SGHUEBNER  Can't test this software because

a) the latest release-candidates are intel-only apparently, though stated otherwise

b) the last available version of WengoSoft crashes with showing some messages in the console like these:

29.01.09 15:12:22 [0x0-0x18b18b].com.openwengo.WengoPhone[2332] (error) 15:12:22 void QuicktimeWebcamDriver::initializeCommonComponents(): can't create a video channel

29.01.09 15:12:22 [0x0-0x18b18b].com.openwengo.WengoPhone[2332] (error) 15:12:22 virtual StringList QuicktimeWebcamDriver::getDeviceList(): can't get device list

PIXELSOFDREAMS  I really hope the developers can get this little wonder to work on the intel and ppc. I find it's intuitive, easy to setup a stable softphone account and multi-messenger app. Sadly, tried it on ppc, intel, linux without any success. i am willing to wait it out because I can vouch for it being a wonderful app. Runs very stable on vista and xp. Formerly, there existed a very early wengophone version (late 2007) that was stable on the linux platform as well.

M-RICK  This software is a really piece of crap ...

It could be very interesting, but crash all the time, the bugs are never corrected, when you relaunch it it sometimes loose your account and you have to reconfigure all, you don't know why, and this bug has never been corrected ...

Updates are all unstable as the hell ...

The interface is ugly, unconvenient and messy ...

trashed, no way to get something usable one day after all the updates ...

SVOOP  There's been a silent re-release of 2.1.2 which does launch.

So the response time is quite okay, however, they should reflect such updates in their version numbers.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  "they should reflect such updates in their version numbers."

Absolutely. Very stupid to do otherwise.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  For example, I've been *pounding* their site since the issue arose (Intel version 2.1.2 won't launch), looking for an update to fix the issue and kept seeing version 2.1.2 with NO indication the issue had been addressed. These devs don't get my vote.

SVOOP  Version 2.1.2 is broken - at least on Intel Macs. It's already posted to the developer mailinglist, so let's see how long the fix takes. This is a good "test case" to judge whether this softphone is a good choice or not.

MACUPDATE ADMIN  Yes, it does not launch on my MBP running 10.4.10. Checked the mailing lists and sure enough the issue has been brought to the developers' attention.

DAI YI  Can't even get the application to open, which makes it hard to evaluate. Intel version.

HOPPLA  How cool! It just works fine, no fees, no closed code (it's open-source) and best of all it even integrates with SIP!

Very good! Ditch skype for this!
