SALGADO It's really nice to be able to have a specific dock linked to each space. I use 6 spaces with a specific dock for each of them. Can't understand why this isn't standard with Mac OS but Dock Spaces does it perfectly. Version 3.01 works great up till now with Snow Leopard. It's a lot quicker than 2.4 on Leopard. The upgrade was straightforward, no problems. Tx to the developer. (Version 3.01)

HAMISHMACDONALD After a lot of trying, I just can't get this to work (under Snow Leopard on a MacBook Air, using the latest version of DockSpaces, 3.01). I've linked my docks to different spaces, but each time I change one dock, all the others change -- even if I specifically load one dock, make changes to it, then load the next, change it, etc. As soon as I change Spaces, the dock messes up, with dock #2 becoming dock #1, and so on. So I correct all the docks, and as soon as I switch Spaces again... a mess. My Work dock is now my Play dock from two sets of changes ago, etc. This is a beautiful app, and the theory of how it works is great, but in practice I can't get it to behave as it says it will. It seems to be working for others, though :( (Version 3.01)

ANONYMOUS Oh I am really sorry about that... Because I was working with the my plist file from previous versions I never notice that... To restore your Dock using timemachine: Open time machine and Go to User/YourName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist and restore this file. Then open your terminal (Applications->Utilities->Terminal.app) and type That's it, I am really sorry for the trouble (Version 2.40)

DENNY DOUBLEPLUS MARKETING I just downloaded and fired up this little app. I am SO DISAPPOINTED that it lost my current dock setup! :((( I did not expect this to occur. Mr/Ms Developer, is there anyway to avoid this? When someone tries a new app, it really shouldn't alter a user's computer preferences. Note, I restarted my iMac figuring the old dock prefs would reset - no such luck. (Version 2.40)

MANU_7312 The same happened to me, and I am soooooooooooo pissed !!!! No warning, no nothing!!! Now, I am left with the "default" dock, and I have to try and figure out what I had before... Is there any chance that DockSpaces stored the parameters of the original Dock somwhere? Or does anybody know if it is possible to restore dock items from backup (TimeMachine)? Any help with this would be GREAT!!! (Version 2.40)

ATELIS sorry, but the site constantly removes the characters i want to use :) and there isn't a preview... (perhaps it would be useful?) but the path is correct: restore the file and log out - after log in you have your old dock again... :) (Version 2.40)

DANA SUTTON This is a neat idea. But I have another one, if the developer reads these comments. If you are using multiple monitors, it's kind of a bummer that the dock and menubar only appear on a single "blessed" one (so if you are working on Monitor B you keep having to make trips back to Monitor A to access these). If you could develop an app. that would put mirrors of the dock (and hopefully the menubar as well) on all running monitors, this would be a real boon. (Version 2.20b)

CASTLE After running Dock Spaces my Spaces had been cut down to 4. I tried to go into System Preferences to change them back, but my Spaces is badly messed up. First, no windows would appear at all. I restarted, assuming it would get rid of the problem, but instead every time I initiate Spaces all the windows come up, over the top of the blue Spaces. Can't get to System Preferences to try to change my settings back. Not fun. (Version 2.10)

KRAL2 I ran on the same bug. It happen when you have applications assigned to spaces higher than 4, and DockSpaces throw away theses spaces (without any warning). You can correct the mess editing plist files. Use Pref Setter for that task, it's very handy. You can view my post about that with screenshots showing where and what to edit at http://materialboys.fr/2008/11/pref-setter-au-secours-de-dockspaces/ It's in French but screenshots explain it well enought. I solved my problem this way. Hope it will help someone around there. (Version 2.10)

RAYBURNMACUPDATE Dock Spaces 2.00 is a must have App for any Mac user! Whether you're a: Programmer, Artist, Gamer, Business or Casual User... Dock Spaces 2.00 will help you utilize your time and your Mac to it's fullest potential. I've been using it for many months now and it's completely revolutionized the way I work on my computer. Dock Spaces's designer Patrick Chamelo has really created an outstanding piece of software, with a myriad of great features. I highly recommend that everyone who downloads this app try the "Spaces Integration" feature. If you've ever wanted a different dock for each space, than Dock Spaces 2.00 is the perfect answer to your wish. It certainly was for me. Having 4 unique, yet interactive work spaces, each with their own dock full of apps is like having 4 different computers all networked together in perfect harmony. Dock Spaces has radically improved my productivity, and completely reinvent my user interface experience. (Version 2.00)

