WINGK1314  ok, I have MAME OS X ver. 0.114

I've set all the directories correctly.

But when I run Mame library, the "updating game database" thingy just pops up and doesn't go away.

It's been there for almost an hr. Well, I do have ALOT of roms. But my machine isn't very out-dated either.

iMac C2D, 3GB RAM.

JAZZYGUY  I'm looking forward to using this app but I am wondering if it is going to function. On launch it could not find my MacMame app and wanted to know if I would like to locate it. I did in the Application folder where all my apps are located. It then began collecting data from my MacMame application. It has been doing so for the past hour and there appears to be no end in sight. I don't know whether to force quit or continue on as I can't stay up all night waiting for it to finish. I am wondering if the collection of data is working but I would tink that if it isn't I would get an error message...none appears yet it is running on and on with no end in sight.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  It clearly states in the 'Requirements' that this software (MAME Library) is for MAME OS X, not MacMAME. So, of course it does not work with MacMAME.

JAZZYGUY  You are correct. I was wrong. I then installed Mame OSX and your app did its thing properly. However, I could not import my ROMS with Mame OSX or with your library app had to trash both apps. There was a long list of ROMS in Mame OSX but no way to use them or import or install them.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  Hey, it is not 'my' nor 'our' app. I work for MacUpdate, hence I am 'MacUpdate Admin'. The app 'MAME Library' is the work of its developer.

JOHNNIE WALKER  jazzyguy: The import function isn't for importing games, it's for importing user info about games & collections. This is the same as iTunes' import functions.

What you need to do is:

a) Download MAME OS X, then open the MAME Library preferences & tell MAME Library where MAME OS X is.

b) Again in the MAME Library preferences, tell MAME Library where your ROMs folder is located.

c) Choose the 'File < Update Games from MAME OS X'.

MAME Library will be able to you a list of the available games, and let you launch those games.
