ALFIEINDAHOUSE  Love it!

May lack in tools but it does simple pictures perfectly!

Well done and a shame that such a great app has stopped in devolopment!

OILCONSUMER  Just to remind you, the 0.2 update cannot update to 0.3 as the updater URL was corrupted. 0.3 will be able to update to 1.0 when its released so once you have downloaded this, you will ultimately not need to download it from MacUpdate again!

Please comment as this is the last BETA!

Thank You.

FERRUCCIO BUSONI  Patterns, custom patterns, FatBits, brush mirrors . . .

The separate windows are also kind of annoying. One reason is that it looks more cluttered; the other reason, which is probably easy to fix, is that if you click on a new tool, you can start using it immediately: you have to click on the main window one to activate it, then click again to start using the tool.

The bomb is a little unnecessary, too. In MacPaint you would double-click the eraser to clear, which made sense. As this may not be obvious, perhaps a clear button would be better--one that you click once and it clears, rather than clicking three times to use the bomb tool.

RAMPANCY  Ok, fair enough that the icon that you're using is no longer used by Stainless...did you get explicit permission from the artist to use it?

Also, you're still ripping off Apple's iPhoto icon for the "Create A Project" button at the intro screen.

Stop ripping off other people's icons. You have no excuse. There are plenty of good quality freeware/royalty free icons out there for programmers just starting out like you.

DOOBIEXX  Do you work for google? or a cop? If not, relax and don't get so worked up over things that really don't have anything to do with you.

No offense but your grilling the dev, and from the question scheme it seems you have no affiliation w/ google or anyone attached to the icon or you would know the answers your asking.

If google cares so much, they can take care of the problem. If not, let's leave "royalty" disputes out and simply discuss the software. Now that I think of it... do you have right's for that name? I could have swore I saw someone else on the net use the same nick, you two should really square off old west style and see who gets to keep what. j/k, serious though, I hope your response and my response to your response gets deleted. No need for it to be here.

OILCONSUMER  0.3 has been released!

Just to note that 0.3 will be the final BETA, so feed back is really needed in this release!

Please try to comment on this product as i have seen a lack of comments which meant that these BETA have lacked in any purpose!

A ADD-ON example has been put on, this example is the old Intro screen as i think some of you may dislike the new one!

Thank you.

OILCONSUMER  For 0.3 the updater URL has been changed so therefor the update which comes with 0.2 will not work to update to 0.3!

0.3 will be released soon!

Thank you.

Just to keep you guys updated! I'm going to release one more BETA [0.3]

This should be the final BETA - in this next release you should see

-Addons more devoloped

-Autosaver that works [late beta tests show that 0.2 doesnt work]

-slimmed down on size [found out updater is using 1mb+]

-more basic interface

-removal of prefences as it has no meaning or point now

-MORE :D

It will be released start of next week - I have exams and lots of work to do so this will delay its progress a tad!

E_COMMERCE  Leaving the interface and functionality aside, using the name "MacPaint" (surely trademarked by Apple) and ripping off the old Stainless icon - you're just asking for it.

OILCONSUMER  I'm aware of this but Apple have not emailed me concerning this - Also its MacPaint X :D not MacPaint and don't you think they have abandoned MacPaint, it hasn't been updates to OS X or anything and i don't expect they will as they have left it so late.

If Apple do threaten me then of course i will change it's name but so far i've had nothing.

Concerning the Stainless icon, if you read the About Application you will see i have states im using it also this Icon has been abandoned.

As you can see, I like to use abandoned software [and icons] and bring it back to life!

Thank you for your concern though and thanks for not complaining about the application itself!

OILCONSUMER  Thank you JohnBedell!

We will try to fit your commands and make the application... more basic!

So far 1.0 is going very swiftly but I'll still be waiting for the 1000th download for the release!

Just to note 1.0 won't be far different from 0.1 because of the lack of comments and ideas and 0.1 was a BETA for 1.0 to make sure its 100% working.

Version 1.0 [First proper release as this 0.1 was a BETA]

---

Once again, Thank you!

FERRUCCIO BUSONI  Yes, I would change the name. Aside from annoying Apple, this program does not much resemble MacPaint.

OILCONSUMER  How does it not resemble MacPaint?

remember the original MacPaint itself is old and this is a upgrade to OS X which lets say totally different then classic.

Dec 3 2008

FERRUCCIO BUSONI  Well, there's just nothing particularly MacPainty about it. MacPaint was really something in its day; if you're trying to "upgrade" it to the modern day, your program should be a lot more advanced. If, however, you're trying to bring MacPaint to OS X, the interface is not much the same, and it lacks MacPaint features like FatBits and Brush Mirrors.
