MUTZIE  It runs on PPC.

If you use musicdaemoncontroller.app to launch it it will quit automatically.

Solution:

right click on musicdaemoncontroller.app

show package contents, browse to the resources folder right click musicdaemon and choose to start it with terminal.

Probably something wrong with the jumper executable on PPC.

CHAS_M  How is this different or better than iTunes' own ability to share its library over the network?

FENRISULF  iTunes doesn't (not anymore) let you share your library over the internet. Just a LAN, IIRC.

CHAS_M  Ah. Somehow I missed that bit about the internet. My bad.

Okay, so how is this different or better than Nicecast? :)

ANONYMOUS  Nicecast is to stream audio. MusicPort is to open your library to an other iTunes over Internet.

It's like "ShareTool" (I discover the tools) but only for iTunes, less beautifull but free :p

APPLE_JULIEN  - Simplify Media use a centralized server (to manage "linked" users). MusicPort work directly from the server to the client.

- Simplify Media need to be registered on this server.

- Simply Media can't share a iTunes database in other place of the installation (my server don't use iTunes : MusicPort work on a backup of my iTunes database).

- Simplify Media is not Open Source

- Simplify Media work on PC, MusicPort not.

- When I tested Simplify Media for the first time (there is three of four month), a part of my database could not be shared (too much file, I think).

But, you can use Simplify Media if you like better Simplify Media ;)
