GAZMAN While I love the functionality of Shovebox (simple menubar app, quick jot, capture from iSight, etc.) I detest its interface. It makes it so easy to get stuff into the app, but then loathsome to be able to view it. As far as I can tell there is no keyboard shortcut to actually open the note, clicking on its name makes it viewable some of the time and edits the name some of the time. Selecting the note really should make the note visible underneath or in a separate pane instead of a separate window. Even though I paid for a licence and prefer its functionality over Evernote's, I've switched to Evernote as it has a much better interface and way of actually interacting with your notes. MCOAD Great app, terrible support. Shovebox really is superb at what it does - simple, elegant, makes life at the Mac a lot simpler. The iPhone app is terrific, too, and for me the main reason to have the app. It means you can easily carry your docs, notes and snippets with you to catch up on when youre away from your screen. But - and its a fairly big one - Wonder Warps support is just lousy. Some time ago the two apps stopped synching. They would start, apparently talk to each other fine for several minutes, then cut out for no apparent reason. I contacted WW via their website almost two months ago, with no reply. There seemed to be some problem at the site. Emails eventually got a reply saying they would be in touch in a few days. That was six weeks ago, and despite follow-up emails there has been nothing since. This is close to being the worst support Ive ever come across for a a Mac app - and Ive used hundreds of them. A real shame, and means Ive given up using the app, as this synching ability was its main use in my case (which, of course, it wont be for many). So, highly recommended, but be aware you may be risking your money if you ever need support. Unless others have better stories to tell... (Version 1.7.6)

PROKOS_J I own a license for this and really like it, use it all the time. Having said that, there are some basic features missing. Spotlight compatibility is a very important feature that is absent. Having to do a separate search within ShoveBox is an annoyance. ShoveBox's search feature also has it's problems, after doing a search and browsing through the results the search is automatically cancelled if the user closes any of the opened windows forcing the user to start his search from scratch. That effectively doubles the trouble. Another missing feature is sync ability with multiple copies of ShoveBox, say one on a laptop and another on a desktop. Yet another feature missing is the ability to see not only recently added clips but recently opened clips as well. I have emailed the developer asking for these over the past many months and while they are receptive, have implemented none of them to date. Updates/releases are very slow for an application as tiny and costly as this one is. Again, I really like it. I just wish the developer gave it more attention, I get the feeling it's sitting on the back burner. (Version 1.7.6)

ULYSSESRIC Downloaded from MacHesit nanobundle too. This application is basically an menubar-item application that works like QuickSilver, ByteControl, Synergy, etc. I really very love this idea of system integration and global hotkey access. It let me quickly log and access scraps when working in other application. However, the data storage ability of ShoveBox is limited. This application works only with data that can be copy-pasted through clipboard, and Mac OS X native documents like URL bookmark, WebArchive, and PDF. That should be enough for scraps, but when working with some serious applications like Office, it's not enough. It can't store Excel and PowerPoint file into ShoveBox, and Word document will be converted into RTF data. It can't store image files while remaining the original format but the picture-clip, and can't be drag-n-dropped into PowerPoint. ShoveBox is a great application for quick scarps. But it's not the best solution for serious information storage and workflow. (Version 1.7.6)

FOXYORB Wow! and double wow! I can't believe how powerful this is. It is such an optimum tool to quickly capture the main types of information such as text, images, bookmarks, web pages, pdf. This tool even shows up in the service menu and print to pdf menu and these are but a few of the ways to get the same thing done: shove important information. And syncing with the mobile app on your iPod touch or iPhone is a perfect example of how it should be done. The author mentions that Spotlight will soon search any captured text file in ShoveBox. Well triple wow! (Version 1.7.6)

PSW I love this product! I own a few of these file/info catching programs and I consider this one the best. Great app. (Version 1.7.3)

RIDOGI Of all the apps that provide a way to organize the clutter of the desktop, this is the easiest to get the data into it, and the only one that provides an "Inbox" so I can go back to it later to sort things into subfolders. More features like subfolders and a keyboard shortcut to take a screenshot and paste the result directly into shovebox would be welcome. It is also lacking an export option. (Version 1.7.3)

SJSW This is one of those amazing little apps where you sit back and tell yourself "man, this is just what I've been looking for". I find myself dragging and dropping stuff in shovebox all day long and then I organize it at the end of the day. Give it a spin, you'll be buying a license. Props to the developer. ROBBNASHVILLE I have grown to depend on ShoveBox to keep myself organized. I own both the desktop version and the iPhone version. It does everything it should do and more.I am totally happy with both versions of the program. Because I am a well-organized individual, I need something I can depend on. Before discovering ShoveBox, I used EverNote and even paid for the pro version. I bought ShoveBox because I had issues with EverNote being "down" too much for my tastes and because I had to refresh EverNote for the iPhone each time I wanted to see the latest version of my note. This does not happen with ShoveBox because syncs are performed between the desktop & iPhone versions directly instead of going through a cloud, so to speak. EVEN BETTER, I upgraded to Mac OS X 10.5.7 last night which produced a syncing conflict. I wrote to the developer about 7 PM CDT. He replied almost immediately telling me he was working on a fix. When I got up this morning, he had already developed a fix. That was quick! This developer obviously takes pride in his work. I recommend this program to anyone. (Version 1.7.2)

