SMOP I love that utility! Definitely one of the best sharewares I've found these past months... The company I work for doesn't allow outbound connections other than TCP 22/80/443. Thanks to ShareTool, I can now access to all my machines at home, including printers, Time Capsule, etc. The browsing proxy is great as well to test firewall rules and web sites seen as coming from the outside. And last but not least, ShareTool allowed me to get access to my POP/IMAP/SMTP servers by bypassing the company network policy. Of course, it would probably be possible to do the same thing by building SSH tunnels, playing with the VPN and and hacking around, but ShareTool makes it all up and running in ONE minute - 100% hassle free. "Discounted pricing on ALL our product line; available on our Kagi store." is misleading and needs to be clarified. There are bundles in the Yazsoft store, but if you already own their products and want to add just one more, no discount for you. You either buy more of the item you already have, or you pay full price for the new product you want to buy. For me at least, it's less expensive to pay full price for ShareTool. Since I expected discounted pricing on "ALL our product line," I decided to skip the purchase. I wrote Yazsoft about this, to be sure I hadn't missed something. Nope. That's the way it is. 22DUKE don't see the point this as it never worked for me. I tried several times over the last two years but I can never connect to my office machine which is behind Netgear router as well as having a different Netgear router at home. would love to get this working though as back to my Mac is awfully slow (Version 1.2.9)

YAZSOFT SUPPORT Please email me directly for assistance in getting ShareTool up and running at your end. It could be that you're overlooking something really silly. Regardless, I'm happy to assist. ShareTool works really great and is very addictive :-) (Version 1.2.9)

VFJCZYN5LQXK Incredibly good, very easy to use, and fast! Bought as a part of Yazsoft's Promo Bundle. It just works. I've tried other methods to access my network remotely and this one works the best by a large margin. Time is money. This one saves me time AND effort. Well worth investing $20. (Version 1.2.7)

ANDRACULA I've been trialing ShareTool (there's a generous 15min connection limit unregistered) and from what I can tell it just works. I connect from home on ADSL2+ straight through my works firewall to my desktop Mac. I can only comment on my reasonably high speed connection, but the performance is great in screen sharing mode. I love how I see all the shared connections on my work machine as well, as if I was sitting at the computer. Now there are no boundaries between work and home (is that a good thing? ;) As soon as these guys release an iPhone companion, Im there! PS. I cant justify 5 stars because - to be fair - I haven't tried the competition to the same extent. I like the natural mac-like interface and ease of use so much. (Version 1.2.7)

SHATFIELD I started using ShareTool only 3 days ago, so this isn't a comprehensive review. I have MobileMe, with "Back to my Mac" enabled, running a full Apple network - Airport Extreme, Macs throughout. Only when I am home does it actually work as described by Apple. When I am at my office or in a hotel, I have about a 20% chance of it working. I could not connect to my computers, even though they were listed in the Shared section of the Finder window. Enter ShareTool! This has worked for me 100% of the time. I see the machines in the Shared section, click on them and voila! I get connected. Not only that, but I could access my iTunes library as if it were on my local machine. Brilliant! I did notice that the tab order on some of the windows was not right, but the developer (Yazsoft) responded to me very quickly to let me know that this will be fixed in a future update. Highly recommended, and worth the $30 for 2 machine licenses. Apple can't attain this degree of connectivity at 3 times the cost! (Version 1.2.7)

SIGIL Some time ago, this app was on here on discount. WOW, did I miss out! It is simple and reliable! Yes, it just works! I debated purchasing this app for a while. I should of trusted my instincts.... I own Speed Download and I consider that one of the best apps that I have purchased....Foolish me.. (Version 1.2.6)

PROPAR This is the answer to a prayer. I was never able to get "Back To My Mac" to work reliably and it's very important I have access when away from the network. ShareTool solved all the problems and doesn't need Mobile Me to work either. There were some initial configuration problems and Tech Support hung in there until we got it working... If you need access to File Sharing and Screen Sharing when out of the office, this is the answer and it's a bargain as well! (Version 1.2.5)

SEF6 Product performed and setup exactly as advertised. For multiple uses, this can't be easier. I especially like it for checking my home computer running home automation schedules while I'm traveling. Even easier than using the Prism service. Kudos to the author, and thanks. (Version 1.2.5)

