RYAN PRICE  Here's a tip for those trying to download Mac OS 9.2.1 update. The problem we're having is that we keep getting a US-export compliance something screen. If you cut out the 'validate/pagename' from the URL and replace it with'export' you get the US Export Compliance agreement. Comply with 9.2.1 and then you can download the software. Looks like Apple simply forgot to make the compliance acceptance screen accessible.

MU ADMIN  The download URL here on the MacUpdate page for the Mac OS 9.2.1 update has been fixed, it now takes you to the export validation page.

ANONYMOUS  After many tries, I could not get past a "foreign language" document that I was sent to everytime I tried to download. I tried on two other macs - same thing

What's up? Can I get this update anywhere else. I have purchased 10 and wish to upgrade my G4 however; I must get my 9.1 udated.

Help

OLIVER  When I upgraded from 9.1 to 9.2.1 I began having a very strange problem. Whenever I was using my iMac 400DV to do anything at all the computer would dial up my service provider and go on line for no apparent reason. This was not something scheduled like Norton Anti virus or Software updater, it woud just happen randomly as often as every 20 to 30 minutes. I just updated to 9.2.2, hope that fixes the problem. Anyone else have this problem and if so how did you fix it?

L66  Works very good!!! had to delete all my cookies before i could dl it from the apple page though... and i had to dl the pre-g3 hacks to install it on my 5400/160... I don't understand why they made it g3-only, it works SO MUCH FASTER than 9.1 on my 5400... works great on the g3's too... i still prefer system 8.6 and 7.5.3 though... if you can't download it (just like me the first time), mail me, and i'll put it online somewhere and give you the ip.

LORRAINE  Will I still be able to use my software for this version. I just went from 8.1 to 9.1 and the slowness is bugging me. What can I delete to make the system run faster?

The system led me always to the starting-page, instead of beginning the download.

ANONYMOUS  I would love to review updater 9.2.1. but I can't seem to reach an agreement - I've tried for an hour now to get past the agreement page, but only get the message back: "no agreement availiable." Finding tech help pages that address or explain this seem to be impossible too. Is this an indication of how 9.2.1 will work for me?

ANONYMOUS  There's a serious number of conflicts with this 'upgrade'. USB adapter drivers, and utilities to protect disks - TechTool and Disk Warrior.

Some report better speed and stability. I suggest great care in going for this package.

FRED  What does this update?

Right now I'm using the Swedish 9.1 version that came with my Powerbook G4.

I have never heard about a 9.2 version exept for some rumours. Is this a special update for special users of special software, or is it ment to be an update for every user of Mac OS 9.X? Is it only for Mac OS X Classic or for the OS 9.1 that came preinstalled on my system. Want to know everything about it...

Best regards,

Fred

DAN ROBINSON  I forgot to mention this, but Paul Simpson just needs to download the International English version and this will allow you to install the UK version. The user is prompted which English country to install OS 9.2.1 for when starting the installer (e.g. UK, Australia, other English-speaking).

Just to let you know!! (p.s. I know because I've just installed International English 9.2.1 on my UK OS 9.1 which came with my G4/466 this March.

DAN ROBINSON  You can download this update from Apple itself in 6 separate bin files of 13.8Mb each (one's actually 13.9Mb).

This is much better for 56K downloads as each file takes approximately 45/50 min to download on my 56K line. It then installs just the same, but keep the six files together in the same directory you're installing from (obvious really).

SCHMOOGIE  YES!! Faster! Smooth as silk installation... Does "break" the DiskWarrior extension version 2.05, that is the only downside and I couldn't care less, the DiskWarrior extension does NOT affect the functionality of the DiskWarrior application.
