KENARONI  Very slick and all, but I just want to mouseover the thing in the column that I want to paste, doubleclick it, and have it paste. I know you're supposed to click the "stamp" icon to paste items, but I don't like the icon bar that appears directly over the thing I want to paste, which completely obstructs my view.

Unfortunately iClipboard does not work with ArchiCAD.

COOKIE08  I am trying this out again and I must say this is working really well it is fast similar in concept to iClip 4 but way faster and more responsive with a clean interface. The price is not that much different to say copypaste pro a $20 dollar upgrade. Have found it very stable no pauses even when copying very large clips on a Leopard G5 1.8 dual 7gig ram

PASTOR G  I like the concept. The stated functionality is appealing and lead me to download and install iClipboard. Now on every restart it wants to install the preference pane. Unfortunately, it will not actually do so. Instead it errors and must be canceled.

I would really like to see this work. I like the feature list but for now I'll stay with the tried and true iClip even though it has gotten really long in the tooth.

VANCOUVER2010  Based on long-standing bugs in SOHO notes(and to be truthful, Notes has always been buggy), Im clearing a wide birth between my downloads folder and iClipboar2 and other chronos products.

The latest iClipBoard gets rave reviews for outstanding marketing and publicity. And their GUI is impressive. Even the eye candy makes my click-to-puchase mouse finger quiver, but as tempted as I am to try it - it's the tech support/Adam that I have lost any faith in.

Don't expect a streamlined process to submit your tech requests, or a polite offer of help, and certainly don't expect timely support. I sent them three urgent requests over a period of several days before receiving any acknowledgement. I don't know if they are understaffed, poorly trained, or have no undertanding of "customer support" or just not very talented. But I won't buy any chronos products in future as a result of a buggy SOHO notes and (non-existent)support.

ESPIRIDION  This should be a free update. I purchased iClipboard and used it probably one time.

I have no problem with Chronos and their other applications. I did wait many years after using Chronos Consultant under OS 9 and SOHO Organizer 6. I even got a free upgrade to version 7. I probably should have done the same with iClipboard and waited until version 3 or 4. Version 1 was pretty bad. I'm not upgrading to version 2.

PTH Pasteboard is still my choice for a clipboard application.

GAKESMITH  Unbelievable! Chronos— how could you?? Version 1.1 never worked correctly. It was bug ridden. For instance, 1.1 promised plain text paste but it never did work. Now you say this is a "new" feature in 2.0 and you charge for it. Chronos is an unethical developer that charges upgrade fees for bug fixes! Just go and check out the reviews of SOHO Notes and SOHO Organizer.

LUX  Ok, now this app has become more of a hindrance than a help. Since following the suggestions of chronos support, iClipboard no longer copies text using edit in the menu. Also, I had about 90 clips which have all seemingly disappeared. The duplicates in SOHO notes - some of the text clips have overwritten others. A big mess all round. So, I have to revise my earlier review and give this 2 stars. I certainly won't be using iClipboard until it's much more stable and so doesn;t interfere with my workflow.

LUX  In order to reply to the response from support, I have to submit another question on their website - this is irritating and I should be able to reply to the email sent by chronos support. The suggestions - delete app, reinstall, delete pref files etc. and try again makes no difference. Yes I can edit a clip of text in iClipboard if I copy it from a text editor, but that's it - all other clips cannot be edited.

K0GG  The strap line for this product is, 'The ultimate clipboard manager'. Unfortunately the marketing people haven't used this app because even they would baulk at this claim.

1. You cannot move clips between Projects.

2. You cannot select non-contiguous clips.

3. You cannot select, delete or paste multiple clips.

4. You cannot edit clips.

In short, you cannot manage clips. It stores a clip history that can quickly become unmanageable.

5. It is buggy.

6. It is beta ware that is being sold for $20 until 2008 and then they want $30 -- for a beta!

Yes, put the product out to get feedback and free beta testing but charging for this turns my stomach.

It has a pretty, eye-candy interface. Unfortunately, eye-candy has become the software panacea for substance.

There is a long way to go for this product to live up to its claim.

CHRONOS TEAM  Thanks everyone for the feedback. All of the feature requests have been noted and we're starting to work on some of them.

We'd also like to point out that LEO SPILL's request (B) is in the software but we forgot to mention it in the documentation. Simply hold the Shift key down when you click the Paste button to paste rich text as plain text (no style).

Dec 20 2007

LEO SPILL  Well after a couple of restarts and a response from the developers all is well. I have iClipboard preferences back and iClipboard working again.

A) I still would like the option of control clicking and removing multiple clips simultaneously.

