FOU STEP  I like the ability to play Windows based gamed through CrossOver Games. Guild Wars works great! There are a lot of options to configure (and to make a game work). However there is a downside, if you want updates at first it isn't a problem but you have a problem after a year. No matter what version you have (8.0.0) you won't be able to get 8.1.0 because you have to pay the 32 euro (more in dollar) to get updates for 12 months again. That way it's becoming pretty expensive to play a couple of games (Boot Camp is way cheaper and way more stable).

They should allow free updates until a major update comes. Overall the program is fair and pretty stable for the supported games.

DIEDEL  Its an awesome program wich makes (in every newer version) more and more pcgames work on Linux and Mac. If the game you like is not on the compatibility page, it doenst mean it doenst run. Just test it, and if it doenst work somehow, submit the game in the database and put a thread in the forum wich problem you encouter and maybe advocates (like me) or staff members can help to get the game work after all.

Just visit the site and have a look.

WESLEY PANDOFF  I downloaded the free version of crossover. Do I need to purchase the full version to be able to play my game?

DYLAN MCNAMEE  But if you got it during the celebration "Crossover is free for a day" promotional, then no, you've got the full version (but probably only a year of updates for free).

OPETER  Works great! Just installed the CrossOver Games Mac Pro edition, that you can download today for free from their website.

I tryed installing Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen II game and WOW! It works great. 1600x1200, 32-bit, anistropic config on works flawlessly on my Mac mini 1,83 GHz on GMA 950! :)

Thank you CodeWeavers for this nice product!

ST00P!D M0NK3Y  Odd. That game works for me. If all else fails, you can just use your game(s) in Boot Camp.

ST00P!D M0NK3Y  Parallels is a bit finicky with games, but whatever works. Boot Camp will always have the best performance with games, but sometimes I just don't want to boot into Windows to play games.

At least you found an alternative. =)

SAGGIS  I'd basically wanted the orange box since it came out. After humming and haaing about this for months I decided to give it a whirl thinking nah it won't work like it says, there will be a catch. We'll I played the HL2 demo on steam and was fully blown away, everything looked beautifully rendered, I then purchased the orange box off steam and everything worked perfectly and doesn't mean I have to reboot into vista. Sure there is the odd glitch on occasion but it really is amazing how well this works, it's not a gimmick, it's for real.

A great way to get fantastic games that us mac users miss out on.

REPEATER75  I have been using CrossOver Mac 6.2.1 on my C2D Blackbook and had mixed results playing Steam games. After installing Crossover Games and creating a symlink to my old CrossOver Mac bottle, I fired up Steam and was really pleased. All of the graphical glitches I experienced in Team Fortress 2 are gone and the frame rate and load times are both noticably improved. I wish this had been out back when I bought CrossOver Mac because I got it for gaming back then! Thankfully this is FREE if you are already a CrossOver Mac owner. Thanks, Codeweavers!

SLRMAN  Despite the Crossover page that said that Sturmovik IL2 was reported to work, it did not even start. As this is about the only Windows program I have any interest in running, it looks like I'll give Crossover a miss. As I have observed in the past, Crossover is not ready for Prime Time.
