SJK Yep, Spaces is begging for an option to disable auto-switching that allows explicit control over when space switching occurs. Complex usage can easily demand too much conscious attention and effort trying to anticipate its seemingly unpredictable (at times) switching (mis)behavior. Right now I'm running VirtueDesktops on Tiger without any annoyingly interfering auto-switching enabled, which makes Command-Tab and Dock simply bring the selected application to the foreground whether or not it has any associated windows in the current space. Overall it's more manageable and tolerable for me that way, even with other bugs/quirks related to switching and keeping multiple for different apps where they belong. So, personally, the combination of space auto-switching with bugs and/or poor design choices may be acceptable for simple, casual usage but it definitely makes an unpleasant long-term usage experience. YMMV. :) (Version 1.0) |
