MASTERSHREDDER I bought this when it was EventBox.. I figured I would give the developer some cash because the idea of the program seemed pretty cool... then the bugs came.. They would update it, and fix a few things, but then there would be way more bugs. I've increasingly become annoyed with the product.. then I see they sold it and now it's called Socialite... great. Socialite is even worse than EventBox bugwise and now I really wish I hadn't wasted the money. I've stopped using it and now i'm looking around for a replacement. I'll be less careless with my app purchases though. (Version 1.0)

MJHARPER Hmm. Curious Realmac Software specifically warned about being beta and bleeding edge, and suggested that if you didn't want bugs you shouldn't upgrade yet. Try reading the release notes before whining. http://www.realmacsoftware.com/forums/index.php/forums/viewthread/25838/ (Version 1.0)

APPLEHC The application is a joke. First I got my "MacHeist" version. It crashed so often I could not use it. Now, after reading some of these (fake) reviews I gave it another shot Well, licence expired. Had to buy it and guess what: It is *constsntly* crashing on Google Reader. This must be the worst investment in shareware I ever made. Twice. Beware, if you want to use the RSS part of this product! It is not ready for prime time. A long time after they openend up their "beta".. (Version 1.0)

MATTHEWLOWERY It is my favourite app on my entire macbook. Its so good! All my networks on one app! Then I can read my Mashable and Wired RSSs too! The Twitter part is very well done. The Twitter HUD alone has more features than Twitterrific! Facebook is pretty basic, but I would appreciate a way to see comments and comment on the posts, photos etc. Flickr too is very well done. Digg is well done ( I dont let Digg change my Unread count otherwise it would be 200+ lol) OneRiot is one of my favourites, it updates itself and tells you when somebody uses that tag! I dont use the others, but I tried Reddit and that too is good. The Cosmic Machine have made a brilliant product. I want to see a V 2.0 before they begin work on an iPhone app. Give them time to get their desktop app to get a fanbase, get good features and come out of beta. Allinall, an f-in brilliant app! VRH This integrates all my newsfeed gathering and social networking into one very friendly interface. This is precisely the solution for which I've been searching! I've been running the pre-release version of EventBox which has been very stable for me and the developers are very responsive. This is a great deal. Things I'd like to see in the future: further flexibility in keyboard commands (already a pretty good job here), some adjustment in 'focus' behaviour, and a way to adjust tolerance for overloaded Twitter servers. ;-) Speaking of Twitter, the 'Smart Folder' feature for Twitter is a wonderful idea -- a big help! Again, in my opinion this app is solid and a great value. (Version 1.0)

MEMPHISBIRD Yes, having all the services integrated is extremely convenient, and the smart folders feature has become a necessity. I also own Tweetie, but I don't use it because I can't filter my tweets like I can in EventBox. The two things I would really like to see are: 1) add an option to the smart folders to show which items are unread. Right now, there is a default smart folder for unread items, but it includes everything. I would like to have an unread option for each service; 2) option to have items that have been read disappear from view, archived or something, so that they don't show up anymore. (Version 1.0)

THEBRIX2008 I use only part of the functionality (RSS, Google Reader, Twitter). That said ... EventBox is the only OS X feed reader I have found that synchronises with Google Reader - perfectly, as it turns out - and it is elegantly done. There are lots of subtle but meaningful graphic effects, hotkeys for everything, and many alert options - sound, Growl, a well-designed heads-up (white on black) display, highlights in the Dock, a Menu Bar item ... most of which can be set for all feeds or per-feed. My only reservation is that the application doesn't have its own browser; the Web pages linked to feeds open in the default Web browser. It would be nice to have some sort of embedded interface as a space-saver on a laptop screen. I will not be going back to Web interfaces; EventBox is faster, better-looking, easier to use and more tweakable, and $15 is not much for what it offers. (Version 1.0r580)

SHANE C SMITH This is the only application I have found so far that does everything I want from one app. I do wish they would add more features to each section of the application. For example, comment on statues message for Facebook, notifications for pictures in Facebook are not by album but by photo, etc. Also there are a number of bugs that I wish would be fixed, but I guess it is a beta version. Maybe they will be all fixed when the final comes out. Overall it is my client of choice (Version 1.0r572)

PCHARLES67 I really like that this application allows me to view Twitter, Facebook, RSS, and Google reader from the same location. It really streamlines the way I work by putting things in one place. The twitter client could support a few of the Tweetie features like the long tweets and conversation following, but apart from that I think it is great. Sometimes when loading it can take a while to bring in the data, but I guess I have a lot of feeds. (Version 1.0r563)

