DAVID STEWARD Does anyone know when an update it likely? This must be the only thing I miss from 10.5 now that I have upgraded to Snow Leopard.

Pouvons-nous espérer une mise au point de widemail pour snowleopard pour bientôt ? Je suis impatient de configurer cette application pour ma boîte mail. Cordialement (Version 0.5.1)

EJI I've been checking the developer's site two, three times a day for news. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the absence of WideMail makes my entire upgrade to Snow Leopard seem half-finished. Letterbox just isn't the same. I know WM is donationware, but still, getting on for two months since the public release is a relatively long time to wait. I wish Apple would just include a vertical view by default. (Version 0.5.1)

DAIYI I had been using Widemail and have nothing but good things to say about it. Sent in a donation. If you want this vertical view in Mail now, your only option is Letterbox, also a very fine application. I have had no issues at all since installing it recently. In the future, Letterbox will also feature a two-lined view. Both great applications. Just wish there would be some word about Widemail. If not, many users may be going over to Letterbox out of impatience or "necessity." (Version 0.5.1)

AESCHYLUS Widemail offers a two-row display, which keeps the center pane narrow enough to provide a wide preview pane. I don't recall that Letterbox offers more than one row. So I'm waiting for Widemail to be updated. (Version 0.5.1)

DAIYI I was trying to ascertain that, too, from Aaron's website. But from screenshots both on his site and MU, it appears that LB remains single-lined. Dane's two=lined approach in WM appeals to me more as well. Having some spacing between messages is easier to read and process information, not to mention being aesthetically very pleasing. And it's customizable in WM. Any progress reports, Dane? Operators at PayPal are standing by waiting for donations. (Version 0.5.1)

ROBOTANK As far as I know, the developer of Letterbox is planning to implement a two-line display in an upcoming release. I was using WideMail before Snow Leopard, but I'd rather have Letterbox for now than have to use the default Mail layout. (Version 0.5.1)
| Sep 20 2009 |
DAIYI Yes, I saw on Aaron's site that he was planning on making LB two-lined like Widemail. I hope that both of them are in contact so they don't overlap on their projects too much. (Version 0.5.1)

ROBOTANK If anyone running Snow Leopard is sorely missing the function of WideMail, the plugin Letterbox (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/21899/letterbox), which is nearly identical to WideMail, now has a public beta available that works in 64-bit Mail on Snow Leopard. Check the developer's site for details. (I'm not suggesting that Letterbox is any better than WideMail, I'm just pointing out that it's an alternative to it, or at least something that can fill the gap until WideMail is Snow Leopard ready.) DAIYI I was bummed to learn that the current version of WM is not compatible with 10.6. But at least Dane is hard at work on it. I can't stand the configuration of the default Mail window. Thanks to Dane it's pleasant to use. Thanks, too, for the tip on how to restore the Subject column. I forgot to make the necessary changes before updating. But Dane's hint on his blog helped me to restore this functionality. Hopefully it won't be too long before an upgrade is out. Well worth another donation. (Version 0.5.1)

IRIEOLOGY WideMail 0.5.1 is not running with Snow Leopard! We all have to wait for an Update on which the DEV is already working on. You can support him by donating here: http://www.daneharnett.com/widemail/ The "workaround" you did will not enable WideMail on 10.6. It's basically just a bugfix for "Mail.app" (without WideMail installed). It's for users who recently upgraded to 10.6 while having WideMail installed. When you edit the "*.plist" file you will be able to get your "Subject" column back. It disapeared because WideMail provides to show/hide the "Subject" column. So as the plugin isn't working you will have to uninstall WideMail for now and wait or an update which will be released, hopefully soon. (Version 0.5.1)

KOBALT Can't sign up for access to the blog so here goes (I hope the dev reads this). I installed 10.6 and of course WideMail isn't working. So I went to the dev's blog where I found a .plist work-around. I followed the instructions given on the blog to the letter and found that in each instance 'isVisible' was already set for 'YES'. Now what??? Wait for the update, I guess. (Version 0.5.1)

FLASH1296 I appreciate the software develop's posting a note on this, the MacUpdate.com page: WideMail 0.5.1 is not compatible with Mac OS X 10.6. The developer is working on an update. I will be unhappy until this great "bundle" is updated. (Version 0.5.1)

FLASH1296 Extraordinary freeware. Tech Support was the best that I have experienced in my 23 years of Mac use. When I couldn't get the preview window to appear the software developer (in Australia) responded with very prompt email; and when I proved to be a bit dense he suggested that we use iChat - so that he can "Share my Screen" an amazing iChat feature that I was unaware of. He then walked me through everything that there is to know about this great Mail plugin. This is my favorite Mail plugin. The only one that I use currently is called "Mail FX" That too is freeware. MICK G. I love this plugin too and was happy to find this LetterBox replacement yesterday after my Leo upgrade nuked the Tiger only plugin. But I'm curious, it seems to have created a slight delay in message deletions. Has anyone else experienced that? It now takes about 1.5 seconds for a message deletion that used to be instantaneous. I'm running 10.5.2 with all the latest Apple upgrades and would be interested if anyone else has seen this.

DAI YI This is a fantastic addition to Apple's Mail, especially for those used to Entourage. The developer has produced an excellent product and is very responsive to user requests. After remarking how I missed using text colors to filter messages, Dane had 0.5.1 out within a few days! (Version 0.5.1)

DOC RENAUD For those having trouble: Manually remove old version in /Library/Mail/Bundles before installing this one. It is perfect and highly customizable. If only you could do the same for Yojimbo ;-) Thanks you for your great work. (Version 0.5.1)

DOC RENAUD I really love this plugin. In contrary to the previous post, I especially like the "from" and "subject" on the same column, one on top of another, as it takes less columns to the left part of mail. Just sent my 10 bucks to the developer. (Version 0.1)

WHITEHAWK Mmm, I really liked version .3, but this I don't, this plugin definitely needs a preference section as I find putting the From text in and above the Subject section very unreadable, don't mix or at least give us the option to choose. All said I'm glad this plugin in available so keep at it. (Version 0.0.4)

DAI YI This is a fantastic addition to Mail. I had been using Letterbox, which until recently offered identical functionality (in Tiger). But with WS Mail Plugin 0.0.4, now an additional row has been added to views, placing the subject line below the sender. Although this eats up some real estate, it's also easier on my eyes to have this type of spacing (and alternating white/blue rows). In Leopard, it's also very stable thus far. Thanks for this plugin! JCDS I use this Mail Bundle since three days and it works quite fluently with some slowdowns. It seems that the developer uses a Python Frameworks included in the bundle. Why don't use the System one? I like the new feature: subject on two lines which reduces the width of the column. Jean-Claude (Version 0.0.4)
