RORO01  What we really need is an application which detect preference files which are not associated with any application, i.e files of applications where we have deleted the applications but forgot to delete their preference files.

LEE123  I totally agree. I have run across your comment twice now while searching for just such an app. I dont think there is one to be had. I dont know why xslimmer or someone does not add this function. I probably have 50 or more abandon prefs from all the apps I try.

One thing I use now is Hazel which gets most of the prefs when I delete an app.

RORO01  The freeware AppCleaner is also very useful for deleting most of the "belongings" of an application you would like to trash along with the application itself.

IPHONEANDMACDEVELOPER  If I search for "preference file delete" I can find a few applications that do as you request. But if none of them work, let me know and I'll develop such an application. I did many years ago, called it Yank, and it was very popular. Maybe I could update it for OS X if there was interest. Send email to me at modesittsoftware(at)me.com