APPLEHC Hmm, that exactly what I am talking of: You might have noticed that were featured on MacHeist and its a free download. I expect many people to ask the question why buy it then? Heres the short answer: the MacHeist Edition of EventBox is not the same as regular EventBox. Here are the reasons: * The MacHeist edition includes no official support whatsoever. If youre having a problem or want to request a feature, youre probably out of luck. * Most importantly, the MacHeist edition includes no updates at all. This means youre forever stuck at build 566. Since were planning on adding many many new features in the future, youre essentially going to be running an ancient version. Im talking about syncing, multiple accounts, TwitPic, centralized notifications, more services. We will be adding TONS of new stuff. And this is only up until version 1.0. Were planning to have a very long 1.x series, so buying EventBox now will last you at least 1.5-2 years. * Weve got permission from Digg and we will be returning their plugin as soon as possible. You wont be able to use Digg from the MacHeist edition." As far as I know there were only two developers so far, that tried something similar, product were GraphicCoverter and SpeedDownload. It created a lot of problems. Both developer fonud a reasonable solution. But you cannot just write a blog entry and then offer an autoamtic (!) update feature that smply cancels your licence information and sets you back to a trial. I am a regular shareware user and I bought roughly 200 shareware products in the last 5 years. It´s not about paying money for software and reasonably upgrades. But I do not like to offer some special deal and then just trying to urge existing customers to a payment by simply locking them out. Then just call it a trial what it actually was.. JOOLS912 This program has very quickly become one of my favourite Mac apps. It's the best Twitter client I've tried (and I've tried them all), and including Flickr and Google Reader too is just icing on the cake. Considering this is still in beta, its very stable. I've had no problems at all. The UI is very nicely done. Intuitive, slick and fast. The developers are incredibly responsive. On the two occasions I've emailed them, they have replied within minutes! I got the free version via MacHeist, but purchased the full version within a few hours of use, just because I liked it so much, and thought the program and support was well worth it. This is now my default Twitter and RSS client. Highly Recommended! (Version 1.0r563)

APPLEHC Ofering a free version via MacHeist. And then just offering a minor update via the application itself. But just to cancel the registration and reverting to an expired trial. Well, well - that is just AMAZINGLY STUPID. We will see if the potential customers will like that. I consider this the rudest and silliest approach to shareware ever ... (Version 1.0r563)

JOOLS912 Actually, I think you'll find you are the one that is just AMAZINGLY STUPID! If you'd bothered to try to find out what happened (by emailing, visiting their blog), you would've discovered that a change Twitter made caused a critical bug in EventBox. http://milen.tumblr.com/post/92206471/eventbox-twitter-aftermath They fixed the problem within hours and issued new versions of EventBox for both regular customers and MacHeist freetards. All you needed to do was download the updated MacHeist build from the MacHeist homepage, and it would've continued working just fine. This page details the differences between the regular and MacHeist editions: http://milen.tumblr.com/post/89528243/eventbox-macheist (Version 1.0r563)

WALRUSCP This is still in the beta phase, but is imho the best social network client out there. If you utilize Facebook, Twitter, RSS, Google Reader, Reddit, and Instapapper this is a must-have. Scary thing is there is a whole lot more in terms of features and support yet to come, so get in on this bandwagon while it's still cheaper to do so. (Version 1.0r563)

GCOGHILL Promising app. Would like to see support for multiple Twitter/Flickr accounts (if that's even possible). I'd also like to see more of a distinction between the Events for the different services offered (color coding perhaps?). It's hard to distinguish between Facebook status updates and Twitter updates. Better keyboard shortcuts for Twitter are a must, not simple enough to do replies and direct messages (Cmd-R & Cmd-D perhaps?). Also, needs a one-handed keystroke for cycling through events (like Spacebar, and perhaps Shift-Spacebar to go in reverse). Overall though a cool app. My demo will probably expire before it's at a stage that it feels ready for actual use though. (Version 1.0r546)

THE GRAPHIC MAC This is a fantastic idea for an app. I could do without the RSS feeds - I prefer a dedicated reader or GoogleReader which offers way more features. Twitter support is excellent, save for the fact that you have to re-enter your password every time. Facebook support could be better. But this app has a bright future. (Version 1.0r546)