After goofing around with several other products that claimed to be "Just install and go", with pretty much poor results, I stumbled I am beyond happy I tired it. 5 mins worth of set up on my home laptop (an older MacBook Pro) and my travel laptop and I was connected. Seriously no muss no fuss. I have to say at minute 6 of the 5 min set up I was purchasing this and have recommended this to my boss (the IT Manager) to get installed since I am just a Senior Helpdesk guy. Heck if my Dad can get this installed, it does work as advertised. (Version 1.2.5)

DMILLERGBR I assist my elderly father with his mac and have used ichat to do screen sharing and file swopping etc. After installing Skype ichat didn't work as well and had always been a bit slow. Sharetool is excellent, easy to set up and use. It is much much faster and I can now play chess with my father on his machine something that was just not possible with the iChat connection. A great piece of software (Version 1.2.4)

CPTPOLAND This is one great little gem, that works out of the gate, without any configurations. This just works, and it works very well. After less than 5 minutes from installing the software on my home machine, I was able to browse my whole home network from work. Didn't have to touch any routers, open ports, nothing. Another big plus is addition of Dynamic DNS services in the software directly. So if don't have a static IP address with your ISP, this software will connect to a dynamic DNS service. This is absolutely great. It's a lot easier to remember a domain name than it is to remember IP address. Highly recommended piece of software. (Version 1.2.2)

JOSEPH BENNETT Excellent program. I have a huge iTunes movie library, with over 1.5TB of movies. Now, when the family goes on vacation, I can play my kids movies at night in the hotel, and don't have to drag along a bunch of DVDs. I don't have to have podcasts on multiple computers - i just stream a podcast from home. And, if I have some files locally I want to make sure are saved, or files from home I need to get, i can just drag-and-drop. Above all, the price is excellent. Great job, guys! (Version 1.2.2)

DAVEROO I've been trying to get access to a Mac-based LAN working for awhile now. I experimented with OpenVPN, but found that the difficulties with setting up a network bridge made it only somewhat useful... it doesn't appear to be possible to view the entire LAN. I've also used port tunneling with SSH, and that's more-or-less worked but it's still somewhat limiting. At least it's setup is not as involved as OpenVPN. There's also no UDP capabilities (at least not without some finicky setup) so accessing any of the services that require UDP is pretty much out of the question. It still means setting up a bunch of port forwards on the router and shell scripts for any machine on the LAN that I want to connect to. Then I stumbled across ShareTool and suddenly everything became very, very easy. It does everything that I've been trying to get working. Having access to the LAN's Bonjour services on the client computer is all that's needed... one connection to one Mac on the LAN reveals all of the Bonjour services that are available on the LAN. Desktop sharing, file sharing... it's all there. Once the connection is made ShareTool provides a simple browser window that shows the available nodes and services. But, because it's simply using Bonjour, the services also show up in the Finder window. So if I want to connect to a particular resource as a different user then I just connect through Finder. Since ShareTool is running through ssh it means that all traffic is fully encrypted. It also means that you can mess around with the ssh configuration and ShareTool will simply work with those changes. As an additional security measure I generally use passwordless logins (by disabling terminal password prompts and using rsa key pairs). It turns out that ShareTool works almost flawlessly with this type of configuration. The only inconsistency I found was that I still had to enter something in the password field (even just a single character worked) in order for the "Connect" button to become enabled. I submitted a feature request to have the "Connect" button enabled all the time and received a prompt reply from the developer. And prompt support is definitely something to be valued. MAESTROJAL This little gem has worked flawlessly after the developer issued me a beta right after I noticed a bug. I am able to connect to my machines at home wherever I am. The secure browsing feature is an indispensable feature. If you need to get to files on your machine or want to access websites not allowed by your corporate firewall - ShareTool is for you. I have only one feature request: Could we have a menu item instead of a docked application? (Version 1.2)

WALRUSCP I came across this little app when it was on MacZOT special. I have to say it's quite impressive and works as advertised. On 10.5.2 (cannot speak for 10.4.11) it continually asks for permission from the firewall for outgoing connections when first starting to share, but it's a minor annoyance. Overall, a great option for those looking to access their home network while on the road. Now if they could create a PC version so I could do it from my work PC, this would be a must-have for a lot of users. (Version 1.1)
