VICJOE Newer version exists!! (5.1.6) I don't know about people with Iomega drives, but with a 3rd party LG drive, I have been a completely satisfied user of this sofware for years. When I updated to OS X 10.4.5, I encountered a crash with 5.0.47. I e-mailed tech support, and was immediately sent an entirely new version, 5.1.6, which is solid as a rock. These people make great software, but are not as adept at keeping their users informed. I couldn't find the 5.1.6 update on their site. If you have a paid copy, it is worth e-mailing them for an update (very quick response), it does so much more than Apple's plain jane burning that I couldn't function without it. Matter of fact, I'd say just buy the current version from the Web and if it doesn't work, ask for the update. Copy one disc to another with no image or scratch file, video CD, bootable CD, incremental sessions, convert AAC to AIFF, burnproof protection, etc., all that good stuff, it is all there, a combination of simplicity and elegance. I generally appreciate Apple's minimalist approach, but when you want to really get down to business with CD/DVD burning, you can't go wrong with Discribe. Disclaimer: I have no business or other association with Charismac Engineering, I just think they write a**kicking software. Don't whine-just buy it! (Version 5.0.47)

ANONYMOUS Discribe came free when I purchased an Iomega CD-RW, but it's version 5.55, not 5.47. When I had trouble installing 5.55, I contacted tech support and they sent me 5.47. WEIRD. Eventually I was able to install 5.55. Doesn't help, because my computer says that it does not support the iomega drive. I run CDs on it, but cannot burn any and it spits them out with the error message "disc drive not supported. (Note: running OS 10.3.5). Not happy. (Version 5.0.47)

ANONYMOUS OOPS - I should have added to this comment that tech support got back to me right away. I'm still working with them, and so far, they are probably the best tech support I've ever dealt with. (Version 5.0.47)

GONDOLINDRIM I had to use Discribe because the damned Iomega CD-RW just won't be recognized by either MacOS X or 9x. I won't dwell on that, but I'd just like to comment that Discribe won't burn songs from the iTunes store - it copies empty files to the disc. They say that the songs have to be authorized, which they are, and still, empty files. Otherwise, works fine with both systems. But what's the point if it won't burn a CD from the store (in AAC format)? (Version 5.0.47)

PHILIP Bought it, liked it, worked fine (GUI a little weird - you have to pres "audio" 2x), then I tried the discblaze demo - easy, fast, better GUI and half the price. compare before you buy, I wish I had! (Version 5.0.47)

BERGSLIEN The demo worked fine, then I made the mistake of buying it. It won't write ISO discs anymore - it just hangs, the hybrid format causes the program to crash and their technical support has been extremely unhelpful. This program is not worth it. (Version 5.0.36)

MACGUY I like Discribe 4.5... so far, after burn 4 of 5 using the demo, it has worked flawlessly. I'll be making the purchase after burn 5. (Version 4.5)

AMIEE BLACK I am not the most computer literate person out there, and I found Discribe so easy to use! I just downloaded Discribe, and I am very pleased that I can actually use the software well. I would recommend this product to anyone who likes to burn CDs. (Version )

KJ Is it too bold to say that this software is the best thing since sliced bread? Well, OK, maybe it is, but bread does make me think of Toast, which this product is definitely better than. The new interface is easy to use, and when I contacted Charismac with a problem I actually heard back from them the same day. I then decided to do something incredibly strange, I called the number on their web page to thank the support rep who emailed me and a real, live person answered the phone! When I got back in my chair I vowed to spread the word that Discribe is the only product to use when writing CDs. (Version )
