SANS DIEU RIEN It's great to see a game that shows what can be done using Torque Game Engine, by GarageGames-they should be proud. This is a 3-D RTS (Real Time Strategy) game with character. I've seen the mindless one using TGE...without totally giving it away...you know the one where you're a brain in a tank. I was so glad that KingMania was not like this. So far, the anemic demo version is quite enjoyable, but leaves you with the unsettling feeling that there MAY BE a lot more. The graphics are stylish, the splash screens are well done, the camera controls are not awkward, and the music is quaint, but not unrelenting. But to fully appreciate a game like this, it needs to shine in the multiplayer mode. Multipler games keeps the comraderie thriving. It's hard to judge otherwise. I know it's difficult to have a dedicated server when you don't really know the future of your product--it can make you or break you. We have all seen fun games go by the wayside just because there were just not enough players. I don't know the answer to this. It looks like a lot of work went into this game. I only hope that such independent game developers will find the encouragement to "hang in there." Try out the demo version of KingMania, and you may be delightfully surprised! (Version 1.0.3) |
