PHILSTIR  Luv milife! Great program. Very well priced for this program. To register is just fifteen dollars! Well worth what you get! It is even encrypted. I am now diary addicted! Good company and great software!

HGURU_79  The best journal software I've ever used for Mac OS X. Provides all of the features I need (styled text, imported graphics, embedded audio, video), plus plenty of extras like password protection, Word Doc export, etc. Suits my needs perfectly without being so huge and bulky that its confusing to use.

VB-23  I must say that I find the non-standard interface to be quite distracting, rather than 'fun'. While metaphors can be quite effective, there should still be some abstraction. The provided screenshot recalls a windows app, not a Mac one.

With regard to the journal window, the general consensus seems to be that drawers were a bad interface decision. Your implementation seems to take up too much space for items ('Add New Page', 'Insert Picture . . .') that should be implemented as standard toolbar items.

I am not a dogmatist-Interface conventions should be broken when they contribute to the experience. Delicious Library is a good example; it utilized a new metaphor, but did so in a manner that was somewhat familiar and felt as if it belonged on a mac. The rest of the 'Delicious Generation' went for non-standard eye candy purely for branding, rather than usability.

With the possible exception of your display of bookmarks, your app seems to fall into the later category, only without the professional (and I recognize, expensive) graphic design.

MACGUY_81  It should be noted that MiLife was selected as an Apple.com Staff Pick. To lambaste its interface as non-standard seems a little strange. All of its controls are standard OS X controls which adhere to the HIG. Furthermore, if the drawer itself distracts you, try clicking the disclosure triangle to reduce it, and use the command keys or menu items instead, all of which provide convenient access to MiLife's features.

XENOPHILE  Agreed. I don't find the photorealistic effect of a ring note pad "fun," either. It's distracting and a waste of space, and serves no purpose. Presumably the developer was being "creative," but making a diary app look like a literal diary is pretty dull.

MACGUY_81  MiLife is intended to provide a more simple and streamlined approach to creative writing than some of the commercial journaling programs.

The response to MiLife has been so surprising, however, that I'm already working on a new update (v1.1 at the time of this post) and am actively listening to users as far as what features they want to see in future releases.

Please give MiLife a try, and if it doesn't meet your needs, send me an E-mail and let me know how I can make it better!

Thanks for trying MiLife and I hope you will have fun using it.

ZENTASK  Nice little diary. But as mentioned in the blog, some features have to come early to seperate from other apps like this. Should be watched for new spots!