B) Paste without style - option is a must.

C) A paste everything option. There is a clear option why not a paste everything to an RTFD file option. This could be transferable from one machine to another ?

D) A contextual menu item to copy text from any application into a project draw would be useful.

E) Real editing from within iClipboard ( iClip does this well. ) - If a clip was copied from Safari the clip opens in Safari and is not editable.

F) ... and a Move clips to individual projects option.

It is a slick entry into the pasteboard application arena and hopefully will continue to improve. Disappointed that SOHO Notes owners have to run it concurrently with it's own limited clipboard feature and pay through the nose for it. iClip 4 was such a major disappointment and iPasteboard while free for basic cut and pasting is $24 for pro features and butt ugly ( but does work well ). This is well worth a try if you have the time and energy to Beta test and figure out any problems that may or may not pop up. Hopefully this will be less of a risk with each new release.

ROB_GENDREAU  I have other Chronos products and like them.

This, however, has a ways to go. I too had the stuck Edit Projects window problem in 1.02. This should not be happening.

When viewing a large clipping, like an entire web page, the scroll bars don’t work for me. This is critical, because while the preview is nice, it’s really what distinguishes this app from iClip.

Frequently I get no response from the program when I try to get a preview.

I certainly hope they fix the problems, and I’d like them to extend the intro price till they have things right.

I also don’t quite understand why this integrated in SOHO Notes capabilities, since that app has a similar clipping feature.

ROB_GENDREAU  To add to my earlier post: if I clip rich text scroll bars will show up and will work. The scroll bars in html don’t work, and yeah I’ve uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. I’ve also noticed that the jpegs I’ve clipped are cropped, and no scroll bars show up at all.

Again, these are the type of files I was hoping I could use iClipboard for, since iClip doesn’t. But it still won’t work on my iMac with Leopard.

LEO SPILL  Well I am still having problems after installing (1.0.2)

I have removed the (.plist) from Preferences and checked the iClipboard Preference Pane and it seems to be the problem. The iClipboard prefPane is only an alias ? Upshot is I still can't access iClipboard Preferences.

At the moment iClipboard is taking up the same amount of RSIZE ram ( 44Mb) as DevonThink Pro

and 2.99Gb of VSIZE ? ) Like the last reviewer I can't always access the clip I want - Seems to get stuck on first opening the iCilpboard tab - sporadic but still a problem.

My requests apart from resolving the issue with the applications preferences would be the ability to reduce the vertical screen space iClipboard takes up and the option of control clicking and removing multiple clips simultaneously. An option to move a clip into a different project rather than 'cut n' paste'. Lastly an automatic close tab option ( this may already exist but I can't access the preferences to be sure ? )

I am also getting a little weary of being an unrewarded Beta tester.

CHRONOS TEAM  We'd love to track down and solve this problem. If you haven't already, would you mind submitting a support ticket for this issue on our website so we can investigate?

1) The iClipboard Preference pane is located inside the iClipboard application bundle so the alias you mention should actually point to this preference pane. You can see where it points by selecting the alias in the Finder and choosing File > Show Original. We should make sure it's point to a valid file.

2) Does the iClipboard Preference pane icon appear at the bottom of your System Preferences window?

3) When you attempt to open the iClipboard preference pane is anything logged to the Console?

Thanks,

-Adam

LEO SPILL  Well thank you for replying, I did as you said and control clicked on the alias - It didn't obviously point anywhere. I control clicked on the application and inside resources found the iClipboard Preference pane and made a new alias from it in the user Preference pane folder.

Now iClipboard's preferences still don't show in system preferences main pane or appear when I click the preferences option pull-down menu from within iCilpboard.

DONEBYLEE  OK, forget it. I have uninstalled this app for the last time.

After running for 15 minutes it crashes and burns. I had to force quit it and I am through with it.

This is alpha-ware folks, not even beta yet.

I hope that they can work this out because it does have promise, but it is terribly unstable and not suitable for any workflow.

My review below was based on too quick an assessment and I apologize for posting it without further testing.

The Chronos folks have been quick to produce fixes...even if not yet for everyone.

First, thanks for your interest in iClipboard. We would like to get to the bottom of these crashes you've experienced on your computer. Unfortunately, we have not been able to reproduce these crashes yet, so if you wouldn't mind sending us a copy of the crash log if there is one. Open the following directory on your computer:

Is there a file named iClipboard.crash.log? If yes, would you mind sending me that file using the following URL:

DONEBYLEE  I just checked the logs and there was nothing there for iclipboard. I don't know if it got erased by hazel when I removed the app or not.

