ROBOTANK Very nice. Provides extensive customization options for the dock. I haven't tried the kiosk features, so I can't comment on those, but all the changes I made to my dock under 10.6.1 went without a hitch. (Version 1.6.4)

ORGANIK Has some very cool features, but BEWARE...the kiosk features may seriously screw up your apps, and even if you undo what you did, they will remain broken until reinstalled. Do NOT remove the menubar from Mail, iCal, basically anything that uses the keychain. I think this feature should be removed until it does not screw up keychain access. (Version 1.6.3)

ANONYMOUS I have tested the kiosk settings on all of the above mentioned apps on several occasions with no issues. Can you provide further information? Are you sure that this is not a problem with your keychain? Please email me directly if you would like to discuss. Thanks (Version 1.6.3)

NUMYSTIC Installed this specifically for the menubar hiding feature. It works, but there's an unfortunate sacrifice... You need to manually change the setting for each application you want to have a hidden menubar for AND once the menubar is hidden spotlight is disabled... both from keyboard shortcut access and even mouse triggered access. I'm frustrated that there is no mention of this known issue anywhere on the site or in the documentation. Would have saved me the hour I spent, first manually changing the setting for every single regularly used app in my folder, and then immediately having to undo it all one by one after I realized losing spotlight was the price I payed for a bit of clear screen. The developer knows about the issue and suggested leaving the menubar visible in the finder, and clicking to the finder when spotlight is needed. Perhaps a workable solution for an occasional spotlight user, but for someone that uses it constantly as the OS X keyboard accessible launcher, that absolutely cripples functionality and workflow. So if you depend heavily on Spotlight, count this feature out if you're wanting to use Docker. (I customize the Dock using other means, so the hidden menubar was my only interest) On the other hand, if you don't use Spotlight, or use an alternative searching/launching system (quicksilver etc.) then this handly little app may work well for you. KZX72 Possible to change the dock's background color (2D mode)? Also, how about a separator a little less obtrusive and resembling that of the Tiger dock... (Version 1.4.3)

BLOCKSOFT Thanks for the feedback. I haven't yet found a suitable way to alter the 2D background, but I'll look at adding some less obtrusive separators shortly. (Version 1.4.3)

BLOCKSOFT Download it and try it out. Docker is a very different tool from Tinkertool. The latter gives control over aspects of various system areas, whilst Docker concentrates on the Dock, and gives far more options and customisation. A comparison between the two isn't really fair. DANA SUTTON Okay, now it works as advertised (but why not simply revert to the 1.3 authentication routine pure and simple). There's another kind of Dock-mod. I'd like ot see. Towards the end of the OS 9 era I started using A-Dock to accustom myself to using the dock interface, and one of its nicest features was a user-definable time delay option so that a hidden dock didn't come popping up every time your cursor accidentally grazed the edge of the screen. To get the dock you had to keep it in contact for, say, half a second. Very nice, and I wish that the Apple Dock had the same feature rather than being such a "hair trigger" thing. I'm accidentally bringing it up all the time, which gets to be a nuisance. It would be great if somebody could write a mod. program that would add this time delay feature to the Apple Dock. TOMIS It mostly does the job it sets out to. But has a horrible interface, and it doesn't use the standard authentication dialog, which makes me wonder what they're really doing with my password... After messing with a few settings I clicked "Restore to Defaults", it gave me the fake authentication dialog, I clicked cancel, and it proceeded to reset the dock to the system defaults anyway! Please Mr. Developer, take a look at Xcode and Apple's interface guidelines. (Version 1.4.1)

MACUPDATE ADMIN "It mostly does the job it sets out to." So, you give it one star for value and one for stability? Doesn't make sense. (Version 1.4.1)
| Feb 27 2008 |
BLOCKSOFT The reason you can reset some settings when cancelling the password entry is because some settings do not require admin permissions to be reset. The interface is a matter of personal taste I suppose but please feel free to backup why you dislike it so much so I can consider this. The password handling dialog is to minimize the number of times the password is required. There is nothing sinister - your password is not stored anywhere on your hard drive. Thanks for your feedback. Graeme, Blocksoft (Version 1.4.1)

TOMIS If I wanted something that just "mostly got the job done" without any sense of proper interface or reliability, then I'd be using a different OS. That's why I gave it 1 star in those areas. I expect applications on MacOS X to do the job they set out to do, do it elegantly, and do it without unwanted surprises. (Version 1.4.2)
| Mar 1 2008 |
MACUPDATE ADMIN So, you are saying that is is unstable (one star for stability) and you give it one star for value when it is free? Sorry you still make no defensible sense. (Version 1.4.2)

JSLMG It looks as if this app is broken on my Leopard. After changing color settings and clicking "Apply," then entering my system password as required, the dock quits, but then it never restarts. I have to click "Restore Apple Defaults" in the bottom left corner to recover my dock. (Version 1.1)

JSLMG I reinstalled it after the developer responded, so I could report on it. Turns out, after reinstall, it works fine. In fact, it's the most functional of all the dock changing apps I've found so far. Would be nice to see an option to change the color of the 2D dock's background. Also, a way to add reflection to a 2D dock. That would be marvelous.

SCWJUNK it works well at first. I have my dock set to left side, "start", which means that it appears at the top of the screen, running down the left edge. I also have the dots replaced with triangles. when I plug in my second monitor, and then unplug it, the dock is now returned to the middle of the screen (still on the left) but the triangles are now at the top! and even weirder, the dock itself is not functional; the blank spaces next to the triangles at the top of the screen are what I must click on to use the icons in the dock. if I restart the dock, it's all back to normal and the dock is back to the top. this should be fixed in this otherwise great program. MACUPDATE ADMIN Just now downloaded the file, the .dmg mounts with no issues. The problem seems to be at your end. (Version 1.1)

BLOCKSOFT I have looked into this issue and decided to stick with the .dmg file. Some people have had disk images generally on late versions of 10.4. There is a discussion here which suggests that it was the result of installing an OS X update using Software Update rather than the Combo installer: There is another here which claims to have isolated the problem - that it was due to a leftover from an old version of Virtual PC which is incompatible with Intel Macs: If you are still struggling, a .zip file is hidden on my server at http://www.blocksoft.net/docker/Docker.zip (Version 1.1)
