to where it was really locked and undo my mistake. It's simple. It works. It really works well.

JONATHAN9  I've encountered that same problem with outboard drives and a Drobo with 4Tb

I've downloaded BatCHmod but I'm not clear about the precise settings to use. I've sent a note to the developer but incase I don't hear back, I'm hoping you'll share your settings.

Thank you

HANDYCAM  I see no way to apply the changes as a super-user.

I tried using this on a folder full of files and folders, and although it gave no error, the contents of the folder were NOT changed.

I went to Terminal and did sudo chmod -R and it worked. Note doing this without sudo gave me a bunch of errors in terminal -- so obviously one needed to be SU to change these files. And as I said, I don't see how to do this in BatChmod

DANA SUTTON  This is of course one isolated incident, but the other day I needed to change permissions on a folder and its contents. BatChmod failed to do the job, but I did it with TinkerTool Sysem.

DARYLF2  Version 1.36 won't launch on my Dual 2.5 GHz PowerMac G5 running 10.4.4. Deleting the preferences file didn't help. I reverted to 1.35 and it still works fine.

TJRECK  This is one of the main applications in my toolbox. I know a lot of unix geeks will say this isn't needed, but if you are not comfortable in the terminal, this is the answer!

ZIRE71MAN  Works better then the built in change preferences from get info. It changes all permission of internal items of folders. The built in get info change permissions only changes the folder info not the documents inside the folder. Great app!!!

ANDRETAN  Great app. Saved my butt just a while ago, since I know nuts about those *nix commands.

One star less for the unfixed unexpectedly quit error when quitting the app.

Other than that, great app! :)

VIXXIE  A very useful little application, lightweight and (as far as permissions go) does exactly what it says on the tin. Great for solving those niggling little permissions problems. I've yet to try the force empty trash.

JEDIK  Used to be a very handy utility. The "Force Empty Trash" now does not worl properly, since it *removes* the disks' /.Trashes folders instead of just cleaning them up. It requires a restar to fix this. And as commented by others, the program quits itself sometimes when the window's close button is pressed. I hope the developer can fix this soon. =)

VITALY CITOVSKY  when i use force empty trash function of batchmod, next time anything is placed in trash, it is immediately deleted by itself (after a warning dialog) - similar to what you get when you delete from remote servers..

and of course it crashes when window is closed when in background

GABRIEL RADIC  There seems to be a problem since forever: if the application is in the background and you close it using the red (X) button, it will crash.

Annoying.

JEFF RUBINSTEIN  I tried it out. It works like a train, and I don't mean a British train either.

However, in the wrong hands, i.e. almost everybody, a lot of damage could be done to the system software.