ANONYMOUS123 I'm using 1.30, yet having difficulties with a few things, and wanting a few more. One, I can't seem to get Spaces Integration to work. I have two spaces and two docks. One each for work and for play. I'd definitely love the dock to auto-switch when I switch spaces, but even with the settings setup in Dock Spaces and Spaces Integration turned on, switching spaces results in no change from the dock. Am I doing something wrong? Two, as others have requested, "It would also be nice if you could hide apps that are running in other spaces from the current dock, if the dock doesn't include those apps." That is, if I have Photoshop listed on and open in my work dock in my work space, and I switch to my play space (and hopefully the play dock switches with it), I don't want to see Photoshop. Third, building on the previous feature (and I know this is asking a lot): I'd love to be able to Space/Dock-specific preference settings. For example, I need to use Firefox for work from time to time, but when I'm using Firefox in my Work Space (opened from my Work Dock), I'd like to see different bookmarks, different links, maybe a different homepage, and have different settings for privacy and allowed/blocked sites. Another example would be my iTunes library displaying an alternate, workplace-friendly list of music. By the same logic, I'd like to have the items on my desktop be Space-specific as well. This may be more of a Spaces comment than a Dock Spaces comment... Essentially, rather than a work "space," I'd like to have a work "state." (Version 1.30)

CEILING CAT I'm liking the addition of Dock-per-Space, but the implementation isn't all it could be right now. I already used spaces, and couldn't work out how to tie the docks to the spaces. When I used the Spaces menu to make the changes I thought would be necessary, it removed my dock entirely and gave me some kind of all-encompasing dock that included apps I don't even own. Then when I changed the settings back to regain my original dock, I was still presented with this default style dock, and Spaces was entirely disabled - which also cost me all the app-to-Space customisation I'd previously performed! The only saving grace here was that on closing the app, I was returned to my original personalised Dock, and unlike other reviewers I had no difficulties at all in deleting the application from my system. So, this is still a great idea, but it's still very much in the development stages... (Version 1.30)

PATRICK CHAMELO Since your Dock didn't popup again is not Dock Spaces fault but your launchd that didn't bring it back to life... Dock Spaces - is killing the Dock launchd daemon - brings it back If you tried to change dock without the dock to be there, it was probably what cause the problem... Sorry for the trouble and thanks for your feedback (Version 1.20)

MM2270 Nice update with the addition of shortcuts, but I have a few quibbles with this. For one, I would like in a future update a way to pick my own shortcuts. There doesn't seem to be a way to pick our own. I previously had Control 1, 2, 3, etc set to switch Spaces. I had to choose different shortcuts in the Spaces prefpane in order to use Dock Spaces' shortcuts. Two, the preferences window always shows up behind other windows and applications. At first I thought it wasn't working until I moved windows out of the way and saw it sitting there. It should pop to the front when selected from the menu. Three, for some reason, I had lost my dock names after installing this update. The dock configs (plists) remained there, but the names were gone and I had to reset the prefs to use 4 docks, and name them again to get them back. So the update process needs to be examined. Unless it was just me that this happened to. Anyway, I'd like to see this continue to improve. It's very useful now even with these bugs/issues. But I can see improvements making this much better. CEILING CAT As previously stated, keyboard shortcuts to swap docks would be a nice idea; what would be even nicer would be the ability to link docks to spaces. It would also be nice if you could hide apps that are running in other spaces from the current dock, if the dock doesn't include those apps. (Version 1.10)

MM2270 Sweet little piece of software! Works just as described. This type of functionality really should have been included with Leopard's Spaces, if even as an option to enable/disable for those who may not want this. I now have much more manageable Docks. One for general iApps, etc, one for my graphics applications and one for server/system management that I do. Before, I had a cluttered Dock with a jillion items, and it didn't even include everything I used on a daily basis. The only thing I'd like to see added is keyboard shortcuts for switching between the Docks. I don't see any way to do this. Otherwise, a very solid start. (Version 1.10)