JOHN F. Great app for syncing notes and files between my iPod touch and my Mac. Was waiting for a great combo and have now finally found it! Syncing is good. Just open the iPhone app and it automatically syncs. App just sits in the menu bar on the Mac, so it's very unobtrusive. And the app looks great on iPod and on the Mac. The developer is friendly too! SAMSOFTWARE What can I say? It is the best. I have tried using other applications such as DEVONthink, and they are just to large and bulky to be running all the time. ShoveBox has a low profile even on my iMac G5 with 512MB of RAM. Quick-jot is very useful for saving small snippets of text or notes I may have written down somewhere in a document. I was a big user of Stickies in OS 9, and it really has not been the same for me since OS 9. I could compare this to Stickies. Hotkeys make it efficient on screen usage, so I don't have additional windows open that I don't need. The mobile app is a great companion, so I can take my brain with me, and organization and searching is a breeze with the ability to set up smart rules on what you are importing. I often save a url as a web archive so I can read it later, I have smart rules set up to check the URL if it is from a news site, if it is, ShoveBox saves that to a different folder from my normal web archive dump folder. Very good app, I highly recommend it. (Version 1.7)

KINGADROCK Great little application. It works well but it has some minor quirks I'd like to see addressed: - I'd like to be able to change the folder icons. - I'd love to be able to sort the folders and create sub folders. - Icons are weak and blah. Again, those are the minor issues I have with the app. Overall it's very good. It's snappy quick and seems to be very stable. And I love the simplicity of it. I'm a Yojimbo user, I'd like to switch to ShoveBox full time but the thought of transferring a thousand Yojimbo clips into ShoveBox is holding me back. (Version 1.6.2)

SUNSTARS Was a bit hesitant at first, have tried many similar apps with varying amount of bells and whistles, but in the end simplicity and a well thought out interface won me over. The demo was brilliant by allowing a set amount of notes/bookmarks/pdf and not silly x amount of days limitations that many other products have. It also crashed a couple of times during searches, and you cannot set your default window sizes and location ....new notes keep popping up in the left side of your screen which is annoying. HEAVY_SHOWER What's the point of New Text Notes that can't be inputed with notes? While experimenting, I created 7 Untitled Notes that appear in the menu bar's Recent Entries but not in the Inbox. Now my Inbox is empty, after filing my clippings, yet the menu bar's Recent Entries still list those 7 Untitled Notes. And must I really drag a filed clipping from the Inbox to the desktop just to view it? -- Not to mention having to first select Organize... from the menu bar's menu to access the Inbox when it remains listed in the menu bar's Recent Entries list? LEV There are plenty of snippet-keepers and junk drawers already... BUT ShoveBox has something special, at least for the way I use things: a hotkey which brings up a notepad. Often when working on something I have a quick idea for something else. Open a new document, type, save, try to remember where/when to open it again? Nah. Open a new APP, ditto? Nah, x2. Hit a key combo, make note, hit enter? YES. And the notes are all there -- along with anything dragged onto the ShoveBox icon -- at the end of the day when I clean up my desk. (Or ::should:: clean up my desk.) It's a great little feature of real workflow benefit. As for the bigger-scale features -- I agree that a preview pane is really important for the future of this app. But the other stuff... well, I'd say that ShoveBox is really a temporary sort of InBox; a dumping ground or halfway-house for stuff en route to a more permanent home or to the trash ("Why on earth did I think ::that:: was worth clipping this morning...?) so permanent-storage features aren't that vital IMO. It's the QuickJot that does it for me. Well worth the $ for that alone. (Version 1.1)

GCOGHILL I want to like Shovebox, but some missing features and small interface/usage oversights have so far prevented me from doing so. - Desperately needs a preview pane. - Images dropped in via Safari do not retain the image's filename. - Not enough keyboard shortcuts - Needs Smart Folders, or at least the default filetype, label & flagged items smart folders. - Not essential, but .Mac sync would be nice. I had emailed the dev about some of these issues, and he seemed a good guy and open to suggestions, but I have yet to see anything implemented. Shovebox is almost there, but the workflow, while I was demoing the app, just got in my way. And I think this is just the kind of app where the surface simplicity should be belied by a powerful, well thought out and intuitive workflow behind the scenes. Hoping for a revamped 1.2 release. This app has promise. (Version 1.1)

THEC13 I know there are a lot of apps out there in the market, but there is something to say for this app's simplicity. I love having it in the menubar and not in the dock. I'm constantly switching between Yojimbo and DevonThink, so this app is a nice mediator for the two apps. Doesn't use up a lot of memory and easy to use for filing all my random craziness. ARGLBORPS Don't get me wrong, I think this is a nice app and it looks pretty well done, but how come nobody is looking at the market anymore? How many more of those apps do we need? Really. There's nothing new that this application brings to the market, it's just another one of the already 3456 superfluous information collection thingy apps. If they'd only did synching via .Mac they'd still have a change to compete, but alas they prefer to be completely left dead in the water by Yojimbo and SOHOnotes. My tip if you don't to synching don't write yet another note taker/information collector app. There are enough, really.