I have reinstalled iclipboard because of other reported good experiences and it seems to be behaving better. There are still features that do not work for me and others that are working sporadically.

I really do want to have this work for me. I think you have a better approach to the extended clipboard than other products do. But, obviously, stability and consistency are needed for me to add this to my work flow.

***..

DONEBYLEE  OK, I give Chronos big kudos for promptly fixing the problems I listed in my last review. However, there is at least one new problem, while not a show stopper is a pain. If you are not really careful when editing the projects screen it will collapse into the side of the screen and it does not spring back out when you mouse over it.

If you are using the default right side this makes it impossible to close the editing dialog box. You have to open up system preferences and move the iclipboard to the left side in order to close the dialog box.

Chronos developers: just disable the collapsing while the editing dialog box is open and that will fix the problem.

And one feature request: please allow dragging into and out of iclipboard, that would seem to be simpler than the current system of clicking the paste button (which doesn't always show-up by the way).

Still, great response time and good work so far.

DONEBYLEE  I tried to like this app, I really did, but it doesn't work at all.

Running on my MacBook under 10.5.1 with all current updates, it doesn't do anything that it is supposed to do. The hide feature works so well that you can't get the app to slide out from the side of the screen at all. The click preview/hover preview doesn't work at all, it always uses hover no matter what preference setting you use.

And on top of it all, no matter what settings you have enabled the app will just stop working after a minute or two.

I do like the basic design of this app. If it did what it claims it will do I would buy it. I have added it to my "watch list" so that if the developers fix it I will try again.

LEO SPILL  Well this second ( 1.0.1 ) release seems better but now I can't get the preferences to show ( On clicking the preferences option no window - all other windows open, licensing etc..). I also noticed that RSIZE memory is about 28Mb but the VSIZE is a whopping 2.93 Gb what's that all about ?

The site seems to have been updated to show the difference between SOHO Notes and iClipboard which is a bit of a swindle for registered SOHO Notes users. They have less features and if they want iClipboards extras they have to pay for it and run it concurrently with SOHO Notes ( Chronos sticking it to their users ) Very disappointing customer care/public relations.

This looks like what I always thought iClip 4.0 (which was release Jan 2007 and no updates or news since!) was supposed to be. (guess iclip spent too much effort on making their weird porthole data (non)view windows...)

CHRONOS TEAM  Hi Everyone,

First, thanks to everyone that has tried out iClipboard. I wanted to give everyone an update on the various problems that have been reported:

1. A project not able to accept more than two clippings. This issue has been fixed.

2. Creating a project and the resulting name getting set to "Untitled". This issue has been fixed.

3. The Grab and Paste functions not working. We are investigating these two issues and have narrowed down the problem. We should have them fixed by the end of the day.

We're hoping to release an update (version 1.0.1) either later today or tomorrow. Feel free to contact us directly with any other issues you may run into at the following URL:

LUX  I also own cuteclips , ipaste, iclip, copypaste - I used copypaste exclusively in Tiger, however in Leopard copypaste has become unreliable. Emails to support at copypaste have gone unanswered. iClip doesn't display rtf in Leopard, some text is randomly unreadable and the app randomly crashes. So I took advantage of the discount price and bought iClipboard and it's the best of the bunch - it does exactly what it promises and everything I want it to including pasting clips into text editors etc. Very pleased with iClipboard.

FLOWERM  The copy function is automatically pasting into iClipboard for me. Is your iClipboard set to show "Pause" down at the bottom? When "Pause" is showing the clipboard is working...which is confusing; the naming of the button is meant to tell you to click the button if you want to stop iClipboard from capturing everything you copy. Similarly, if "Resume" is showing then the clipboard is NOT working but invites you to start copying again by clicking on the Resume button.

What I am finding is a delay in iClipboard responding to mouse-over and clicks to show the clip in detail. And also the categories only allow 2 entries (this is a bug that's supposed to be corrected very soon).

So after these rough spots are ironed out, iClipboard should be as good as we hope it will be.

Surely SOHO Notes has iClipboard built in ? Or is iClipboard somehow more versatile/different ? Or is it just that you don't have to have SOHO Notes running in order to use iClipboard ?

TOMJWRIGHT  I ran into two problems when attempting to set up projects.

First, the program would not remember names assigned to projects -- after assigning a name, the project name would reset to Untitled. If a second project was then added, the result would be two projects, both named Untitled.

Secondly, although the All category would accept additional clippings, none of the newly added projects would accept more than two clippings.

These seem to be problems that should have been caught prior to release.
