KENARONI As an alternative to iTunes, I still miss Audion. I wish someone would pick it up and run with it. I don't care about iPod compatibility or any other extras. It was simply a great & fun audio file and stream player. The choices of skins were so excellent. Last time I tried, it wouldn't work in OSX 10.4.

KENARONI Hey cool, Audion works in 10.5 Leopard! It plays mp3 files and streams just fine. Now if it would only play AAC files too.

EBERT yep, 10.5 compatible, but the audio quality doesnt seem good. An alternate, simpler iTunes would be awesome. Cog is coming closer, after Songbird failed to do so.

AUDIONPAIDSUPPORTER iPod no longer works with Audion after updating to itunes 4.9 I wish the developer will make an update I WILL PAID AGAIN . In many ways audion was far better than itunes.

RLO Audion has made my life pleasant again. I've had problems with iTunes 4.7.1 update and streaming internet radio stations constantly rebuffering. With Audion I was able to listen to music with no problems and have fun doing it to (changing the face) and all the themes available on their website. I wonder why it is unsupportive now. It's great it's freeware I would be willing to pay for it.

ANONYMOUS That's sad it is stopped. I continue to use it, it rocks. Some skins are awesome. It is the best player for Mac OS 8-9 and a great player for OS X.

DJ Great app,much nicer/better then iTunes IMHO, although I agree that the WMA playback could do with some emprovement. Sadly, I think the developers face the fact that iTunes is free (Apple is pretty much shoving it down our throats.) and thus it must be hard for them to find a way to make money out of this app. That is my opinion why it is taking so long for this app to be updated....

ANONYMOUS My biggest gripe is it stutters when playing WMA files. It does it in both panther and jaguar. Interface is a bit cumbersome but I'm not crazy about the iTunes interface either. iTunes is still much better though. I mostly want to use audion to convert files from ogg vorbis or wma to mp3. Somebody gave my parents a 120 GB external firewire drive with 20 GB of music on it as a xmas present. But they were stupid and they ripped all the music as wma files and then gave them to a couple of Mac users. I don't see a way to use playlists in the Mac version of Windows Media Player n(v.9) like the Windows version will do and iTunes won't play wma files. Too bad Audion doesn't work as advertised. I won't buy it until they fix the wma playback. It's a good effort but not good enough. When are they going to update this program? Sometime this decade?

ANDREW WARD I have been using Audion 3.0.2 for about a week using Panther. I have not experienced crashes when working with large playlists, YET. My main use for Audion 3.0.2 is to stream music using my shoutcast server. That feature works wonderful. However, the one draw back I have is that Audion 3.0.2 does not properly read iTunes 4.1 ID3 tags. Half the information is missing like ratings, equalizer presets, album art and play count. If I enter the information in again through Audion 3.0.2, the information disappears in iTunes. For future releases of Audion 3.0.2, it needs to work better with ID3 tags and integrate with iTunes playlists. If anyone knows a work around for the ID3 tag problem, please let me know. Thanks.

BOUNCE streaming audio to a shoutcast server works fine as long as you play mp3's within audion. as soon as the extrernal sound-input is used to stream live audio it crashes. under OSX aswell as OS9.

BACON Fairly nice all around mp3 program with tons of potential. Unfortunately many of the special features are so limited (mp3 editing, tag editing to name two which could easily be much more powerful). Soundjam offered encoding settings which included vbr with an upper limit setting, I sorely miss this setting. Great player. I have had a couple of crashes when working with large playlists. Also the documentation is sadly lacking in explanations about bit rate, sample rate and other settings that a beginner would want to know.

ANONYMOUS Only two things not to love: 1) doesn't play mp4/AAC files (I was going to switch from iTunes to Audion as my primary player, but too much of my music has been ripped in AAC format that it's not worth it) 2) crashes. usually it's only when you're messing with large playlists, but every once in a while it just quits on its own for no reason... happens in the middle of songs, happens when editing playlists/id3 tags, happens without any rhyme or reason

DAVID REUTELER best & most stable streaming of mp3 and ogg-vorbis files of any mac mp3 player (andhas been for a while), extremely feature rich, probably the prettiest of any mp3 player on any platform and panic is pretty responsive to email. highly recommended.

SHION MOKUREN There is so many features to love this audio player but for some Mac owners it may be a bit too pricey. If WinAmp is free for PC owners, why is this player so expensive? Outside of the price, I really using it, especially to mess around with the speed and mixing abilities. If there is one negative for me, it's the slider to skip to certain parts of the song. It's not that easy to use.
