AIKOUSHA  I can't take any application seriously that is EXPIREWARE!

The program dies and does nothing but says it's expired after a certain date (without contacting home to determine if there is really a new version). This means that if the program actually works and is useful, one day, if the programmer passes or can no longer work on it, it will just no longer be there.

I experienced this with lots of software from 1995 to about 2002. Companies thought they were all smart trying to protect their media, but when the websites and companies died, the software did too.

ANONYMOUS  Has always worked for me. Can't download from some servers, true, but it'll tell you what's available there. Developer keeps program up to date; always a healthy sign. I even use it for ftp or streams that are large. As for p2p, it depends on the other p - the more the merrier as this will load simultaneously from various sources.

Definitely needs a Search Window filter a la iTunes. Never seen it upload.

ANONYMOUS  This has the potential to be a great app - BUT!!! There are 2 major problems from what I can see. Unfortunately, these are so severe that I think it makes it unusable.

1. When you turn off the edonkey daemon in the preferences, it doesn't really turn off. (check 'ps -ax' for yourself.). It just continues on it's merry way using your net bandwith as it wishes. Once you start it - it ain't goin' away. Maybe with a reboot or a 'kill -9' but I didn't check those.

2. The temp files this thing creates will eventually fill your disk - as it did mine. (see for yourself - ~/Library/Application Support/iSwipe/temp) For whatever reason, I had over 4Gb of temp files in there.... That's ridiculuous...

Hopefully these are just regular bugs that will eventually get fixed - until then - no iSwipe - and no donation from here.....

However the last two builds have worked progressively better and I now find that I use iSwipe as my primary p2p file swapper (or is that swipper). It just keeps getting better and I hope that 1.5b9 continues that trend. My only complaint is the occasional download freeze up that occurs. Fix that and this becomes a fantastic program.

RUBART  Really good. Reliable downloading and easy searching. iLove it! So far I've downloaded about 200MB of MP3's with it.

Great interface, too. Could do with Morpheus support and full AudioGalaxy suport though.

MARKER  Basically a Nap-server client with limited support for other types of file sharing. Pretty good for a beta. Can only pretend to share files, which limits access to Hotline, Gnutella, etc. Some kinks still need to be worked out, but looks promising.
