KRIONI  I would say that I'm surprised by some of the comments about price, but I'm not. I've read too many opinions from people who say that $10 is too much for something that makes their life much easier. Ever take a cab when you could have walked or taken a bus? Ever gotten fast food instead of making lunch yourself from groceries? Come on, people!

Anyway, this utility enables me to do something VERY useful: save my SMS conversation, my call log, my Notes (without using Apple's Mail.app), and more. I paid $10 gladly.

I've had a few issues when MSB tries to read the data files created by various third-party apps (especially the AT&T app - not sure what was wrong with it, but I bet it was AT&T's fault). When I've emailed the developer, he was very responsive and helpful. He handles my complaints professionally and has resolved the issues I had. What more can you ask? MSB has to deal with many different file formats in the iPhone backup and the developer has pointed out that people are reluctant to send him their files so he can see what went wrong (I was at first, but have come to trust him).

Anyway, this is a VERY useful application and there are no good alternatives that I am aware of. So, the question is whether backing up your conversations, call logs, and more is worth $10. If the answer is "no," why are you an iPhone owner? You're paying how much per month to create those messages, and yet don't care about saving them for the future?

TUBO  Promising?

I don't know ... bought a license long time ago, contacted the developer (crashing app on PPC).

Now the new version 0.9.3 crashes immediately again on iMac G5 with 10.5.6, giving me first

"An unhandled exception occurred: StageCode=!APP.UNHANDLEDEXCEPTION raised", then

"An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down".

That far less than expected. Don't buy it.

MACNERD1984  I'm going to go on about apps that are too expensive again. I may come across as cheap (I'm far from it) but it's not my intention. I just can't justify paying $9.95 for this, and I'm surprised others can too. For what it does, it's a bit pricey.

FABRO  I am a registered user but the last 3 updates of this app keep crashing when I launch it.

The last one continues to crash even if I delete the file "MobileSyncBroswer Data" from my Documents folder and also all the app's preferences.

Moving it to the trash.

VAUGHNSC  Hi Fab! I think Ive uncovered the cause of a bug that will cause the symtoms you describe and yes, it does affect more recent versions.

I'd like to mention for everyones benefit that when these issues arise, its exceedingly hard to get people to send over their backups (being personal data, not to mention HUGE). You might then understand why some of this behaviour is really hard to track down if it doesnt happen on my machines, my data :)

I expect to release another update on or before the end of this week (Thanksgiving 2008) which should go a long ways to ending the 'mysterious mid-scan quit'.

FABRO  Useful utility if you own an iPhone and want to have on your Mac a log onf your calls and SMS, but I can't understand why separate app bundles for PowerPC and Intel, even the app's name changes with the architecture.

Such a small app shouldn't have cpu-specific instructions, so why the developer doesn't build it as an universal binary app?
