AMNESIAC7  I've been using PasswordWallet for the past 6-7 years. It is light. It is elegant. It is clean... It is perfect. I've tried other password manager apps that I've rec'd in software giveaways and bundles, but nothing beats PasswordWallet, and I always come back to it.

HAROLD ROETH,  I noticed there is only one recent review of this excellent program so wanted to add my highly favorable comments for this useful and easy-to-use program. I especially like the ability to just click on an icon and have the program open the desired log-in web page and also give you a button to click on which then automatically fills in the user ID and password. I highly recommend this program.

PETER SICHEL  This is my favorite password manager and I've tried several. The focus is on storing and organizing your passwords (or other sensitive data), and a clever yet general way to have the program type them for you when needed.

The work flow with Password wallet is to find the wallet item you want, and then press a button to copy or view the password, or take you to the corresponding website and type your username and password for you. Other password managers focus more on web browser integration, recognizing which password goes with the page you're currently browsing, but they trade-off some generality and simplicity as a result. PasswordWallet is simple, reliable, and gets the job done. The free iPhone version makes it convenient to keep your passwords or sensitive account numbers with you.

I've recommended this to several clients and they always love it.

"Web Confidential for Palm OS is not available anymore and support has stopped." -- their Support reply after it corrupted and died on my Palm PDA and can't be fixed, apparently. Hosed.

BOGEN  Fast (noticeable faster startup than info.xhead, even on a 2.4 Mhz Core Duo 2 MacBook with 4 GB RAM), unobtrusive, gets the job done, doesn't force you to use categories (Big plus!!), doesn't rely on wonky, not officially supported (by Apple) Input Managers.

for now, i´ve read that you can access your passwords on an iPhone if you save them as bookmarks (or something like that), and access them on Safari on the phone.

SAMPLER  Amazingly auto-login capability

Two features set Password Wallet 4.1 above a half-dozen other apps that I tried, including info.xhead and steel:

1. the auto-login capabilities. I would have bought Password Wallet for the auto-login feature alone.

2. sync to the Palm

Others apps auto-type but work only in the simplest two-field setups, where the site places the focus in the login-id field and tabs automatically into the password field. Many sites don't do this. Some require two passwords or have the password and login-id on different pages.

PW 4.0.1 easily handles these complicated web sites because you can insert metacharacters for TAB, PAUSE-RESUME and RETURN keys into the login sequence. You can then do everything with button pushes or keyboard shortcuts.

You may need to experiment. For example, my wife and have two Verizon accounts and they need different sequences:

1st: TAB login-id

PAUSE/RESUME password (Then push a GO Button)

2nd: TAB login-id

PAUSE/RESUME TAB password RETURN

For the Bank of America, the login-id and password are entered on separate pages and require:

login-id RETURN

PAUSE/RESUME password RETURN

On the other hand, some sites are easy, for example:

login-id

password RETURN

But you don't need to set up these meta-character sequences. There are buttons and shortcuts just to copy the login-id and password into the clipboard.

There are other virtues, especially the easy ability to share data and to start new wallets with subsets of entries from existing ones.

The updates adds refinements which make the app even more of a pleasure. Two subtle but welcome ones: now one can set keyboard focus to the 'find' box, so that one less tab is required. Also, there is an option to always open an entry in a new window rather then over the main window.

I highly recommend this one.

LARCENOUS  This product is one which I use probably more than any other on either my Palm (an increasingly elderly Samsung SPH-i500) OR my desktop Mac. I originally purchased it some time ago because it was the only such password app at the time that I could find which would sync between PDA and Mac (have no idea if there are similar products for the Windoze folks, there probably are).

With this latest release (4.0), the developer has totally re-written it in Cocoa, and the difference is significant. Quick, flexible drop-down menus, increased options for choosing labels for data fields, many other upgrades. But here's the kicker (for me), which puts PasswordWallet and its developer, Selznick Software, in another category altogether:

When I upgraded, I upgraded the Palm App, as well, and was VERY excited about the new ability to click "open URL and copy username and password." This meant no more having to enter PW's password, cut and paste the password for whatever website I wanted to access, open up the browser manually, and then paste it into the appropriate field. PW4 does it all automatically.

Except it didn't. Not on my PDA. Every time I tried, I got an error message that said browser couldn't be found (Blazer discontinued, using Novarra's nweb now). So I emailed the developer and mentioned my problem. We went back and forth over no less than six emails, with the end result being that he researched it, found the creator code for my Novarra browser, and sent me an updated (and unreleased, lucky me!) version specially modified for me to include my browser. PW4 now works perfectly, and I'm quite a happy camper.

Yeah, I know, this is how customer service and tech support is SUPPOSED to work....but it almost never does. So rarely, in fact, that it's a (quite welcome) shock to get THIS kind of personal care and service out of the developer of a product. As I told the developer in my last email, he's got a customer for life!

IDJSTER  Password Wallet has evolved over the years into a true Mac app while retaining all of it's ease of use and usefulness. I use it all the time with my Palm TX (and have with other Palm PDAs I've had over the years) and it has always worked flawlessly. With so many passwords to remember, and the need to have them at remote computers, Password Wallet fits my needs perfectly. Nothing else I have tried has come close. I've been a user since the first releases and I can truly say that I've never had a second thought about using it. I particularly like the fact that numbers are red. A small thing, but something no one else seems to consider. A truly nice application, both for the Mac and the Palm.

IGREG  Finally looks like an OS X program. Clean, easy to use interface. The red colored numerical digits is very good, it is not hard to mistake some letters as numbers, this feature prevents that from happening.

Even with all the automatic password features in web browsers etc. you would think this kind of thing is not useful, but you be surprised how often the password fields get screwed up on websites. If you haven't visited a site in a really long time you may find you have to re-enter the user and password, and this program makes it easy to find it. You might be able to find info in Keychain, but Password Wallet is easier to use. Making new passwords is also easier. Even if your happy with the way Keychain works, having this as backup is useful.

KONG  I have used version 2.x forever and a day with great satisfaction. A pity only that it has no real OS X look&feel: I'm dearly missing categories I can specify myself (e.g. like "Wallet" allows you), so I don't just have an endless list of entries. Adding colors to represent categories seems so much an OS 9-kind of a solution. The difference between versions 2.x and 3.x don't seem to be worth the upgrade-fee to me.

OVERLOOKED, BUT THE BEST ONE  I've tried them all and Password Wallet might not have the best looking interface (it doesn't), but when it comes to substance and real-life usability this program absolutely shines. Great features, rock solid, never crashed on me. Love it. You can also use it with its Palm complement application.
